If it's just a smokehouse I would expect it'll probably just be announced via Tweet or a blog on their website, nothing formal, and probably after Winterfest is over (not that that isn't obvious with only one day left).

I'd be interested to see if Kings Island considers a daily schedule all through December next year. Festival of Lights already does it and doesn't struggle to meet attendance needs. I think one of the struggles would be getting some of their shows to go daily as they don't even do that with the shows they have through the summer so they would need a day or two of rest for the entertainers. I don't think they would have the same reasons they have during the spring and fall of why they don't open during the weekdays (majority of the workforce being high school students) as from what I have observed is most of the employees at Winterfest have been above high school age.

How about doing a New Year's countdown event with fireworks at midnight or maybe do it at 10 instead for the kids like the zoo does? I mean, it's not like Kings Island doesn't know how to do fireworks...

Does Snoopy have a meet n greet during winterfest?
dtk1378 replied to pkifreak23's topic in Kings Island
Snoopy is out quite a bit during Winterfest in Planet Snoopy, although I am not aware what the times are for official meet and greets, my assumption is they probably have one immediately following at least one of the shows they have in Planet Snoopy. -
I think it would be cool if they opened up the pathway from the end of Coney Mall to Rivertown as I think that would be a good area to put some lights up and walk through. Plus it would give them the opportunity to open up Shake Rattle & Roll, oh and of course 3 Point Challenge so we can have basketballs!

Only issue with that is you would need to have some type of reason for it to tie back to Guardians of Galaxy other than assuming that everyone going through X-Base has watched the movie. I don't see Cedar Fair buying the rights to have anything displayed that references Guardians of Galaxy, there's a certain other park that recently made a pretty big investment in an attraction based around that movie.

I don't see a need for any more rides being open than already are, the ride lineup is already pretty good especially for those with younger kids. Plus this let's some of the rides that don't usually get a lot of love during the summer some time to shine (looking at you Zephyr).

I just watched a POV of the Haunted Mine Drop and it definitely looks pretty cool and with a pretty good theme. Although I've never ridden the ride it doesn't seem like something that should be over Mystic Timbers, but I can't really say for sure without ever riding the Haunted Mine Drop.

I can't believe how crowded it is tonight, I don't think Kings Island could have even anticipated this type of turnout for Winterfest this year. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

I agree with those saying that we don't really need anymore coasters open during Winterfest, it forces Kings Island to be more creative in ways to get visitors in the park as they have shown they have the capability of doing. I fear that if they had more coasters open they would get lazy with the entertainment aspect of Winterfest which is what I care more about than riding some coasters in sub-freezing temperatures. I think we have been a little spoiled with the nicer than average temperatures the last few weeks and only having one coaster open did kinda stick out as most coasters at the park would be able to operate at the temperatures we had, but that's all going to change this weekend.

If they did Fast Lane instead of the SRL for Mystic Timbers during Winterfest you would still have the same exact issue of people being in the other line that can get on faster. I mean, unless you get upset about Fast Lane then you really shouldn't be upset about SRL because it's the same thing just that the people in SRL are in that queue for a different reason than those in the line for Fast Lane. And if the people in the SRL aren't truly single riders then so be it, it's not going to change how long I need to wait in the main queue, either way there is going to be people waiting in that line.

KIC interviewed by Cincy Magazine

The price point for the event in 2005 also played a major role in attendance which Cedar Fair has rectified with this new version of Winterfest. -
It was nice riding the train with no spieling during WinterFest, maybe they'll keep that But my money is on it coming back in Spring...

Themed music for each area of the park - especially after having seen it done so fantastically at WinterFest Antique Cars - After going to Cedar Point and my daughter wanting to ride this ride endlessly, I truly see the appeal of bringing this back, even with gas costs A good dark ride - Doesn't have to be Enchanted Voyage or Phantom Theater, just something worth going and sitting down and getting to enjoy a nice calm "adventure"... Boo Blasters is just an eye sore nowadays honestly KI & MV Railroad Theming - There is so much potential with the train ride it is sad how much it gets overlooked and has slowly rotted away over the years from what it used to be. I had high hopes for it with WinterFest returning but even then the theme for the ride wasn't more than putting up some lights. The train ride at Cedar Point blows it away with theming and is still able to be used as a transportation utility to get from one end of the park to the other. Trams - I feel these were such a good gesture from the park for guests attending that may not be able to walk long distances. It doesn't even need to be the old gas powered trams, get in some type of electric powered trolley and/or street car would be good with me.

I agree, that's a perfect spot for a FunPix photo, although it may turn some away from doing it as they may think they are "required" to have FunPix to go into it.

Winterfest Then till Now - Opening Night Info
dtk1378 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I really liked the effects they had on the Eiffel Tower with the lights, it was really cool to see. Overall the park looks absolutely amazing with all the decorations for Winterfest, I will say it was kinda surreal to see some long lines on some rides that usually don't get much love such as Zephyr and the train. I was there from 6pm-10pm and I feel like I only scratched the surface of everything Winterfest has to offer! -
Maybe a smokehouse

I prefer the parking lot the way it is, keeps people from driving way too fast in the parking lot... well at least slows them down more than it would be if it was smooth pavement. I personally wish they would make it a gravel lot.

And hopefully that's the last time we have that long of a wait time with Winterfest coming back next year. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

I was thinking of going today, but with the weather how it is, last day of the year, all the special promotions right now... I thought it would be the perfect storm, which it sounds like it is. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Parking lot is packed, but the lines are mostly short, guessing that most are at the water park. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

Yep, not going to be at Kings Island that weekend either, I prefer to be able to eat food without waiting in a 30+ minute long line. Wouldn't be so bad if they had any other food stands open, but the only food stands they keep open during this is the ones that are doing the dollar days.

I rode it today, was just as good as it's ever been if not better! Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
