"I think SFGADV would be wise to hold off on the Intamin woody for a year or two. Considering their latest Intamin essentaiy destroyed itself and is requiring additional millions to repair. But hey as said before this is Six Flags and they aren't know for wise decisions." But, their wooden coasters have not had any major problems I have heard of. Not only that, you are talking two totally different types of technologies.

Does PKI bring out the kid in all of us.

That first walk through the gate and walking by the fountains does it for me. When my family first started taking me there, the first thing we would do is eat LaRosa's pizza next to the fountains. It got me even more excited to know the day was about to begin and I could forget all about school and home life. I guess that's a big part of why I am partial to LaRosa's pizza. -
^I'm glad I skipped it then. I stopped there to get a soda in between marathon riding and thought it smelled pretty good. I always get LaRosa's pizza. Festhaus burgers are crap. If I go again, I'll have to give the Happy Days diner a visit. I thought it looked great.

All you Six Flags haters better hope they don't belly up. Think how many parks would go close and then you would have to find private investors to re-open them. Maybe some would never re-open and I am all about having as many choices as possible.

First, I don't like the new 2005 park maps. The attraction index is alphabetical, which is fine, except when you look at a number on the map, you'll spend a long time looking for the attraction below if you don't know the name of said ride. Yes, I know for myself and others, this is not a problem. But, what about the people that have never been there? I was also noticing under Park Guidelines & Information, concerning the Park Attraction Rating System, all of the rides have some wording and I was wondering if this was new. Ever ride states that this ride may require some rider body control and is not intended for unaccompanied toddlers or very young children. Has that always been worded that way? The reason I ask is it seems they might have added body control with what happened at SFNE and the Superman:Ride of Steel coaster. Or, has it always been there and it just so happens that it applies to the afformentioned accident?

"About Top Gun, While in the station on the 11th I saw that some wheels were FREE SPINNING." This is not a bad thing. I've seen it on other coasters and not just at PKI.
-
"its the same as ttd all it is is bigger and faster and my bro works at Cedar Point and dragster really is bigger by the way!" No it's not. Dragster = 420 ft. Kingda Ka = 456 ft. How do you figure that TTD is bigger?
-
Taller and faster isn't the way to go. That just gets boring and pointless after a while. Dragster is fun, but way too short.

"Think logically people! Its not the trains on SOB, its the track that ungulates so much that makes it shuffle so bad." This has been talked about over and over again. The trains are the problem on SOB, not the design or the track. And since ungulates is something hoof shaped or hooved, exactly where is the track hooved on SOB? It's all in the trains.

They would build a floorless before changing Mantis. They are still in the coaster race and they would rather up their count than just to change another coaster. Not only that, it costs like about a million dollars per train. I doubt they'll sink that much money in to an older coaster.

Well, I'm not going to bother writing what I rode ride by ride as it happened because my brother and I managed 28 laps on most all of the major coasters. Here's how it broke down: The Beast = 6 laps Son of Beast = 5 laps (It was rather smooth today) The Vortex = 5 laps Flight of Fear 4 laps Racer = 3 laps Face/Off = 2 laps IJ:ST = 2 laps (still doing the ride tickets) Adventure Express = 1 lap Top Gun: We were evacuated off the lift hill. Received exit pass which was pretty much useless since there were no lines. Decided to use it on Face/Off since it had the longest wait...20 minutes. I would much rather have been given a free drink. Of course, an exit pass doesn't cost PKI a cent. Did Scooby and the Haunted Castle - I hadn't been on this one. Pretty good fun. Can't remember score. Tried Spongebob 3D - about 1/2 way through sound messed up and we were made to leave to queue up again. Total BS, we didn't bother going back. Delirium was closed for the day. Didn't do Tomb Raider. The last ride was on SOB and we asked for a re-ride since no one was in the station. Then, the ride op said they couldn't do that for medical reasons. I'm not surprised, but it's eerie when someone says it to you. I have to say that in the past I have ranked CP employees above PKI's. This is no longer the case. Everyone was great. I felt sorry for the games employees since the crowd was so light, hardly anyone was playing games. IJ:ST, while not the fastest or tallest, is one of the best themed coasters out there. My favorite parts were the launch up the spiral and the tunnel after the helicopter. There were some good dips and turns in total darkness. Of course, since I collect On-Ride Photos, I had to get one for Italian Job. My only real complaint and it's the same everywhere, is prices for drinks. A 20 oz. Coke for $3.00? Absolutely ridiculous. Otherwise, awesome day!

Who are you saying is wrong PKIboy? I and PKI Vortex both said it wasn't that bad.
-
Nope, you were at the correct PKI. I don't think SOB is half as bad as some would like to make it out as.
-
"it certainly didn't have much drawing power, because if I remember correctly, attendance that season didn't jump a considerable amount." Well, that was largely due in part to the fact that it was not open a whole lot the first season. It's easy to say it was a huge mistake in hindsight. Now, when PKI was going to build SOB, the now SOB haters were probably all about it until after they rode it. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Kings Island Offers a Perfect Blend

I love coffee. But, there isn't anything like hot coffee on a hot summer day. LOL. -
It is the same coaster that was discussed over at Coasterbuzz. The coaster is real as well as the other ride. Could it be Old Man Withers Haunted Amusement Park?
-
Well, I'm ready to know what it is that PKI has in store for us next season. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy this season and my up and coming trip this Wednesday.
-
Yes Dan, I read your post. I also stated twice to take Screamscape rumors with a grain of salt as they are often wrong. As a matter of fact, it was in my very first post. Or, did you read?
-
Shaggy. The man has never left the 60's, even in the newer movies.
-
It's definitely the trains. There's a lot of shuffling as it navigates the course.
-
^You mean the one with the MTV Soundwave, Titanic, Spongebob Car Wash? Or, the one with other Top Guns? They all kinda run together.
-
Actually, SF maintenance at SFGadv, from what I understand, is doing a good job over the last couple of years. Or, are you just gonna make a blanket statment about the whole chain? There's no reason that SFGadv shouldn't install a new woodie, record breaking or not. Or, is it that you just read or heard that SF maintenance doesn't do a very good job?
-
Yeah, obviously people don't want height or speed any more. That's why Kingda Ka was built.
-
A lot of Screamscape's news is old as well. As of 5/30, they reported that a couple of riders who were injured on Dragster are now suing CP. I heard that same thing about a month ago at Coasterbuzz.
-
Buying floorless trains would be a complete waste. It would be like riding Raptor with no inversions...Boring. It would not be a good return on investment either seeing how they just replaced a train within the last few seasons.
