I'm excited to see what they do. CP's Planet Snoopy, despite being thrown together from leftover GL rides, turned out very cute. I also hope FoC goes back to Beastie.

Last night I had am idea for a retheme of SDatHC into a Peanuts dark ride, going through all the holidays (1 scene Valentines, Independence Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas)... just an idea.

Haha I love the suggestion with the dark ride plus Snoopy World War Flying Ace! Good bye sponge bob, my girls are already excited. To be real with everyone, my girls and all their friends that have gone to ki don't really even pay much attenction to who is on the rides.

Thursday: Intimidator

Friday? : Planet Snooby CW

Tuesday: Planet Snooby KD

Wednesday: Carowinds new coaster

I think Kings Island will probably announce our Planet Snoopy this Friday, if we do get one. Than sometime next week Cedar Point will announce it's new attraction. And maybe attractions for Knott's CGA, DP, VF, WoF, MA?

Next Kings Island visit I'm going to spend alot of time in Nickelodeon Universe taking alot of photos and videos, just in case!

Maybe we won't get a Planet Snoopy. Why would they want two Planet Snoopys in Ohio? Maybe they'll retheme Nick U into a "Kidzville" generic kids area instead of going for the Snoopy retheme.

Because I'm sure that having 5 more parks on the bargaining table was a very good thing when negotiating with UFS for the Peanuts rights. We'll get a Planet Snoopy, I'm fairly certain of that.

I've been thinking of some of the changes, using rides at Planet Snoopy and Camp Snoopy as the base. I could easily see Plankton's Plunge turn into a Kite Eating Tree (thought that one at CP was especially cute), Nick Jr Drivers to Peanuts 500, Little Bill's Giggle Coaster to Woodstock Express, Adventura de Azul to Snoopy's Express Railroad, Timmy's Air Tours to Snoopy's Deep Sea Divers, Phantom Flyers to Snoopy's Space Race, Lazytown Sportacopters to Woodstock's Whirlybirds, BackYardigans Swing Along to Linus and Lucy's Swingset and Go Diego Go to Peanuts Road Rally.

I'm not sure about Runaway Reptar. I think that a Red Barron tie in would be great, but I'm not convinced they'll want to repaint the whole ride.

This really only leaves Avatar, the Bumper Cars, and a few others to be rethemed.

The Peanuts are so outdated. Most kids probably don't even know who they are, or care. If I were a child going to Kings Island, I would be way more excited to see Spongebob and his friends in Bikini Bottom, Dora, Lazytown, Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys and more! than going to see the peanuts. IMO this is a bad move Cedar Fair.

Kids still ran to the HB characters (and they were well out of date before Nick fully took over), and kids still line up to meet/hug Snoopy and friends up at Cedar Point. If CF had been able to secure a reasonable (in their mind) license agreement with Viacom to continue use of the Nick characters, I'm sure they would have. There have been several reports that Viacom wanted a king's ransom for the rights, and CF didn't see the ROI necessary to continue the relationship.

As for the characters being outdated, let's take a look at a little park down in Orlando. Have you ever seen Song of the South? I'd wager that only a handful of people on this site have seen it, but families still line up to meet with Br'er Bear and Br'er Rabbit in Frontierland, and wait for (sometimes) hours to ride their little log flume. Do kids know who the Aristocats are? Because a dedicated meet and greet for them is being set up at the France pavilion at Epcot.

Kids will tell you that they like Spongebob and Dora over Snoopy and Charlie Brown. But, when they walk through the gates, they will still run to Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus and Lucy when they see them.

I actualy argued over on CoasterBuzz that Snoopy and Company are a better fit for theme park use because their saturation is so low. With Nick, it's everywhere. There's nothing special about seeing Spongebob at Kings Island because you can see him on TV, at your local mall, in your Happy Meal box, and in every aisle of your local toy store. With the Peanuts, save for holiday specials, PEZ dispensers, and a few MetLife commercials, they are nearly exclusive characters to CF parks.

Much more kids recognize Nick characters than Peanuts characters. And I've said this on other threads, but HOW MANY POSSIBLE NAMES CAN THEY COME UP WITH? They have 18 rides for kids, and there's not enough Peanuts characters to name everything (at least for Kings Island). Of course, we don't know yet if there will be a Planet Snoopy at Kings Island.

An average 8 year old wouldnt be able to name 2 peanut charecters, most 5 year olds can name 30 nickoloneon charecters.

All the rides are great themed. I would hate to see all that great scenary from Thornberries and Reptar leave.

Oh, really?

Jackson, who wonders where you came up with that figure. Not to mention there are much more Nickelodeon characters then Peanuts, so that figure is biased already.....

I will say before I even start, that I like Nick U, and wish it could stay.

My only reason for that is the fact that I have a 5 year old. She loves SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, and Dora.

There are a few others that she watches too, but those are the main ones. The show that gets the most attention at our house though is iCarly. A house full of girls can be rough sometimes.

The reason for posting is about reading the comments of recognizing the different characters. Yes Those I mentioned are much easier to relate with, than is Snoopy. She knows Snoopy, and Charlie Brown, but throw a Pepermint Patty at her, and she would be clueless. It is worth mentioning though, that there is more to Nick U than those guys I mentioned.

Like I said, she is 5. She has no clue who the Wild Thornberries are, or if you can believe it, she has never seen the Rugrats.

She still loves the rides, but has no idea where the theming comes from.

I believe that the Nick U will be more exciting for the kids, but as long as the rides are fun, and the area is a "happy place" thats the most important thing.

I've already started thinking about ride ideas.

They could re-theme Avatar,(another one she doesn't know) with a PigPen ride. replace all the air currents with little puffs of dust.

They could even go generic on some rides. Maddie doesn't know the Rugrats, so she calls Runaway Reptar the dinosaur ride. they could just keep a rough dino theme, and remove the Rugrats Characters, and that one would be good to go. A generic theme would also work on the log flume.

Snoopy as the Red Baron would be great for the helicopter ride. Riders could sit inside the doghouse, while the Red Baron rides on top. Kids could get off of that, and swing into a pub for a rootbeer.

I don't think the area HAS to be Nick U, but it does HAVE to be fun.

Maybe CF can just consult the magic meatball on what they should do?

I wonder how many of the younger visitors recognize the older characters in the park. I'm pretty sure neither of those shows even air anymore.
