Coaster Battle #1: Adventure Express vs. Backlot Stunt Coaster
MarketingExpress replied to McSalsa's topic in KI Polls
Wow I am really torn on this one since I have had lots of experience with both rides. But, there is something special about AE and how it follows the landscape of the land around it. I also still consider AE to be one of the most under rated night rides at the park due to The Beast's popularity for night rides and everyone wanting to catch a night ride on DB. An added bonus is that AE barely has a line at that time of the night. -
The stair effect is not a "bumpy area in the track." If I'm not mistaken, that effect has never worked since day one and was supposed to be achieved by having a big subwoofer placed just under the seat pointed towards your butt and being activated at that particular point during the ride? Can anyone back me up on this? I'll back you up since I probably know more about the ins and outs of this ride than most. You are correct, the track itself had no modification for this effect, it was actually all suppossed to be in the audio system, as described, which as we know only worked a handful of times. This would depend on what you consider the final hill. I think of coming out of the bilboard as the final hill even though it's a small one and the stairway effect was to occur going down the hill before the coaster train stops for the fire/helicopter effects. If I remember correctly there's a sign at the top of the hill that says "Subway" or there used to be.

The ride never really had a fair chance from the beginning. Somethings would work every now and then, but I don't recall anytime where everything was working together at the same time as was shown in the promo videos. I don't recall the stair effect ever working, although it may have a few times without my knowledge. The audio in the cars themselves was quickly given up on and moved to the station speakers. The headlights worked only a handful of times. The hard water marks that were left on the fiberglass cars from the water effects really didn't help the rides image much since the cars looked old and faded just in the first few months of operation.

I have to agree with you there. Fantasmic is my favorite show at Disney. Wish KI would have some kind of show incorporated with the nightly fireworks. I think if Timberwolf ever had to be replaced with a similar venue, that would be a great type of attraction to place there.

If you really hate your job that much, go find another one. I'm sure if there aren't other opportunities in the park that interest you then one of your local fast food restaraunts is probably hiring.
-
I will agree with you there, I don't think I have ever gotten off that ride walking straight.

Usually the gold pass deal ends sometime in May.

The probably planned to close the ride at 8 in case there was a long line to cycle through before the fireworks.

Death At Disney World
MarketingExpress replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's not like this is a common occurence. In fact, this is the first fatal accident the monorail system has experienced in 38 years of operation...I would still consider the monorail system a safe mode of transportation on the Disney property. -
^Not sure what the thinking was behind that, maybe you someone should ask someone on the DB crew next time they are in line.
-
^KI has to close the rides that are within the "blast zone" so that riders do not get struck by falling debris. When Paramount had their festivities they did a good job of publicizing which rides closed early and which ones would be re-opened after the fireworks. Not sure is CF did as good of a job with that this year.

Sarcasm is a risky thing...if one doesn't pick up on sarcasm then they could take something personally. Sounds like this may just be an example of someone being sarcastic towards you Skaterboy. As for Guest Relations, I'm sure they aren't used to seeing many people your age in their office complaining about something, especially something as trivial as this. I'm not saying that's a good excuse and that you don't deserve the same respect as any other guest in the park, but Guest Relations deals with 40 some year old ticked off parents all day long about trivial stuff so when a 17 year old complains about something like this, they don't see it as a big deal.

Wow! Sounds like you had a great and successful day at CP. I would definately consider you a ride warrior after 36 rides in a day.

I can imagine that the crowds will get larger as the week goes on.
-
How were the crowds?

The ride op can't see the actual ride from the loading station where the train will be launched from to see if anyone is in there or not. The ride shouldn't be able to move if there are workers on the track (as long as proper procedures are followed). I believe the warning siren has a voiceover that says that trains are about to be launched and to clear the area.

Is Holiday World worth visiting?
MarketingExpress replied to KYCavsFan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I've heard about the perks at HW, however I hear that they make up for that in the admission price ($39.95 according to their website). Currently KI has adult admission for $32.99 (according to their website). I would imagine that KI is larger than HW and offers more for the entire family. -
AE wouldn't have that problem if they were running 3 trains.

I stand corrected, thanks for correcting that...

Sounds like a great lineup of events. Never been to Coney for a 4th of July celebration, but sounds just as exciting as the ones at KI. -
^I'm sure there will be a big event to commemorate the opening of the capsule on June 21, 2011
