  1. Furthermore, it seems that this project was very well documented. We have the ride and scene layout, boat design, even concept art of some of the scenes. I was curious if there was more information available to create a rough model of the ride in a modeling program.
  2. Bruce Bushman died in 1972. Taft only worked on one realized park between 1969 and 1972.
  3. It sound like Moby Dick was far from being green lit. It is an interesting concept, nonetheless.
  4. I never said it wasn’t for KI. It was intended for Kings Island, as proposed by Taft’s designers. However the concept was quickly dropped. Taft went into the agreement with the hopes of building their own version of Disneyland at KI with the knowledge Coney executives had from running it. Coney executives went into the agreement hoping to build a relocated Coney Island using Taft licensed properties.
  5. The early concept work done for KI was very interesting. As we all know Coney had been acquired by Taft broadcasting for $6.5 million. It seems that the earliest concepts fell within two separate parties: 1. Taft using their licenses to make their own version of Disneyland, or 2. Coney Island being relocated to Mason. These concepts were from the first party.

  7. I have a few questions about the Moby Dick attraction proposed for Kings Island. There are pieces of concept art for a boat attraction in the spot of land that eventually became the site of Enchanted Voyage. One of the drawings showing the layout of the proposed attraction names the ride specifically as the “Moby Dick ride” consisting of whale vehicle, sea monster, treasure ship, giant squid, ship fight, and illegible bullet points. The drawing match the building and ride seen in the early Bushman paintings. Is there any more information about this ride?
  8. KI has done an excellent job imo. People adhere to the social distancing markers and almost all of the guests are wearing masks. Employees have been quick to enforce social distancing and mask policies.
  9. That would make a busy year for RMC. They’re finishing Jersey Devil, Iron Gwazi, MM, KD, Adventureland, and KD projects! Wow’
  10. I think the reason why this discussion has taken new life is due to the fact that Vortex was removed. Up until 2009, Vortex was considered smooth by many, however that impression changed once Diamondback was installed. I think with Vortex’s removal, many are forgetting how Vortex was and thinking the previously viewed smooth coasters as rough.
  11. I would agree. It’s amazing how tightly squeezed the ride would be in that spot.
  12. DeWine to make an announcement at 530 tomorrow: https://www.wlwt.com/article/gov-dewine-to-hold-special-wednesday-evening-coronavirus-briefing/33315831
  13. Here’s the thing, we are a ki and theme park forum and to ignore something that has completely altered the landscape of the industry is wrong.
  14. I think KI’s Racer is Allen’s finest creation, followed by Racer 75. It is clear to see how the design of The Racer spurred the second Golden Age of the wooden coaster.
  15. Looking at the various concept art of the original Kings Island, it’s interesting to note that The Racer has a different profile, similar to the KD/CW racers. Was it originally planned to be that way?
  16. Yep, but the blood pressure comment is significant as a indicator this is COVID related. The Peanut Allergy would cause some but not all of the symptoms, COVID would cause all of them.
  17. Furthermore, Disney is getting nailed over this viral video: Thoughts?
  18. Do they have outdoor seating for the Miami River Brewhouse?
  19. The Bushman painting aligns with much of the Bushman concept art I’ve seen.
  20. Having ridden Orion a few more times, the ride really is the best in the world, in my opinion. It’s neat that the ride is built 287 feet tall on top of a berm, so that the ride towers over everything else. In fact I think the vertical distance between the top of Orion and the lowest part of Kings Island is larger than the respective values for Fury 325. That being said, the ride is intense in the pull-out sections of the drop. I feel the wave turn is neat as it provides some floater airtime with lateral g forces. The reverse treble clef has a good pop of air with stronger airtime. The speed hill is intense, and the camelback hill is absolutely insane. To put it into perspective, the fifth hill of Orion is as tall as the second hill of SFOG’s Goliath. The helix is intense, and the final off axis airtime element before the brakes is intense. The ride is a world class addition to a world class park!
  21. Nope, isn’t six feet. The 4 seat v shaped cars are shorter than two 4 across cars.
