Meanwhile At Brand SIX
Magenta Lizard replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I agree with that, if its the actual plan. I love a balanced park with something to make everyone happy. -
According to my count, which lined up when KI officially announced 100 days, yeah, I'd say you're right about 57. I've enjoyed IAmABanshee's posts too much to quibble about it tho

Meanwhile At Brand SIX

I really have to wonder about that. Teens on average don't have the disposible income they did, say 15 or 20 years ago. I would think young families were more likely to spend money inside the park. And, depending upon the particular teens that find the park appealing, they can create a culture that makes other potential demographics stay away because they feel unsafe. It's not the gameplan I would have chosen. -
Specialty acts.... Makes me happy.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Magenta Lizard replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Having read between the lines of the documentation of this fiasco so far, it seems to me the court has shown interest in preventing the closing and dissolution of the park. I'm not implying immorality or anything, but a lot of decisions seem designed to give the park every opportunity available to not fail. So if it comes down to the court to allow or disallow opening of the water park, I would expect them to allow it. Whether that will be enough, having read between the lines so far, I would be a little surprised. I still hope, though, I don't like to see the loss of any park. -
I was looking at the map earlier (to get an idea of the size of the BBoBH building) and I'm not certain the new entrance will even shorten the line all that much. It's a little hard to judge with the trees in the way, tho. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person to tell better. I'm very interested to see how things develop. I don't think this is just about modernizing the funnel cake building or putting in a new game, but I definitely don't have a clue where they're heading yet.

Only half the building is used by BBoBH, but the building is approximately the same size as the Festhaus. It's larger than the KI Theater.

I like to eat as soon as the food stalls open, at 11, to beat the crowds. Otherwise, I'd suggest waiting until around 3, when there is another lull.

Cirque Imagine at Canada's Wonderland wasn't as good the year before we got it, from what I've seen. I'm excited and curious to see what comes this year.

I just noticed StartSkydiving.com is listed as a sponsor on the visitkingsisland.com website. That's new, isn't it?

I wonder how much (if any) money it will save to remake the coaster vs building a new one from scratch? -
Mr. Decker could be showing up with blueprints for any reason, yes. Taking a picture of him and sharing it on social media is telling, though. Its possible they're just trolling their fans, and the blueprints were for something entirely mundane, but I would be surprised if that was all it was. Although, at this point of the offseason I'd be a little excited about getting to see plans for something entirely mundane...

I depressed myself earlier this week trying to find more info about what is coming this year. Instead I ended up on the website of the young women who did the trapeze act. I am going to miss getting to see them perform every week.

Apparently, even though it is still missing from the main website, Fast Lane will be returning. Someone asked in a Facebook comment on Kings Island's post about the parking tolls, and they responded "Fast Lane will be available to purchase in advance online prior to your visits, or when you arrive at the time."

I was just looking at the postcard again. Anyone know what the "No. 76" at the end of the text might be referencing? Number 76 of what? Parks, coasters, address, phone number, post card in the series?
-
I've been watching that develop in that old photos of Cincinnati Facebook page. The Chester Park Tickler doesn't appear to have been a traditional coaster. Curious, indeed. http://youtu.be/hqhfjSkYH-E There is a Tickler at Coney Island NY, but it isn't wooden. Possibly the name hearkens back to an earlier one?

So exciting!!! Even without mystery, I couldn't wait. Now we get to decode during the wait, too!

Generally, its only considered gambling if the prize is money. Otherwise, its simply a pay game. At the very least, at carnivals, etc, the games where you can win money back are the only ones where there is even a suggestion of being restricted to 18 and above (not always very well enforced).

Uh oh. If its only for renewals, guess I'll be attending alone. We bought my husband's new pass and processed it before November, but it wasn't a renewal. I'll just bring him opening day I was going both days anyway.

Welcome to KIC!

I'm fairly certain that a preview event for passholders was one of the things mentioned in the promotions for renewing passes in the fall. Is it being mentioned in the season passholder portal yet? Edit: I checked myself, not yet. We still have a couple months before needing to know, anyway.

You could even consider joining the meetup later this month, to get to know a few of us before the season starts. A lot of members also come to opening day (and season pass preview night) and there will probably be some sort of informal get-togethers at the park that day.
