  1. You're kinda forced to like Madden since there is nothing to really compare it to...
  2. According to Coney Island's website it is still this at least: http://coneyislandpark.com/sunlite-pool Originally built in 1925, Sunlite Pool is STILL the world's largest flat-surfaced, recirculating swimming pool
  3. I made it pretty clear in my survey that 30+ minute wait times for "fast" food is not acceptable.
  4. The ride I remember most as a child was not The Beastie, was not the bumper cars, was not the log flume... it was the Smurf's Enchanted Voyage. I still distinctly remember that ride, and it also helps my parents took pictures while inside the Smurf's ride that I can look back and see now.
  5. Interesting, seems like a "he said, she said" type of situation on this one. Either way though, thoughts and prayers for a successful recovery for the child.
  6. Those are also the 3 most pleasing foods for the majority of children.
  7. I agree on the fake pumpkins, as cool as it would be, you would have to have someone doing a lot of maintenance throughout the whole year to get them to grow properly. And yes, insects LOVE pumpkins, so that could cause issues as well, especially with bees.
  8. It's usually announced on Twitter or Facebook a day or two in advance.
  9. It is used for the kids Halloween festivities, they dress them up in costumes. It used to be where they did the trick-or-treating as well. Never been a part of Haunt though, I believe they would still need to do the up-charge contractually (not that I've ever seen said contract) and I don't see many people in the Haunt crowd dropping money for that. Plus the motion sensors work much better during the day than they do at night.
  10. Sorry, none of those compare to Kings Island as a whole as far as value. Sure, they each have elements that compete or are superior to Kings Island, The Beach waterpark compared to Soak City, Escape the Room Challenge compared to Haunt attractions, etc. But there is no other entertainment complex within a 100 mile radius of Cincinnati that has rollercoasters, waterpark, Halloween attractions, live entertainment, among other things. The only place that comes close to competing on that scale is Coney Island of Ohio (which you failed to mention btw).
  11. That's how I felt that last Sunday when it was bring a friend day and dollar day on the same day. I had to wait over an hour in line for food at the main grille in Soak City. I was very close to saying we aren't renewing again, but then, Kings Island has a monopoly on amusement attractions in the area.
  12. To be fair, I was there all day yesterday and it wasn't hardly busy at all up until about 5pm then the Haunt crowd started arriving. It was a very nice day before that, almost everything was close to a walk on.
  13. Park was quite packed when I left, the scare actors over in Planet Snoopy (or whatever it's Haunt name is) had hardly any room to really even do any of their scaring they were supposed to do, just kinda kept on getting in the way of people lol. And yes, this was due to the flood of the lines for food going out into the walkway with half of Planet Snoopy roped off.
  14. I went through Dinosaurs Alive for the first time in several months this last Sunday and I gotta say I was quite impressed with it. It seemed like almost every animation effect was working which was the best I have seen it in years. I wonder if this means that they have put a renewed effort into doing some upkeep on the ole reptilians to get them as a true attraction again.
  15. Overflow for Preferred Parking, I believe. Do what? Confused Terp Well... you're the interpreter, figure it out for us!
  16. I think Kings Island should stick to the family entertainment, there is no need to have such a crazy atmosphere at an amusement park. My vote is to nix Halloween Haunt (but keep the kids Halloween event) and bring back Winterfest! (I know, I know, never gonna happen...)
  17. Well my post will be very Kings Island-centric as I am not a well traveled enthusiast but thought this was a fun idea either way as I posted in the other Golden Tickets thread, and since I am not as well traveled the categories will be open to any "park"... Best New Attraction (Amusement Park): Woodstock Gliders Best New Ride (Water Park): Um... the removal of Snoopy's Splash Dance? lol Best Park: Kings Island of course Best Water Park: Soak City Best Children's Park: Planet Snoopy Best Marine Life Park: Newport Aquarium Best Seaside Park: N/A Best Kids' Area: Planet Snoopy Cleanest Park: Kings Island Friendliest Park: Coney Island (Cin) Best Shows: Kings Island Best Outdoor Show Production: Kings Island Best Landscaping: Cincinnati Zoo Best Food: Cincinnati Museum Center Best Carousel: Cincinnati Zoo Best Water Ride (Park): White Water Canyon Best Water Park Ride: Rendezvous Run Best Indoor Water Park: N/A Best Indoor Roller Coaster: N/A Best Funhouse/Walk-Through: N/A Best Halloween Event: Halloween Haunt Best Christmas Event: Festival of Lights #1 Steel Roller Coaster: Diamondback #1 Wood Coaster: Beast Some creative categories: Best Flatride: Delirium Best New to you Ride (any ride you have not ridden until this year is eligible): Tempest (Coney Island CI) Best Park Rail Road: Cincinnati Zoo Best Operations: Coney Island (CI) Best Observation Tower: Kings Island Most Improved ride experience: Shake Rattle & Roll The Nostalgia Award: The Bat Best show: Cirque Imagine Most-anticipated-for-2016 award: Tropical Plunge The "Don't believe the hype" award: Vortex's demise Best Pool: Coney Island Best Employee: Don't know her name, but one of the girls that did the Cirque Imagine show seating people, she was always full of energy and very engaging with guests Best Musical Revue Show: Off the Charts Scariest Ride: Firehawk Best Scrambler: Coney Island Best Kids Ride: Surf Dog Most potential: Adventure Express / Boo Blasters on Boo Hill (tie)
  18. So just out of curiosity since I am not a very well traveled coaster enthusiast (outside of KI, Coney Island of Cincinnati is my only other park I have visited in the last 5 years), what would be YOUR choices for the categories that "Golden Ticket" gave out? I would be interested to see how much they differ from the "experts".

    Dollar Days

If the park can't staff a large workforce for food, then why promote a dollar days for food? In my 90 minutes in line at Soak City Sunday I saw paramedics treat 3 people, that were waiting in line, my assumption would be heat exhaustion since there is no shade to stand in while in line... you know, the other issue of Soak City.
  20. I really like Off the Charts which I have posted multiple times on here. I don't feel it's better than Playlist Live but I do understand their reasoning for moving to where they are now as opposed to where Peanuts Live is now as it could get pretty crowded. I always felt Playlist Live felt more like an intimate show as opposed to an event like Off the Charts does. If there is one thing I would love for Off the Charts to have next year would be a 10:00 show like Playlist Live had instead of the 9:30 show.
  21. Captain Invertigo sounds like a terrible super hero lol
  22. It's comparable to going to Kroger the day before Thanksgiving and them only having two checkouts open.
  23. In that case, you do NOT run a dollar day deal. Sure, having the people in the park is probably great short term, but all the people that won't come back due to poor service is terrible long term.
  24. Best part is, they have virtually every place closed that isn't participating in dollar days. The grill by Tidal Wave Bay, Snake Pit, Graeters in Soak City, Coca-Cola Marketplace all closed.
  25. I'm at 90 minutes waiting at Coconut Cove
