Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees

Coaster-net is actually a really nice show for coaster enthusiasts. I think they made a lot of excellent points and have a really solid prediction. -

^ This exactly. When was the last time CF just placed a ride without making the surrounding area better Banshee,Valravn,Fury style. I think we will see something new to the trains considering an update is pretty needed. -

If that's the case, it doesn't have to be RMC like a lot of people are speculating. Maybe GCI could be trying something new where the structure is made of steel, but the track is wood. I don't know If they could do that without getting in trouble with GG. Either way, I would be excited for this because I wouldn't have to travel across the country to ride an RMC. The only GCI that I have ridden would be Wildcat from Hershey Park. They already have with White Lightning down at FunSpot and are building Invadr at BGW the same way. This is where my current prediction is at until I see actual evidence against it. -

Coming from someone who has seen the prints, I'm gonna say that the actual structure is going to be entirely steel. My evidence is that if it was wood you would see a lot more lateral supports around turns, but you only really see them in a few places. The steel structure makes it much more compact meaning the track can be closer together, and less clearing making it cheaper. -

The steel structure can also be seen by GCI seen on Invadr and White Lightning. But yes this is what I imagine the support structure will look like. -
What the heck is Deja Vu?Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk Invertigo, it has a similar layout to a coaster named Deja Vu.

Gavpenn is not a credible source, until he gives evidence. While it could be an RMC I'm not convinced until there is hard proof, like an announcement from the park. -

If we go off the CF chart for future attractions, I would venture to guess that this would be the mid sized ride so maybe they are extending it for a bigger coaster. I just can't see CF not adding a large steel coaster this year. CF has also mentioned they plan to invest a lot into CGA a new B&M would definitely be in the mix. -

Rumour is that both might be RMC, this comes from seeing Rob Decker and other CF executives leaving a meeting with RMC at IAAPA. CP has really only gotten 2 new coasters considering Rougarou was just changing the trains. As for the GP I'm pretty sure most non enthusiasts aren't gonna know about the differences between the manufacturers. -

RMC is also prefabricated, but he is speaking with the assumption it will be an RMC. GCI takes time to build their coasters so it will take a little longer if it is made by then. -

Who's to say rocky Mountain declined to change some boards on that ghoster coaster @ knotts berry farm. I think more money would be in projects where you completely renovate a ride or build one from scratch? Because they DID put in a bid to iron horse GhostRider and CF went with GCI to keep it wood and because it had a good lay out already. BUT Ouimet has said that he is open to work with them, so nothing is to be eliminated yet. -

I read somewhere that RMC did put in a bid to redo GhostRider and CF went with GCI, which I think was the right choice. It is clear that RMC is able to work with CF, now it just comes down to when/if they are going to. -

A overhead view of a layout got leaked a few days ago, then someone posted a video with the other pages that apparently mentioned steel ties. At least that is what I think this whole thing about RMC is about. -

Choo chooAll the doubters owe gavpenn an apology. Coming from someone who never told him off, no source is considered credible without becoming trusted. He is a relatively new user and gave us no reason to trust him, it could have always been a guess and he got it correct. I also am not completely sold on a manufacturer until an announcement. -

So what you are saying is that we are gonna have GCI build the structure and have RMC iron horse it before opening.......GENIUS. -

I think it is GCI, but I have heard multiple people say that it isn't so I'm just getting even more hyped for the announcement. I am trusting CF with all of this, they have yet to truly add a bad coaster under Ouimet so I have no reason to doubt them. -

They may be hyping up a woodie so much because our last standing one was built in '79. -

I am firmly on team woodie, but IF this was a launch coaster then I would be rather dissapointed with the lay out. The amount of turns and inversions really are what make a good launch coasters like Maverick and Helix exciting, which this layout doesn't look to have. As for the manufacturer of this ride, I would be happy with any of the big 3 wooden manufacturers. They all offer a different ride style, all of which would offer something that Kings Island doesn't have yet. My money as of now is on GCI, but I can see the argument for other manufacturers. -

I was more talking about how it would be completely underground until it rises on the other side of DB, like Hades does out to an island in the parking lot. If that is how the coaster is oriented then I could very much so see it diving under the tracks. -

Rob Decker and other CF execs were seen leaving a meeting with RMC at IAAPA. Also while on the topic of tunnels, what I would love to see is a drop under the bridge that would come out to behind the Crypt building into a overbanked turn around a la Hades 360.....extremely unlikely but I think it would be cool. -

Looks like while it will be int eh woods it is not going to have the same seclusion as Beast does so I'd probably still go with it for the last ride. Project 2017 seems to be near the midway still and will be around WWC, the train and DB. So have a great setting but won't be the same as Beast still for that alone in the woods feeling. Depending on the orientation if it is aligned to shoot out toward the train shed it might still have that bit of seclusion, especially because the train stops running toward the last rides of the day. I will probably alternate between the 2 as the last ride of the day, with the occasional Banshee thrown in depending on the time remaining.
