  1. I don't think they do the after 5:00pm tickets discount now. Especially since they have the pay once visit twice deal.
  2. What happened with the DB single rider line that made you feel this way?
  3. Actually filling empty seats does speed up the line. Let's say if DB were to not assign seats, your wait is exactly 1 hour, and in that 1 hour there are 50 empty seats. With a seperator (or seat assigner) in place, those 50 seats get filled causing there to be 50 fewer people in front of you...thus less wait for you in line.
  4. I know back in the Paramount days, they used to pull their tolls associates at 5 or 6 o'clock and you could just drive in without having to pay for parking. Not sure if CF does the same thing, I doubt it if they are trying to get all those nickles that everyone is talking about.
  5. Yes you can get up there, however, it's not an attraction you can just go up and see at any time during your visit to KI. If it's something you want to see the character breakfast would be a great way to see International Street from a unique perspecitve.
  6. As has been mentioned before in other topics, the purpose of the seperator is not for the park to rule over everyone and decide who goes where, it's more for capacity and the elimination of empty seats on any train leaving the station. By eliminating empty seats, the ride will become more efficient resulting in a shorter line.
  7. Sounds like all of you are talking about the same person and his family. They are known well at the park, especially in the rides department. When I worked at AE, it seemed like they were at the park everyday of the season and that they would always end their day at AE. We got to know all 3 of them by name and would joke around with them. These are the nicest people in the world and they remembered you by name everytime they came to your ride.
  8. Some of these ride queue's had such good que-lines at one point. Top Gun (or Flight Deck) probably had my favorite with the underside of the station themed after an aircraft carrier. Between the that and the fog in the station, it really added to the ride experience. FOF is another line that is very well themed and tells a story (over and over) to entertain while you are waiting in line.
  9. ^Very true about Cedar Fair...just look at Disaster Transport at CP.
  10. The theming you are referring to is not the reposnibility of the ride ops on AE. They do have control over the sound effects on the ride (wild animal noises, train whistle, etc and then the station music). To address your comment...the effects not working are not the result of lazy ride operators.
  11. If they are the same signs that have always been there, I believe the sign says that line jumpers "may" be ejected from the park. Which means it's a case by case basis, and based on the reaction of those being booted from the line.
  12. ^ I worked at the park in '05 and would have definately heard if something like that happened. How about a link to site that confirms this Dalefan because if you do a search of "King Island +shooting" or even "Paramounts Kings Island +shooting", nothing even close comes up. Anyone else heard of this rumor?
  13. As has been mentioned before, security does not carry guns at KI, only the park police officers do. And what's this about a shooting in the parking lot at KI...did I miss something because I don't ever remember hearing about such an incident.
  14. June 9, 1991- Two men were killed after having been electrocuted in a pond at Kings Island amusement park in Kings Island, Ohio. They were trying to rescue another man who was in the pond whose hat had blown into the pond. He also suffered electrical shock. The electrocutions were later found out to be caused by a underwater circulation pump. Also later on the same day, a very drunk woman fell out of her seat Flight Commander. This day is known as Black Sunday. --KI Central History Page
  15. Be sure to say hello to Jeff Siebert while you are there.
  16. For those who say that a little ride operator can’t handle a big line jumper here’s how we did it…. We would get the complaint from 2 independent parties or more regarding the line jumpers. You would be surprised on the number of parties after hearing the line jumping policy explained to the original party that complains that would voluntarily step in and say, We saw them line jump too. We would let them wait in line, even up to the point that we would let them get onto the ride waiting to be checked. They are in a vulnerable position at this point because chances are they are sitting down and you are standing above them somehow. This is when you explain to them, “I have had [blank] complaints that you and/or your friends jumped ahead in line. What I need you to do is exit the ride and if you wish to ride you will need to wait in the entire line again. Most of the time the line jumper will stand up and exit the ride without a fuss, but every once in a while you will get someone who gets angry, even though they may be guilty and refuse to get up. At that point I would tell them, This ride will not move as long as you are sitting in it. I always save the security threat as a last resort for those who refuse to get off the ride (1 incident in 6 seasons). I simply reiterate that the ride will not move with them on it and that if they hold up operation any longer I will call security and they can speak with them. In my one instance that this happened they did get off the ride after that. I think this way is effective because you are basically calling them out in front of everyone in the station, and the public embarrassment is enough to cause them to get up and leave most of the time without incident.
  17. "Felix said she thinks there should be icons in the park map that show where people should go in case of emergency." That would be impossible to do since most of the shelters are "behind the scenes." "However, park maps do say that in cases of severe weather, instructions are supposed to be given over the park intercom." I wasn't there that night, but maybe someone who was can verify this. I know the park used to have an announcement that would play well before the storm hit that there was severe weather in the area and everyone should take shelter immediately. Any word on if anyone heard that announcement? If this is the only family complaining obviously the park did something right. I don't doubt that they were scared with what was going on, but given the stories/experiences I have read on this website of that evening, it sounds like the park handled the situation very well considering it is not a common occurence. Sounds like Channel 5 is just trying to dig up a story like they usually do.
  18. I find it odd that one would say to drop the trim brake comments, but at the same time they go out of their way to create a brand new topic discussing trim brakes.
  19. I always make it a point to stop for a funnel cake at some point during my visit. Nothing fancy, just powdered sugar on my funnel cake.
  20. I can see why...it's a wee bit nipply out
  21. In defense of the park, it's not like they can just wander out there whenever they want throughout the day and start pulling gum off the wall. To even get out there involves cutting all power to the ride so the trains have no chance of moving while you are out there. As I said, I have been a part of the clean up crew that has gotten the privelage to pull the gum off the walls of The Racer and recaR brakeshed. It's not an easy or fun task and can easily take over 4 hours to complete for just one brakeshed, and that's not even including painting the walls.
  22. Been there....done that
  23. It may have been hourly at one point... but it used to go off every 15 minutes. Made for some long days working at the Viking Fury.
