  1. As I have discussed it with one of the people who created the new playlist for I-Street (he put in a lot of hours of work on it), I can guarantee you it isn't just "the same as KD's", although it may have some overlap of individual songs. Some of my best time the past couple days was spent sitting by the fountains chatting with friends and enjoying the ambiance. It looks like Oakley (or as I like to call him, Stumpy) has been doing a little bit of renovations in between Beast's upper and lower queues: I was on the fence about getting the drink plan, although it is the first year I even considered buying it thanks to the disposable option. I did, and I already have used it at least seven times. It is definitely going to be worth it for me!
  2. Having all three trains on the track today made for a bit longer time in the shed (and presumably faster lines) which I personally found very positive. For me the only drawback to spending more time in the shed was that it was already getting a bit stifling hot in there. I don't know if there is going to be AC or at least fans, but if not, this is going to be a real problem when summer gets here.
  3. I was leaving at 8, and as I drove through the parking lot to leave, saw the entire bus and RV area is parked up with cars, as were all of the rows clear to the end of the lot by Great Wolf. Possibly were a handful of spots open from people leaving, and probably some open on the Soak City side, but I've almost never seen it quite this parked up outside of holidays and summer (or Haunt) Saturdays. Kings Island is definitely popular today!
  4. I want to try to listen to the lift hill audio from off-ride, because yeah, it's hard to hear over the chain. After a dozen rides, I more or less got what it said but it's difficult. I also would like to hear all of what is said in the queue videos without people talking over them, but that's unlikely any time this season
  5. During the pause before entering the shed, I was usually laughing and trying to catch my breath because of the elements in that curve. It just tickled me so much every time, because the expectation is "the ride is almost over, we're just heading into the brakes, things should be winding down" and the elements don't look like much as the track curves around to enter the shed. Then you get forcefully tossed to one side, then the other, full steam ahead until the brake. I totally imagine the tree from the logo asking "oh you thought it was over, did you?"
  6. Wild! I had so much fun today on my dozen or so rides I managed between Media Day and First Riders. There is a fairly significant difference, IMO, depending on which side of the train I ride, even more than I noticed between front of the train or back. The left side doesn't throw you out of your seat as much as the right. It's still fun, but it offers a tamer more relaxing ride for anyone looking for that. I'm not going to discuss in detail the actual contents of the shed, but just in case someone really wants to go in clean I am going to use spoiler tags. This ride is just gorgeous from all angles, whether riding it or observing. There are some amazing areas where the ride interacts with the WWC queue area (it almost feels like you could shake hands with a rider from the bridge just before the turntable), and there are so many picturesque spots to watch or photograph from. Even without the train or WWC running while I rode, there was so much to look at in the surrounding areas while on the ride. It will be absolutely amazing when all three are going at once: the interactions are going to add such excitement. I can't say that I prefer either a daytime or nighttime ride. During the night, there is that excitement of wildly and blindly racing through the dark woods, but during the day one gets a still wild ride and the bonus of being able to see this beauty! To sum up, I didn't even begin to get my fill of this coaster yet, and I am looking forward with great interest to getting to know it even better as this season goes on. Each ride just makes me want another.
  7. I've been looking forward to seeing this! Thanks for sharing!
  8. I thought about not watching the video but I was weak. I can't believe that in much less than 24 hours now I will be able to do just that!
  9. If you haven't gotten your cup yet, it doesn't cost a fee to switch it over to disposables. Because they didn't have both available as options when renewing in the fall, they're allowing anyone who purchased the drink bottle then to choose which way to go. The fee is only if you decide to change from one to the other later.
  10. I think they meant the part in the email is boilerplate. It seems obvious to me that if you are switching to a gold pass from a platinum pass you are going to need a new physical card. It does suck they didn't include a code to scan to delay having to visit pass processing tho. If the lines at the gate are short, I'd personally try going through with the old pass until the lines at processing get shorter. Worth a try and all they can do is tell you no.
  11. ^when they offered the buffet in Picnic Grove for a $5 up charge during Haunt, I took advantage of the deal every time I was there for it. I don't particularly like the idea of upcharges at every location, but it was nice with a buffet.
  12. I found one over the winter and was extremely shocked. Until I picked it up and found it wasn't connected.
  13. It's possible, but they certainly looked consistently self-lit.
  14. Looks like the lights on the trains stay on from the station until the top of the lift hill, when they turn off.
  15. Green lanes are for /any/ parking, too. If it's shorter on a green lane you can scan your gold or platinum pass there, you aren't required to wait for a yellow lane. It just doesn't work the other way: there isn't an employee to take cash or credit at a yellow lane.
  16. Southern yellow pine https://KICentral.com/rides/mystic-timbers/ (I always forget this site has non-forum content too... only found that through a web search :-| )
  17. I believe the strobe lighting may refer to the flashes they use for taking on-ride photos.
  18. Last year they made it so the parking lot opened an hour before park official open, or a half hour before ERT. Since this is a passholder only event, I have no idea when the lot will open Hopefully at 3 or earlier, because that's probably when I'll shoot for.
  19. I love that you are putting your daughter ahead of your own fears. You rock! Welcome to KIC! As far as what you might/might not fit on, it all really depends on your personal weight distribution. If you don't want to ride stuff or are worried, there is no problem waiting in lines with your group, then simply walking through to the exit rather than ride. If you do decide to try a coaster, the newer ones have test seats outside the entrance so you can see if you'll fit before even getting in line. You should be able to ride White Water Canyon if you are ok with walking around wet for a bit afterward. There is also the train. Both are going to offer some great views of the new Mystic Timbers coaster as well! Although it's not a whole lot of fun, having someone to hold everyone's bags/etc while they ride is always appreciated. Personally, I enjoy people-watching and just being in the park atmosphere enjoyable enough that I could have fun even if I don't ride anything. Assuming you go after the Origins show starts for the season (it might not until after your visit, I don't know what the start date is yet), I can't recommend it enough! Love the show!
  20. You can donate on your own page to make the $100 minimum. You don't need to get donations from others. It's what I did.
  21. And really, regardless of what food one prefers at the park, the more locations that are included, the more spread-out the traffic. So it would be a little short-sighted to think "oh I don't want to eat there so I don't even care if it's included." I've never eaten at Subway or Skyline at the park but I appreciate they are included, because anyone in those lines isn't standing between me and my lunch
  22. Their chicken chunks, mini corn dogs, and fries (so, um, all of what was on dining). Even though the one in Coney is called Potato Works as well, none of their food is actually the same.
  23. Reds has been on meal plan, that's not new (although it was missing from the list through a good deal of this last off-season). The lines there were mostly determined by the number/lack of available servers. I've heard rumors of some changes that may help that problem though. I'm still just rooting for the Rivertown Potato Works to still be a part of the plan.
  24. Yeah, I think those really are replacements. The old ones were two-tone, and the surface texture on the darker bit was a dry orange-peel that I don't think mere paint would have obliterated.
  25. Tom + Chee confirmed (in the comments) that they're supposed to be on dining this year, even though the KI website page still hasn't been finalized to include it.
