  1. I tried Coney BBQ today. The food was incredible. Honestly, it may have been the best meal I have ever had in the park. And let me tell you, the atmosphere was great. The ride logos on the wallpaper and the photos on the wall made for some excellent throwbacks. However, they may want to stock up on napkins. The dispensers were empty, which is a bad combination when it comes to ribs.
  2. Today wasn't too crowded. I was able to get 10 rides in roughly 2 hours. Almost all the rides were walk ons, so I decided to take the extra few minutes and wait for the front seat on all of the coasters today. Combined with the breezy weather, it was the perfect feeling.
  3. I don't mean this in a rude way, but was there no one in your party who offered to walk it back for her?
  4. What did guest services say about filming in the station? Asking you to delete the video seems above a ride op's level of authority. Wouldn't that be security's responsibility?
  5. Good point. The clip does start right next to the security perimeter and it does appear the guard just spotted him and made up some rule. It's hard for me to make an accurate judgment when you can't what the guy looks like, what he's using with the camera, and what he's doing when he's not filming.
  6. In this video, it doesn't look like he's done anything wrong. You are allowed to have cameras and camcorders at the park. You just can't have them on rides, in restricted areas, or use them to harass people, which he may have been doing prior to filming this clip. It doesn't look like he's using a steadicam, so I am not sure if it is his equipment, if he had any equipment. He may have just been bugging people with questions for whatever video he was making and people reported him.
  7. I saw an article posted on Facebook about this and naturally, there were comments saying, "See, this is why I don't ride rollercoasters." I'll say it multiple times, I feel a thousand times safer when I am on a rollercoaster than when I'm in a car.
  8. I would love it if the Schultz retrospective lived past June. In fact, it'd be great if the park created a series of retrospectives discussing the history of Kings Island and its iconic rides. I've seen an older documentary produced during the Paramount years and, uh, let's just say it had some charm to it.
  9. I'm sorry to hear that you were treated like that. You are not "cutting" the line. You are using a service that the park offers, which you have every right to use. The way they acted was not only disheartening, it was on the trashy side of human behavior. I hate to be so frank and use that word, but jerks should be ejected from lines for such things. EDIT: This actually reminded me of a story I overheard a guest telling at the park. They were talking about taking their kids to a dolphin show somewhere. They got their early to get the front row. There was a disabled person and they were asking for volunteers to move another row. The way this man spoke reminded me of Vic Morrow's character at the beginning of his (unfortunately tragic) segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie. His admittance to his "how dare they?" reaction to the thought of moving one row back made me tense up. And it still does to this day. I hear stories like this from other guests almost every time I go to the park.
  10. My favorite forms of music are instrumentals (classical and film scores) and 60s/70s/80s rock. Naturally, I love it when Clair De Lune and Rhapsody in Blue greet me on International Street. Same for Joan Jett on The Racer. (Of course, I miss when "A Party.. For Me?" from Marc Shaiman's Addams Family score was heard in the park.) Amusement parks are supposed to be escapism. When you walk into one, it should feel like you are walking into somewhere different from the rest and that means not hearing the same lousy songs you hear in line at Walmart ("Pompeii" and "Use Somebody").
  11. Cotton candy was my favorite snack at the park. I say "was" because I can no longer have it. Last year, I found out I was diabetic. Actually, I kinda found out while I was at the park. I don't think most of these flavors would have interested me, except that blue ice cream flavor.
  12. I don't understand this either. There's no reason to waste effort on amateur POVs when the professional ones are just a click away. The park isn't making this rule because it's the big evil corporation that wants to control all of its IPs. They don't want these devices striking other riders or pedestrians walking under the queues and sidewalk below portions of rides that interact with such (like Diamondback). The least complicated way to enforce this policy is to not allow any form of recording device to be in your hands or attached to your head or chest.
  13. Screamin' Demon Bavarian Beetle The Bat And the ones that hurt the most, because I was alive and able, but didn't ride them: King Cobra and Tomb Raider: The Ride with its original theming. Outside the park, The Jaws Ride. I had a chance. I was very young and scared Bruce (the shark) would get me. Now it's gone, leaving a mark on my bucket list forever unchecked.
  14. I love that the decor and wallpaper are celebrating the history of the park.
  15. That was one of my favorite areas of the park growing up.
  16. I concur. Honestly, I forget it is even there most of the time and it's only when I think fondly of former elements of the park that I remember it's still there. With all the shows that currently exist in the park, I just don't think the average guest walks into the park wanting to see a concert that they have to pay extra to see and I imagine the park will want to do something else with that area within the next decade or so.
  17. Classy fellow. Sadly, I see this sort of behavior in public all the time.
  18. I love LaRosas outside the park. It is my favorite pizza, hands down. But at the park, it tastes stale.
  19. One problem is that direness of lines inspires the speediness of preparing food which often foregoes the quality.
  20. I've always thought the "old wood" look of the queue added to The Beast's wild monster charm in a B horror movie sort of way. Sometimes, while waiting for my train to pull back into the station, I'd notice a spider web haunting the final brake run and think, man, does that fit the theme. (HAMMER Presents The Beast!)
  21. I cannot agree more on the instrumental music at International Street. It gives the area a unique ambiance that is perfect for the setting. Besides, there's plenty of country and alternative music to be heard throughout the rest of the park. On that note, I'd also like to add the classic rock at The Racer's station. My favorite music will always be film scores, but when it comes to lyrical music, I'm a 60s/70s/80s man. Honestly, I was born in the wrong decade. Congo Falls is an under-appreciated attraction. It's a lifesaver on a hot day and is a great asset for that side of the park. Many say this surviving remnant of the area's Safari days no longer fits with the current aesthetic, but I'd argue the jungle river theme is right at home in Action Zone. (It should go without saying, the movie Paramount re-named this ride after was an action/adventure film.) The lights on The Vortex. I'm not sure why, but I've always liked them. Last but not least, deodorant. Need I say more?
  22. I think it'd be cool if they added more random encounters with other "characters" from the park, such as The Beast, Banshee, and the aliens from Flight of Fear.
  23. It definitely looked like there was some water on that pavement with the ripples and reflections, so I wouldn't say it was a complete trick on your eyes. It just wasn't a significant amount of water.
  24. With some cozy air conditioning. I'm down.
