I hope that’s not the direction they go.  The water park is already large for what the park is.  Really all they are missing is a water coaster since Deluge left. Something I just now thought about as possible (speaking in fantasy of course), is the removal of Mt. Slide Hai.  It’s very old and removing that wouldn’t create any new gaps that haven’t already been filled by Plummet Summit and Wikiwiki Wai slide complexes.  Doing this (along with castaway creek) would also allow them to make a large continuous block from discovery meadow all the way back to where T3/Rapids were. I really don’t know what else they could add to all that land for the waterpark that it doesn’t already have, and they definitely aren’t going to out “water coaster” Holiday World, so not sure what the payoff would be.  I guess it depends if they want to push this into a Dollywood style park or just remain a local family attraction.  Time will tell! Exciting times!

I'm wanting the wave pool to be moved, not for the waterpark to be expanded. The current one would be demolished to make way for more dry rides. If they have the money I think it'd be a worthwhile investment. That'd make it so there's not a hole in the park whenever the waterpark is closed.

Yesterday while I was outside of the fence the site leader from RMC came out and gave us stickers and talked about the industry. That really made my day! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk

  • Back to the topic at hand... I got sneaky and took some pics while at the Fairgrounds this weekend... Enjoy!

  • Guys I received a large surprise from the Kingdom today. I learned I was being promoted to be in charge of the operation of the Thunder Zone. Apparently I have really impressed in the last few months

I think it would be less expensive to move the coaster and mini wind seeker than to demolish and rebuild a large wave pool with the ancillary food, retail and infrastructure involved.  I understand your rationale, however.

There is a new sign in front of the former 5D cinema area

I am really thinking about taking the kids to this park. The Bat at Kings Island has peaked my 5 year old interest this season but he cant just quite get there yet.  Im thinking the new coaster at Kentucky Kingdom might get him over that edge.

KK is adding more to their Fall pumpkin event and utilizing their empty lazy river to showcase 5000 artist hand carved pumpkins

^ that's been very controversial this week. The event is being moved from Iroquois Park to the lazy river. The organizer has had it at Iroquois Park for quite some time and funds benefited Louisville parks. Parking evidently was a nightmare and was cited as the reason for the move. The city park officials are organizing a replacement event.

The original organizer has two or three other events around the country.

People are saying that this is corporate greed and they will never come to kk again etc.

I'd imagine it's been quite a week for kk pr folks.

Yeah… I don’t think this played out the way Herschend had hoped. They definitely could’ve tempered things with a nice donation this year to the parks alliance or a special night or two even cheaper for Louisville residents. Unfortunately they did nothing, and now anything they do after all the drama is just going to look like groveling. Bad decisions this week HERSCHEND

I visited Iriquois Park once a few years ago when Weird Al was playing at the amphitheater there. I can imagine parking would be a pain for bigger events. I wonder whose decision it was to move it to Kentucky Kingdom though.

I just saw there a Reddit discussion about RMC posting stories about their new Wild Moose coaster and teasing its now wandering the Midwest now, some people guessing it’s for KK and someone thinking it could be for Kings Island to add to Camp Snoopy or Planet Snoopy. Kentucky Kingdom isn’t really in the Midwest, so would KI go back to add something new for their kids area so soon after 2024’s addition? It’d be hard to find room without taking something out, it’s not that big of coaster though. Here’s the Reddit link.
