  1. I like to start applauding while everyone is booing the ride attendant and yell out "Thanks for doing your job and looking out for that child's safety." Of course the looks afterwards from everyone who was booing is priceless.
  2. They did a lot of the setting up over night. If you drive by the mall parking lot on I-275, you will spot the ferris wheel that was put up over night.
  3. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,538903...test=latestnews http://www.clickorlando.com/news/20352255/detail.html
  4. It's 48" to ride. http://visitkingsisland.com/attractions/detail.cfm?ai_id=347
  5. No they don't have to shut it down . It was a "mechanical delay," and no one was injured.
  6. What target are you talking about?
  7. As someone who has worked this event a lot in the past I can tell you that this is one of the few special events that the employees look forward to because the guests are extremely nice to the employees. They joke around and have a good time, it's a great night. I also looked forward to it due to the lack of cleaning that needed to be done after the night has concluded. We typically didn't even have to empty the trash cans, and the lines were free of trash laying on the ground...which is more than we could say when some local companies buy out the park.
  8. What's sad is that most of the time the parents get more fired up and upset then the child that just got told they can't ride. That should say something in itself. I've wanted to say to some parents, "Your child doesn't seem too upset over not riding, why are you getting all worked up and cursing at me?"
  9. ^Better known as first come first serve
  10. What will they think of next...maybe a Grand Prix in the parking lot
  11. DT doesn't allow people in the ride area while the ride is in motion so there is really no risk for someone taking it. Same goes for Invertigo.
  12. ^ That would depend on where the train is when the evac happens.
  13. ^Good to see some praise of the DB crew. Especially since so many give them a hard time about the SRL.
  14. As Pcc said, try to catch dinner at the Dixie Stampede along the main drag in Pigeon Forge. Check out their vacation packages on this page (which includes the Dixie Stampede on some): http://dollywood.reservedirect.com/dollywood_packages.asp
  15. Ride evacs are usually saved for a last resort since it does increase the danger that the guests are in.
  16. ^Nice pics. I think the Delirium one is my favorite.
  17. I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet, but I see Lanuch Pad being removed so that they can put something in the back of Coney Mall to attract more people down in that area near Vortex and AT. I have never been a fan of that being installed in the park, and wouldn't miss it one bit.
  18. Welcome! John Mayer, they should be playing the original by Tom Petty...much better version.
  19. I don't care what ride they are working, that's just sad. The ride ops should be selling their ride to the people in line and make them think that they are about to get on the greatest ride in the park.
  20. A wheel change would require the train to be in the train shed. I'd figure it's just technical diffaculties. As one who has seen multiple wheels changed, I can tell you that not all coasters require the train to be in the "train shed" for a wheel change.
  21. SOB was indeed designed to run 3 trains, however in order to keep the train from consistenly stopping in the block brakes, the crew would need to be on their game every minute of the day which isn't likely to happen.
  22. I believe the 1 millionth rider on SOB was shown on the evening news and got a gift basket of some sort.
  23. If all the effects were working on BLSC, I bet it could give AE a run for it's money.
  24. Disney monorail workers placed on leave after crash http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/09/florida.d...rash/index.html
