From what I understand, it's working now because malem fixed it. It is working now for me as well.

Forum software upgrade
Today I can't get the forums to load with either of my browser apps on my phone (safari and mercury). On some refreshes it will momentarily show the page, but then goes all white and blank. I thought it might be an issue with my phone/app until I checked with a second browser. Tapatalk app still works.

Meal Deals, and meal deals
I doubt removing the salad at Festhaus is permanent (or hope not), but simply confusion. When I was there yesterday, the young man working the register told me the salad wasn't programmed into the system as part of the dining plan and apologized because he took extra-long clicking away to make it work on his side. He clearly recognized it was /supposed/ to be included. Today, you probably got someone who didn't know/hadn't been taught how to circumvent this problem (and it hasn't been fixed yet). I forget, do they have the tv-monitor menus at that location? If so, does the meal plan logo show on the salad? Presumably they still have the prints about the meal plan (I've seen them next to registers, and next to the maps at the front gate) and I am sure they haven't printed new ones. I personally would take one of those into guest services and explain your trouble. They need to know about it.

Does Racer count as 2 credits???
I've always considered it one ride (even when one side ran backwards). It's not until I started counting credits recently that I even realized there was a question about that.

Where is Vince Guaraldi at the park?
They played it after the end of the fireworks playlist last night. I was happy to hear it even though I was rushing through the parking lot trying to get out of the area before the storm hit.

The Story of Mystic Timbers (Spoilers)
After riding Flight of Fear again, now I'm wondering if maybe aliens might have something to do with the things that haunt the woods near the late Miami River Lumber Co. The military division that is trying to keep the UFO hidden in FoF would probably have the funding and motive to cover the security cameras and guards of Mystic Timbers in a way a lumber company that abandoned the facility 30-some years ago never would. Also, @Shaggy posted this image as part of his Sit On It Facebook. It's from a special park guide from the year Beast opened. I've cropped it just to show the sign which explains the storyline of The Beast to parkgoers. (I feel like we need one for Mystic Timbers). It says: It sure sounds familiar. Apparently in the almost 40 years since then, they've decided too many people have been lost and are trying to warn people off rather than draw them in.

How was your ride on Mystic Timbers?
Anybody who asked me at the very beginning, "what do you think is in the shed?" I replied "screens." Hearing others get all excited about the vast number of possibilities, over the fall and winter, I personally still pretty much stuck to my initial belief. I'm definitely one who loves speculation, but I have to admit the park itself wasn't overhyping the shed or I probably would have started to think there would be a lot more to it. And while I was fundamentally correct about the screens, I've still been impressed by the implementation and by the bits that happen in addition to what goes on the screens. And I'm really looking forward to the possibilities of what additional things they could do in the future.

The Most Ridiculous Thing a Ride Operator has told you.
^it very much used to be a thing at KI and the employees don't appear unhappy about it in the yearbooks I have. I think it could make a big difference to bring back different costuming in different themed areas, but it would make it more difficult to shuffle employees to different areas.

Oktoberfest Area Facelift?
^it actually was available in the festhaus, on the meal plan, two years ago I believe. I guess it wasn't popular enough to keep.

Ridership counts?
Yeah, I should have rephrased that to "the way to get the most wet from the ride is on the observation deck." I generally prefer not to get thoroughly soaked like that either. The first time I tried it, when I was 13, it was like a firehose had been turned on me. The force of the water folded my contact in half and shoved it way up under my eyelid, even though my eye was barely cracked. Thought I lost it entirely for a few minutes which was a problem because they each cost like $70 in those days (which I had to personally pay for as a condition from my parents for being able to get them at all that young). I also was attending sleep-away Girl Scout camp at the time and would have had to wear my glasses the rest of the week (I hated my glasses).

Ridership counts?
^yeah, as I remember it, there were long waits for the ride when it was new. Standing on the observation deck has always been the best way to get wet from it, though.

Ridership counts?
^yes it was. I have a hard time adapting to the change so I often fall back to using the old name.

How was your ride on Mystic Timbers?
^you do have a point. As much as I've heard people lambasting the shed, I've not heard anyone say they won't be back because it was overhyped (even in all the hyperbole tossed around). On the other hand, I have heard mentions and questions about #WhatsInTheShed from people who are not frequent KI guests. So it did work on broadness of interest. I don't know if it got many in the park who wouldn't have otherwise, but it may continue to reverberate. "You went to KI last weekend? What was in that shed they've been talking about?" "Oh, the shed wasn't much but you've got to ride this coaster!"

Oktoberfest Area Facelift?
They took it down when they were using heavy equipment in the area to build the Coke station. As for why they didn't put it back up when they were done, I don't have any answers.

The Story of Mystic Timbers (Spoilers)
For me, the real sticking point of the story is the "only open for one day" part. There's the sign in the queue about number of days without an accident (five or seven I think), and the whole place (especially the shed) has more of a lived-in look (with the way personal items, tools, and storage are used) than an "abandoned brand-new" look to me. The truck also looks like it was used for a long time prior to the wreck and the name painted on the side doesn't look terribly newer than the truck. Maybe this location was supposed to be an expansion of Miami River Lumber, but that only explains the truck and not the rest. Also, being abandoned for 30 years, why so much modern security watching the place? An actual guard (possibly more than one, I think the voice in the queue and lift hill are different), on location? At an abandoned facility that was never used and presumably never will be? Who's paying for all this? There's definitely more going on here they're trying to cover up

The Story of Mystic Timbers (Spoilers)
^^ are you referring to "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by Frankie Valli? Because it starts with "You're just too good to be true..." If so, yes, I've heard it. Along with Cars, Maneater, and Total Eclipse of the Heart. Oh and better than relying on my crappy memory, the lady I mentioned (Amy Steele from Holovis) gets up to talk at about 12:30 on this video

The Story of Mystic Timbers (Spoilers)
On Media Day, one of the people who got up on the podium to speak was from, I believe, the company that did the preshow (so what you see on the screens in the queue and hear over the speakers before the station). She gave a rundown of the supposed history, but it really doesn't make a lot of sense when you compare it with some of the other theming... From what I remember of what she said, in the early 1980s, when looking for a location to build the new Miami River Lumber Company, they found an old shack in the woods that was said by locals to have been abandoned/avoided due to mysterious disappearances. They tore down the shack and began to build for their company (because why wouldn't you want to build at the location of a haunted shack?), with the Shed being in roughly the location of the original shack. There were some disappearances but eventually the place was built and they opened: for one day! Something happened and everyone fled, wrecking the work truck against the post in their haste before continuing on foot. And the Shed has been sitting abandoned ever since.

Traffic alert: I-71 at Jeremiah Morrow Bridge
Remember we are talking about sound waves through solid (the ground) not through the air, which don't dissipate as quickly as thunder. I don't think it was the explosives we heard, but when all of that weight hit the ground. There may be something special about the flow of bedrock or other materials within the earth that made this area more likely to hear it, but I've heard reports from a pretty wide area up here, and zero alternatives as to what it may have been.

I think they are: I saw pics of them on Twitter before the season began, presumably on the KI Merchandising account. I saw them in person last week and was tempted

I wonder if I just heard that all the way up here in Springboro. I heard what sounded like thunder, but there was nothing on the radar when I checked.
