Never got up huh? I doubt that because of the waiting area between the loading station and the unload station.

One of the words of advice that I heard given to a soon-to-be mom who is going to pop any day now was "Don't let your children hold you back from what you want to do and going out." Many in the room said that they had wished they were told that advice when they started having children.

Don't forget about the floral calendar, that's something different that you could take a picture of.

The worker probably said what they did because they are not an official spokesman for the park and isn't allowed commenting such matters. I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself on this one, as others have said we just got a brand new multi-million dollar coaster, it will probably be some time before another is built.

The crowd will probably be above what it would normally be for any other Sunday with the Ride Warriors promotion and the bring a friend promotion. I am betting it won't be as bad as the Bring a Friend Free days of the past where you could barely walk through the park in some areas because there were so many people.

As far as the weather, it's still a little too early to know what's really going to happen a week from now. You will probably get a better idea of the weather around Tuesday of next week. As far as Math & Science days at the park, they aren't too bad as long as you don't mind a bunch of rugrats running around. The good news is that most of them leave by 3 or 4. The park tries to open all the big rides first due to staffing issues, but if your favorite ride isn't open in the morning, it should open in the late afternoon when the local schools (Mason, Kings)start to dismiss and the park can get more of their employees in.

If anyone has Time Warner Cable, check out the Local On Demand channel. The channel currently has 2 KI related shows to watch. The first is the Diamondback preview that was shown when the ride was first announced. This includes all of the computer animations that were on the Diamondback website. The clip is about 3 minutes long. The second is the 25th anniversary video of The Beast. I thought this was cool since 2009 is the ride's 30th anniversary. This clip which is about 25 minutes in length features mutiple interviews, pictures, and clips from when the ride first opened. There was a lot of mention of Don Helbig in the video as well and his accomplishments with his marathon. At the time of the video he was still working for the Mighty Ducks here in Cincinnati. Definately a must see if you have Time Warner and best of all it's free if you have the on demand feature. I can't remember what the specific channel is, but I will look into that and post it on here later.

All new rides have hiccups when the open. You have to remember that not only is the ride new to the park, the computer system is new and different than any other in the park so it may take maintenence a little longer to figure out what is actually wrong. I think that DB's reliability has been excellent thus far with minimum downtime.

how long did you have to wait for these rides
MarketingExpress replied to zachman's topic in Trip Reports
Rainy days seem to be the best days to go to KI. Especially when it rains most of the morning, people make other plans due to the rain and the park ends up being empty. I would suggest people take advantage of these opportunities whenever they can. -
A safe assumption is that there will be more than 1 person at the park...but less than 100,000
-
I agree that the 60 rides was probably on media day. But the 20 rides could be accomplished, especially if they took advantage of the single rider line.
-
I'm guessing you are referring to Friday when the park was open all day. Yes these days are extremely difficult to staff because just about everyone is still in school. The rides department usually gets people from other departments to help run rides until their staff can come in (usually around 3 or 4).
-
I really like the one just inside the front gate.

Mid-Course Brake Run

The floral clock and calendar usually make their debut right around when the park opens daily for operation.

This is just one of those times where your darned if you do and darned if you don't. Rotag I am not calling you out specifically because I do not believe that you would act like this if it were to happen to you, but ride ops do get yelled at when the person waits through the entire line and then finds out they can't ride. Usually a comment along the lines of: "Well why didn't the kid out front tell me I couldn't ride." Had you said that you had already ridden that day, they probably would have let you go without question. You also need to remember that these ride ops see thousands of people everyday on their rides so no one person is going to stick out to them unless they know that person. Also the ride ops rotate positions numberous times throughout the day so chances are it wasn't the same ride op that was at the front of the line.

I don't have a clue about those two, but I know that Beast and Vortex have "Kiddie Corrals" in the station, and they are still used. AE also has a kiddie corral. SOB used to, not sure if it's still there

How long did you wait for your first ride on Diamondback?
MarketingExpress replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
First time about 20-30 mins... Second no more than 10 -
The animal noises and the train whistle used to drive the AZ crews nuts especially the Days of Thunder crew. I remember a few times when we left the effects on in the evening and you could hear them clear across the park and of course we had to go back and turn them off. Ah memories...
-
I think most people's feet didn't touch the floor of the car.
-
I stand corrected, thanks for filling me in.
-
Did anyone else notice in the Diamondback line once you pass under the lift hill that people have already scratched their names and initials into the wood fence on the right side of the line. I noticed it while in line for my first ride on Sunday. It's stuff like this that really p*sses me off. The ride wasn't even open two days and people are already trying to leave their mark. People have no respect for property or the hard work that it took to build this ride.
-
It's possible that the stop you encountered was not a e-stop, but a setup because the block ahead was full. This is a normal occurrence under 3 train operation of AE.
-
I've been in there during the day, and it's just as creepy.

The Crypt so much potential. So little time...

I rode it on Sunday, I wasn't too impressed. I prefer the TRTR programing and theming for the ride and I think we were spoiled by having that theming as an important part of the ride to help tell a story, now it's borderline boring.
