January 11, 201313 yr That is encouraging news for the park reopening. They still have a lot of work to do before the park greets any paying customers though.
January 11, 201313 yr I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting.
January 11, 201313 yr Why would you think that? The Fair Board Chairman clearly indicates the due diligence isn't done yet. See today's CJ article.
January 11, 201313 yr I missed that part in the article. Even if they do sign a lease, they still have a lot of work to do in order to reopen the park.
January 11, 201313 yr I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting. According to the Courier Journal article updated today, they are.
January 11, 201313 yr I took it as they were going to consider approving the lease at the January 24th meeting. According to the Courier Journal article updated today, they are. I see language indicating the Fair Board will consider a lease if the state concludes negotiations. I see nothing, as of this posting, saying anything is definitive that it will be on the agenda for the 24th. It may very well be. It may not be.
January 11, 201313 yr Author I think it's true. IMO there's nothing to negotiate with the FairBoard. They know what the KKRC wants, the same contract they had with the Koch family last summer. The Fairboard just needs to put that same contract on the table at the next meeting and let it be signed.
January 14, 201313 yr Which Lance Hart also does not understand: http://screamscape.com/html/kentucky_kingdom.htm The Governor directed the Finance Cabinet to negotiate this matter, which it is. All the Fair Board can do is accept or reject any deal reached.
January 14, 201313 yr I loved the park but I don't see Louisville getting another park, nor this one reopened, as much as I would like to see it happen, with Holiday World, the Park in Bowling Green and Coney and Kings Island to the north along with the Beach reopening. I feel that some of the blame is the fair board, as much as I would like to see this happen it may just not be right , also dealing with the fair board!.
January 22, 201313 yr Author More news. Things are looking more and more positive. http://www.courier-journal.com/comments/article/20130122/NEWS01/301220055/City-convention-bureau-offer-Kentucky-Kingdom-incentives http://www.wdrb.com/story/20649709/optimism-that-kentucky-kingdom-could-open-in-a-year-or-two http://www.whas11.com/news/local/Pricey-marketing-blitz--187954001.html

January 24, 201313 yr Author Governor wants fairboard to approve the lease tomorrow. There's now speculation Ed Hart already has the financing in place! http://www.wdrb.com/story/20661908/gov-beshear-endorses-proposed-deal-to-reopen-kentucky-kingdom
January 24, 201313 yr Author haven't they been to this point before? No. Ed Hart didn't have a lease nor funding last time.
January 24, 201313 yr not necessarily with Mr. Hart. Thinking of Holiday World and the Bluegrass Boardwalk.
January 24, 201313 yr No gurantee till the park opens. Will it be a full amusement park, lots of questions/
January 24, 201313 yr Summary of lease agreement: http://m.14news.com/autojuice?targetUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.14news.com%2fstory%2f20671315%2fsummary-of-kentucky-kingdom-lllp-lease-agreement
January 24, 201313 yr Pay close attention to numbers 10 and 11. I wouldn't start holding my breath just yet. Oh well, if all works according to plan this year, my family will have plenty of parks to choose from come 2014.
January 25, 201313 yr In essence, Hart & Co. now have 90 days to round up financing and to assure themselves the park is not in worse condition than they expected. The state has the same 90 days to approve the financing. Either party could walk out of this deal during that 90 day period.
