CoastersRZ
That is encouraging news for the park reopening. They still have a lot of work to do before the park greets any paying customers though.
Gordon Bombay
So it seems they're meeting on the 24th to negotiate the lease, NOT sign one?
CoastersRZ
I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting.
The Interpreter
Why would you think that? The Fair Board Chairman clearly indicates the due diligence isn't done yet. See today's CJ article.
CoastersRZ
I missed that part in the article. Even if they do sign a lease, they still have a lot of work to do in order to reopen the park.
fyrfyter
I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting. According to the Courier Journal article updated today, they are.
The Interpreter
I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting. According to the Courier Journal article updated today, they are. I see language indicating the Fair Board will consider a lease if the state concludes negotiations. I see nothing, as of this posting, saying anything is definitive that it will be on the agenda for the 24th. It may very well be. It may not be. sccard01
I think it's true. IMO there's nothing to negotiate with the FairBoard. They know what the KKRC wants, the same contract they had with the Koch family last summer. The Fairboard just needs to put that same contract on the table at the next meeting and let it be signed. The Interpreter
The Fair Board is not negotiating this matter. The State is.
The Interpreter
Which Lance Hart also does not understand: http://screamscape.com/html/kentucky_kingdom.htm The Governor directed the Finance Cabinet to negotiate this matter, which it is. All the Fair Board can do is accept or reject any deal reached.
westcoaster
I loved the park but I don't see Louisville getting another park, nor this one reopened, as much as I would like to see it happen, with Holiday World, the Park in Bowling Green and Coney and Kings Island to the north along with the Beach reopening. I feel that some of the blame is the fair board, as much as I would like to see this happen it may just not be right , also dealing with the fair board!.

Dieseltech20
Pay close attention to numbers 10 and 11. I wouldn't start holding my breath just yet. Oh well, if all works according to plan this year, my family will have plenty of parks to choose from come 2014.

The Interpreter
In essence, Hart & Co. now have 90 days to round up financing and to assure themselves the park is not in worse condition than they expected. The state has the same 90 days to approve the financing. Either party could walk out of this deal during that 90 day period.
