I really enjoyed the show. I was very surprised to see a certain performer's entrance method, I won't give that away. I'm charmed by the personalities of most of the performers already. The addition of a live drummer added a special something to the show. The new acts are interesting and well done. I miss our previous performers, tho. I also felt like the show is missing a certain "wow factor." I want to see more performances though, because I think it will improve over time.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

The green and orange thing was started by someone claiming this year's cup colors were a clue. You know, rather than tropical orange and green being chosen for some... other... plunging reason. -
Aaaaaaaaaah!!! There are going to be two floral tunnels! They're building a second one farther back! Also, on the train, the spieler said they're having trouble with WWC and it will be "open later". It is still drained as of this moment. All that I can see of the queue from either the train or DB seems to be finished except the second tunnel as shown above. Which looks very likely to be finished soon as far as being ready for people to walk through. Edit: a second spieler said WWC will definitely open tomorrow... I wonder if the tubes will still take quarters or if they will "upgrade" them to only accept game cards?

I'm still so excited about this!

If the ivy in my yard is any example, I don't think it will take too many years. Maybe a couple.

I'm so excited! There ARE ivy plants all along the sides of the new WWC entrance tunnel! Confirmed! I'll add pics when I can get back there, so far I only saw it from riding DB.

I just learned that the free active duty/veteran military ticket offer (as well as discounted friends/family admission) includes today, so it might be a little busier than I expected. It's good they included Friday, I just didn't expect it because the other Memorial Day promotion (the buffet) is only the other three days.

I don't think it's been mentioned much here yet, but it looks like the new WWC entrance may feature a floral tunnel. https://twitter.com/KICentral/status/735921636445179905

That picture is taken from the train, it is between the turntable and the reservoir, the same area where the pumps had been sitting when they were taken out and the one refurbished or replaced. Pic from a few weeks ago, very similar angle: -

I figured /you/ realized it, but I was trying to nip in the bud people going off half cocked, like when people thought the snapchatter had actual insider info. -

^ not the official Kings Island account. Interesting nonetheless. -
Even? That is a synonym for flat, in some uses. I assumed it was where you were headed.

Friday is calling for a lower chance of storms and there will likely be more school groups. Also, people may be taking off the day from work to extend the holiday weekend even farther. Busier than Thursday but probably lighter than a weekend. I'll be at the park for the Cirque Origins preview (and the rest of the day Friday) so I'll find out if I'm right

The lack of butts is definitely the sweeps. I was there one day when staffing was very low recently, and also noticed an unusual number of cigarette butts. As the day went on and more employees were showing up, it went back to what I'm used to, almost never seeing a cigarette butt. I'm actually a little surprised with as low as the crowds had been that morning that there were enough disrespectful smokers to make as much of a mess as they did. Because the disrespectful ones are a very small fraction of smokers, they just draw much more attention.

The pass holder preview is coming this Friday (booked up very quickly). KI tweeted a couple pictures from the show, it looks to have a sort of Midsummer Night's Dream feel to it with wood elves and faeries. https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/735237045858209793 https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/735285092663332865

There was a tweet about the ride op employees starting for the year. It looks to me like they're likely still on schedule for opening this weekend. https://twitter.com/kirideops/status/735230403909459968 My only question is whether that gives the concrete enough time to cure? I'd have thought so, but I tried to research it and some things made it sound like it might not.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

My impression from the stakes and distances was of planning a footbridge crossing the ravine. But, I haven't really studied coaster designs to be able to make reasonable guesses from what I've seen. -

They had several extra stakes ready to go that said "set pile" bundled together next to the fence. The ones already down in the ravine were, in my estimation, only one or two yards apart from one another. -

Nostalgia was definitely the theme of the Scavenger Hunt at Coasterstock. The original 11 (see the faq at Kings Island's website for the list), plus pics mostly referring to things and rides that have left. The pics were of the kiddie train ride tracks, remnants of the original Bat, base for the speakers that used to line the queue for Top Gun, the old special season pass entrance, and the drinking fountain that I believe predates the park. -

And something lemonade. I assume frozen, but the first word looks like something else. -

Kind of back on topic, remember the sign behind Slaughterhouse I had hoped to see during The Beast tour because I thought it might be a clue? It wasn't. It is for Dollar Days. Don't know when/if it is going to happen this year. I can make out what looks like ice cream, hot dogs, cotton candy, soft drinks, rope ladder. -
Calling for storms, weekday in May, not a Friday (more school groups seem to come on Fridays). Yes, I'd say there will be low crowds. The storms may keep rides down sporadically through the day, but when they're up, the lines will likely be short. And, welcome to KIC!

I logged 78,771 steps over Coasterstock. Even though I did the scavenger hunt and took nearly 10k steps in that hour, I ended up taking it a lot easier the rest of the day as a result. We were eating in the Festhaus and I caught my first Hollywood Nights show (fantastic!) and ended up hanging out long enough to see it a second time. To be fair, I had also been at the park open-close the prior Monday. I've more or less been using the season so far as "training" to get me into shape to be able to handle the three days of Coasterstock this year. I don't think I did too bad of a job. I've been a little sore and tired, but only hobble around like an old lady for a few minutes in the morning before my joints warm up. I had been planning to visit KI today to take advantage of the beautiful weather, but decided to give myself a little more recovery time instead. There were many wonderful things about this Coasterstock, and a couple things that cast a shadow over the event. Overall, the positive greatly outweigh the negative. I have met so many new people, and gotten to know some better, and spend time with friends I haven't seen much lately. The activities were wonderful, but what stands out most looking back on the weekend is the people.
