  1. Good points. I remember seeing a comparison somewhere of standard wood track and RMC track that probably made it look pretty wooden for RMC's sake. Guess Parks can say whatever they want about there rides. CP considers Pipescream a roller coaster, when it clearly is just a large version of the former Avatar ride.
  2. Isn't Outlaw Run a hybrid of sorts but still considered a wooden coaster because the wheels lay on the wood track. I'm pretty sure thats how that works considering Goliath is considered a Wood coaster even though it has a steel lift.
  3. Kinzel said he refused to put a flyer into CP. It is one coaster type that CP is missing so it technically is a gap. Not a necessary coaster type but nice to have.
  4. Ouimet has from day 1 been in control. In Kinzel's book he said the 2013 coaster for CP was supposed to be another giga. Obviously there is nothing but his word, but I believe Kinzel would be crazy enough to do that. That being said some people think Fury 325 was supposed to be that coaster, but got moved to the "CP of the south" by Ouimet to fill a gap. I think Ouimet's approach to parks is to fill gaps before going outside the box. What really is going to show how Ouimet operates his parks is when it comes down to the next KI coaster and whether or not the next coaster for CP fills the flyer gap. Five year plans get extended like Terp said but that doesn't mean things can't be evolved to fit new funds. IMO atleast obviously I'm just some enthusiast.
  5. While that would be really nice the only manufacturer to build a blitz coaster like that would be Mack with CF not working with Intamin. Unless B&M takes there new launch system and starts making some but I don't think KI would be building something like that 1st. I think that our next coaster won't feature many inversions unless we see an RMC woodie. The logical next coasters are either a modern woodie, in which there are many manufacturers, or a B&M of sorts, most likely a giga. These both utilize over banked turns and air time hill to add to the intensity. While there is nothing we NEED these are 2 coaster types that poeple have been wanting for awhile. I think our next coaster uses more over banked turns then inversions to build intensity. Not saying we don't see an inversion filled coaster just not likely imo.
  6. I didn't say it wouldn't be a great ride. I would love to see a multi launch, but with the downfall of Intamin in the US and No-one building BIG Macks it doesn't look likely. BUT you also have to consider that CF has been working with B&M for reliability and ROI. Building the first BIG Mack launch coaster in America is risky, especially with how much they cost. That is why I said "I think our only hope for a multi-launch is if B&M start making some." I didn't say it would be a bad ride. In that case what sounds more impressive "New 130ft launch coaster" or "Worlds tallest/fastest giga" One of these is going to draw a lot more attention which was my point.
  7. The big launch coaster IMO this year would be Taron being built in Germany. It is an intamin Multi launch with the themeing of a Disney Park. Currently in the US no one is working with Intamin or building Mack launch coasters the top manufacturers for launch coasters imo. With CF not working with Intamin anymore and the cost that a big Mack Launch coaster would be I doubt we see a big launch coaster anytime soon. Lets look at some numbers to support the cost stat on the top Mack launch coaster Helix. Helix cost roughly $30 million dollars for a 135 ft double launch coaster. Helix cost a little less then Fury 325 which is widely considered the #1 coaster not only this year but in the world. While a coaster like Helix would be something different and fit nicely in the park you are talking about spending that much money on something not very marketable like a giga. Our only hope IMO of getting a multi launch coaster is if B&M starts making some now that they have a standard launch system, as seen on Thunderbird. Helix POV (posted by Theme Park Review.)
  8. Unless RMC can make a BIG ride last long I'd rather see a GCI. While the RMC's are great they tend to lose momentum toward the end and are usually pretty short. Goliath is tall, fast and has some great elements BUT only lasts 50 seconds. While GCI is a great all around wooden manufacturer that builds quality rides. The only issue with that is I don't think GCI would be designing that big of a woodie. I think there tallest coaster is like 140 and that is coming out this year. Overall I think the next coaster will be a B&M of sort for the ROI. But then we see another big woodie possibly for the 50th anniversary.....
  9. Everyone else has torn this post apart. I'm just gonna say that the B&M giga coasters are NOT just taller hyper coasters. B&M hypers are focused around floater airtime. B&M gigas have a lot of over banked turns and are a lot more intense then the hypers. Also look at Steel Dragon 2000 which is a Morgan, that was the 2nd giga.
  10. What is your preferred wooden coaster manufacturer? They all bring there own unique experiences. RMC brings a lot of inversions which is great, but tend to lose the momentum towards the end and aren't the longest rides in the world. RMC is what everyone is looking towards the future. But can you put a coaster that sort of comes to a close gently in the same park as the LEGENDARY Beast helix idk. RMC would be my guess is to what company CF would use to build wooden coasters, but they haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet. GCI offers a lot of great turns mixed with airtime and offer an all around great ride. GCI is only getting better with work, coasters such as Goldstriker,Renegade,Prowler, and there biggest coaster yet Viper all look to be amazing additions to there parks. GCI usually hold up pretty well and seems to be one of the most reliable Woodie manufacturers, which CF seems to be going to, and is the most recent wooden manufacturer to work with them. CCI has now become Gravity Group. The big 3 GG rides I have been on are Raven,Legend, and the Voyage. All of these coasters are contenders in top 10 wooden coaster lists. They are a local company that has produced massive hits such as The Voyage or Ravine Flyer 2. My only issue with GG is that I hear there BIG coasters all tend to be similar to each other and don't offer very unique rides. Now that being said MOST coaster enthusiasts have The Voyage as their #1 woodie so having a coaster like that with The Beast in the same park could be HUGE. Whenever we get a new woodie I think these 3 companys are going to be the ones fighting for the job. These are the main manufacturers and they all are Unique it just depends what KI thinks would mix well with our current collection.
  11. Specifically at KI. Banshee's slow inline roll at the end is surprisingly my favorite element. it just gives it such a unique classic end to an amazing invert. Beast has to be the Helix. Going through it at any time is intense, but the Night rides are EPIC.
  12. Greg also mentioned some rides at Coasterstock that he was going to go ride. Most of the time these little teases are completely useless, BUT they get people talking. KI clearly knows how to get people talking without giving everything away (Banshee/Bat, Coasterstock). The funniest part is this is most likely just moving dirt but something so small is getting people talking.
  13. First issue: Terrain Second issue: That would be an awfully long path that would require an unrealistic amount of expense to populate with sufficient rides, facilities, games, food stands, etc. True, maybe they don't connect but that is a much more logical then building an RMC coaster over top Banshee track and using an old SOB station. Neither of our options are likely ever going to happen. I would much rather see a long path that doesn't have much going on for a while then a coaster on top of another coaster. I don't think either is going to happen btw, I think its more likely we see the DA area be replaced with a coaster. I also think the Crypt building will become a dark ride "coaster" before any massive expansion.
  14. It would be easier to just make a walk way underneath in between The Bat and Banshee that would go around and connect to X-Base. It would be much easier and better way to expand the park. It would make less bottlenecking and more area for flat rides/rollercoasters. There are so many possibilities with that land I personally would rather see a GCI like Viper, because RMC's IMO lose the momentum toward the end. Viper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrsYbFdfy18 POV posted by In the Loop. I just love how GCI mixes turns, airtime hills and delivers an intense ride all the way through. The more likely coaster to be next is a giga and with the death of StR it is most likely going to be a B&M. I love both of the B&M gigas so I would be happy to see either one.
  15. I think its clear for now Racer is safe. The most logical thing we lose is Dinosaurs Alive which had a 5 year contract I believe so they should be on the way out soon.
  16. Didn't Mack do Steel Dragon 2000. You know the 2nd Giga coaster. Edit: Nevermind that was Morgan. I think Mack would make a decent giga coaster. But I would rather see a Mack Blitz coaster.
  17. What I'm gathering from the comments is almost everyone wants an expansion. That being said coasters in that area should either being wing or launched to mix with the flying theme. Is it possible they connect the old SOB area to X-base and make a smaller coaster in that area. I think its time for those areas to be connected. This leads to less bottle necking and more space for things such as flats and coasters. The other option for expansion is where DA is. I hope that if there is an expansion it is a blitz coaster that flys through the trees and has an amazing launch. The only problem with that would be theming it to something that would fly through the woods and be flight related without it being a wing coaster. Either way I think we will see X-base expanded or connected to another part of the park in the next few years.
  18. If any of you guys have been on Falcons Fury I think that would be a great flat for X-Base. Something about being up that high and being flipped face toward the ground and dropping is really exhilirating. I think the best coaster type for an expansion back there would be a wing coaster like Thunderbird. Something that interacts with the forest instead of getting rid of most of it.
  19. IMO i would love a giga or something that compliments the rest of our coasters. Whether that be a Fury like ride that has overbanked turns and a lot of intense moments or a modern woodie that has an inversion or 2 and some great turns. BUT I don't know if they are going to spend 30+ million on a giga coaster just a few years after Banshee, even if they have the funds. I think a GCI would be great and a very different ride then our other woodies. I think a big GCI like Viper would be loved by not only enthusiasts but also the GP. The wildcard company that I would almost want to see build us something is Gravity Group, creators of the Voyage. If it is a coaster I think we will see a $15-20 million dollar investment instead of a $30 million like a Fury. That being said I think its clear there are 2 coaster types on peoples minds......Giga or Wood. KI has its options here, there is no coaster type we Desperately need, but there are some that might be favored.
  20. I was the car in front of Banshee's 2 millionth rider. It was crazy seeing so much management in the station waiting for a picture.
  21. Ouimet has said that he thinks KI's entrance is grandiose enough. Invertigo is more of a "coaster by the entrance" the an "entrance coaster". "Entrance coaster" generally refers to a coaster that interacts with the entrance like Gatekeeper. However things could change but I doubt they would mess with the entrance. I don't know how I would feel about an RMC giga there woodies tend to lose the pace toward the end. I think the T-rex coaster is a nice idea but I don't think that is how CF will start working with them. If it is RMC I think it is much more likely to be a custom design like Lightning Rod. Do you guys think these plans could be for a dark ride/coaster like Wonder Mountain guardian? I think the Crypt building is big enough for a small lift hill and some coaster elements inside. Every park is supposed to be getting one and that is right around where all the action is. I just don't want to over think this and possibly be disappointed with the result. Really looking forward to some more hints or talking points later in the year.
  22. First Welcome. Knotts is one of the biggest CF park in terms of attendance so we aren't the only ones without a giga. Really would love to see a Mack Blitz but it seems No one in the US is willing to give them a try for a big coaster they are expensive but provide great rides. Sadly I don't think we will be seeing a multi-launch unless B&M starts to make some. CF really doesn't work with either of the 2 big companies that make them anymore. Now I think we see a giga next or another try at the hyper woodie. The giga is the more likely of the options because CF hasn't really worked built a woodie in a while. B&M has been more reliable and has been delivering intense and re-ridable coasters then any other coaster company at least in the US. A giga like Fury would definitely compliment Diamondback and our other coasters while providing a new experience for local attendees who might not make the trip to CP. Now we might see RMC come in and help build a BIG woodie. I'm all for this idea as long as it keeps pace and is decent length. Something like Goliath is nice but it only lasts for a minute. If RMC designed a coaster taller then Goliath that also lasted about 2 minutes long I could see it being rated one of the best wooden coasters in the world.
  23. I think it needs to be said this is all just speculation. The only people who for sure know are Greg and Rob, but I bet Don knows. This is why I say KI is the best at teasing upcoming attractions. These 2 pictures have made us go crazy speculating what is to come. I can only imagine the uproar when they made the fake Bat website. Kings Island will give us something to talk about whether it be a coaster, dark ride, flat ride. I'm confident this team leads KI further into the top tier parks. Looking into possible next coasters I can see a decent sized woodie, a wing coaster or a giga coaster. I would love to see a multi launch but I'm afraid that will not happen anytime soon unless B&M makes one. It could possibly be a triotech darkride in the crypt building. I bet they would need some blueprints to help plan that construction. It could be based off The Beast or any of the other big name coasters like Banshee, maybe even Firehawk. There has also been a big gap since our last flat ride. Maybe its a Screaming Swing or something like Canadas Wonderland got this year. OR maybe something we haven't seen yet. I'm okay with ANY of these and would be excited about getting anything I mentioned.
  24. Ouimet has said that KI will not be receiving a "coaster entrance". He thinks that the entrance is grandiose enough with the tower and fountains. As for Timberwolf I can't think of anything being held there, that entire area is pretty movable imo. The land behind Banshee is big enough for a decent sized coaster, but I don't think its big enough for a B&M coaster. I wouldn't put a wing coaster in that area now that its all cleared out. I prefer the Thunderbird over Gatekeeper in the way you actually feel like the theme instead of just being to the sides of the track. With The Bat and Banshee being so close back there do you think they try to squeeze something underneath/ in between them?
  25. The contract was more you build us 3 coasters, I didn't say they couldn't work with them. Didn't Beast get retracked or touched up in 2014? The year after Goldstriker debuted. Another contract that supposedly ran out was B&M which was 3 coasters 3 years starting with Gatekeeper. Yet CP still just got Valravn even after the contract was up. More or less contracts are just "you will build us X many rides in Y amount of years". GCI has also been talked about in helping Mean Streak instead of RMC'ing it. I'm just saying I don't think CF will do a one off with any company(GCI,RMC,B&M).
