  1. I know it's too late to help you, but we found out last night that Chick-Fil-A was open until midnight. Many/most of the restaurants not on International Street close an hour before closing.
  2. It has ranged from being twice as long of waits after it started than there were before closing, to being walk ons the whole time. It all depends on how full the park is and how nice the weather is (which are pretty related). Usually, even when it has been busy, though, crowds usually tend to drop off as the night goes on. So towards midnight it may be all walk ons even if it was busy earlier. Tl;dr: it all depends and is hard to predict for sure, but should be fun if you can stay till midnight.
  3. The same way they get people back there for Urgent Scare at Haunt? It's not an ideally situated path, but probably better than The Bat's.
  4. ^yes, I've noticed a surprising number of young people who cite Vortex as their favorite coaster in the park.
  5. ^WindSeeker makes me feel as secure and safe as I think I could be at that height. It is really pretty gentle: the only fear factor is the height if you're scared of such things. My only fear is getting stuck up there when I need to use the restroom, personally. But it has only very rarely ever been stopped and needed evac.
  6. Not Kings Island related but worth a mention. I follow a few Pokémon Go pages/groups on Facebook. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. there is a post about something new in the game, one of the first five comments is "people still play this?" I'd like to reply with "people still follow groups for things they don't play?" but it breaks my vow to try to be positive. I mean, geez, tho. I have such a full feed from the different things I like (friends, KI, cats, horror, Pokémon Go, knitting all come to mind) I surely don't have the time, energy, or interest it would take to troll pages about things I don't like. It seriously is as easy to unfollow as make a comment and would completely solve these peoples' "problem."
  7. I really believe that the biggest blow to intelligent public discourse in my lifetime began when news organizations started allowing unmoderated anonymous posting to be shown directly under their articles. It was the journalists who put in the work of writing and researching, the news org put in the money and administration to maintain web presence, and they held no small amount of authority and responsibility for what was written in their articles; but then they allowed every jerk with internet access to raise their voices to nearly the same level, without the requirement of either thought, effort, or culpability. Newspapers and magazines used to publish letters to the editors: not just positive reactions, but dissenting opinions. The difference was that they didn't publish everything anyone thought to send in, they filtered it down to the most coherent and well-thought-out arguments. Cranks wrote plenty of letters but were rarely published: they were mostly confined to airing their opinions to family, friends, and random strangers. With the ability to say nearly anything anonymously, with almost no effort, the idea "everyone is entitled to my opinion" became so ingrained in the public psyche (like the nearly-as-damaging "the customer is always right") that even people who aren't loud mouthed jerks give it a certain amount of leeway. So even when the anonymity is taken away someplace like Facebook, cranks think whatever they have to say is so important that they feel free to post it alongside their names. Actually, that is one good thing to come from Facebook, though: by making people actually take ownership of their comments, I've learned enough about what is going on inside the head of certain acquaintances to steer clear of them. Life is too short to spend it with negative unconstructive people.
  8. I've noticed it before, and it's not just Kings Island. It's particularly pointless to me, because if you're following something on Facebook presumably it's something you like. If not, why not spend your time focusing on something you do like? If you've had a specific bad experience, taking it to guest services is a better line to getting things rectified than making rude comments on a random post. I try very hard to be as positive as possible about the things I enjoy, at the very least in public spaces. Otherwise you're making either yourself look stupid (I hate this thing so I follow it on Facebook) or you're discouraging the people involved in your hobby, workers and other fans alike.
  9. Not to speak about which rides you may or may not fit into, but I really don't think you're going to run into any ride ops at Kings Island that will let you ride unsafely, just because they "want you to shut up and get on with the ride." The newer coasters have sensors that won't allow the train to go if the restraint isn't closed far enough, and the ones like Beast have a certain distance (number of clicks) where the restraint needs to be, which they do check if they have any suspicion it isn't far enough (I'm always getting measured by "the nail" because I tend to like my lap bar a little loose even tho I'm under 200 lbs). They do make good tries to help riders push restraints to the required level, but if they aren't able to they don't just let it go in the interest of speed. The worst that would happen is that you are told you aren't able to ride, and have to get off. No one is going to send you off with an unsafe restraint.
  10. Me and the No Chickenses got our tickets. Looking forward to it!
  11. Just for clarification, since I've never been to the park before: what are included (or excluded) as "classic rides"? Are we only going to be able to ride the ones on ERT during the ERT?
  12. I'm surprised I had a little difficulty finding this on their site, but this is what it looks like I don't know what park might be getting it but I would assume not a large one. Very curious to see it in action. I guess it works similarly to a Larson Looper but two trains?
  13. ^^to be fair, I had a Banshee twist ice cream cone a couple summers ago completely collapse when I went to lick it (it was extraordinarily hot and humid that day). I turned to the booth and asked a worker if I could get a bowl (because I caught most of the ice cream in my hands and was cradling it), and they just replaced it (and cleaned up my mess) no questions asked. I get exceptional value from my dining plan personally, in no small part because I get meals about four times a week while the park is open. But, I also actually very rarely encounter problems at all, much less serious problems. I don't know if my going on weekdays and avoiding peak times accounts for it, or if I have just been lucky and others unlucky. In my handful times to guest services that have been for negative reasons, I've always had very satisfactory outcomes as well. I am quite surprised they didn't just print you up some Beagle Bucks to refund your order rather than make you wait for the food service supervisor. It does suggest to me they realized it was a more serious matter than could be resolved with a simple refund, but I don't understand why you have had so much trouble getting resolution from food services since then. I hope they ultimately come through in a way that is satisfactory. I'm concerned about the quality of the chicken now, too, and I do think that is something they need to resolve with their supplier. The kids frying these up would have no way of knowing something like that was inside the breading.
  14. I was also just thinking loading would probably be a capacity nightmare on that. The one @fyrfyter linked looks interesting and much quicker to load and unload. I haven't been specifically searching for one, but I haven't yet seen a ride KI doesn't have that would be perfect for the Flight Commander pad. Everything looks either low capacity, not thrilling, or vomit-inducing (so not a "fun" thrill)*. So, personally, I'm ok with their waiting for the right ride to be created. *except possibly the screaming swing, but as others have mentioned it is unlikely Cedar Fair will bring one to KI, and it does offer a somewhat similar experience to what we already have in Delirium.
  15. That location has been closed for games ever since they started using it as Kill Mart. Which I believe means it wasn't open for the 2015 season either, unless I'm remembering wrong. Its closure makes it feel even more dead on that end of Coney Mall, until one gets to Vortex, Shake Rattle and Roll, and WindSeeker. They almost feel like their own separate area now. I wouldn't be surprised if they are keeping that area unused at the moment because Flight Commander's old pad area and the current entrance to Dinos Alive may just be central to their plans for their next big coaster.
  16. This is very tempting. I have only been to Coney for the International fireworks competition several years ago and things were so packed with people I didn't even really see they /had/ any rides. And it's the day after my birthday, so 'treat myself' right? I'd also like to know what the deadline is.
  17. I believe on a Facebook group, someone mentioned that they noticed one stake said "geese" and another something like "5th day", leading them to believe they will be doing a 12 Days of Christmas thing. Seems likely.
  18. So far it is lighter than the last few Tuesdays. Just walked on Beast and I'm in what looks like a 15 min wait for Mr. T.
  19. 3, 5, and 7. Doors open a half hour before showtime and preshow starts 10 minutes before.
  20. ^I had noticed it some this season, yes. I don't remember it happening the last couple times (earlier this week) but I don't know if it's just that I got used to it.
  21. I did notice a boy during my last visit to Kings Island get off of a ride due to fear. It made an impression because I do rarely see it. And I'm at the park open->close a couple times a week. So... I think you may have something.
  22. With me (although I think it would still offend my young friend's sensibilities :)) but only if they run a single train. Since the blue engine has red trim, it would look particularly odd with the green and gold cars IMHO.
  23. As another woman, I want to chime in and agree using the park photographer in front of the sign at the fountains. Would be awesome!
