September 12, 201312 yr That would cost people going to holiday world as well. The Sherman Minton bridge (which carries I-64) doesn't seem to be included in the tolling, for now at least. This is the bridge that most Holiday World traffic from/through Louisville would take.
September 13, 201312 yr From my understanding, the tolls are designed to help cover the costs of building those bridges, much like they're considering for the Brent Spence Bridge here in Cincy (for those not from the area, BSB carries traffic between Ohio and Kentucky on interstates 71 and 75) Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4
September 13, 201312 yr I use the Brent Spence Bridge and the Sherman Minton Bridge when going to and from HW. I hope neither of them end up with tolls.
September 13, 201312 yr But...the JFK Bridge is also to be tolled, from what I hear... That bridge is receiving refurbishment, so it will be included in the tolls project. There was talk of also tolling the Sherman Minton, so it wouldn't be used to bypass the tolls on the other bridges. That wasn't included in the final proposal, mainly because this bridge was paid for with federal funds. (Though my guess is that it's only a matter of time until they find a way to toll the Sherman Minton as well.) Tolls for non-frequent users will be $2/crossing with a transponder, $3/crossing with a toll-by-plate prepaid account, and $4/crossing if they have to mail an invoice. (It will be all-electronic tolling.
September 13, 201312 yr That would cost people going to holiday world as well. Not for the Indiana market!
September 13, 201312 yr I will just continue to drive through Brandenburg and cross the bridge there. Thereby avoiding The Ville and any possible Tolls.
September 13, 201312 yr I went to Great Adventure last weekend. The tolls were at least $50. Things are different in the Northeast. I remember The Kentucky Turnpike. It was about a mile long. The toll was 10 cents.
September 13, 201312 yr EZ Pass is accepeted in Indiana under their trade name "I-Pass". As for tolls on The Sherman Minton, don't count on it. While that bridge will not be tolled, it will no longer be the most direct way to get to many parts of Louisville and the surrounding KY area Ever since Indiana got $3.5 billion for leasing (not selling) their toll road for 75 yrs, other states are jumping on the bandwagon. Mind you, times were different in 2006 when the lease was entered into (and the economy better). It is no coincidence the lease calls for regular toll increases for the duration of the lease. At the time of the lease, the toll operator predicted profitability within 10 years. So far, they have taken a pretty big loss (but we're only in year 7 of 75, so plenty of time left).
September 14, 201312 yr I'd honestly like to see a few webcams in the park so that people can see the work being done and get a live view of it...
September 15, 201312 yr From my understanding, the tolls are designed to help cover the costs of building those bridges, much like they're considering for the Brent Spence Bridge here in Cincy (for those not from the area, BSB carries traffic between Ohio and Kentucky on interstates 71 and 75) Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 4 So I hadn't heard any of this yet. So is the bsb going to be tolled? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk 4

September 16, 201312 yr Kentucky Kingdom now has a YouTube Channel! Here's the new video. (Video Courtesy of New Kentucky Kingdom) Link to Channel. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UClW5B1dEyq8A1uEYDlKFLmw Excited to see the progress in the Water Park.
September 18, 201312 yr I really hope they improve T2. Trim the trees around the lift hill, repaint the track black again. Smooth the track. Get new trains made by B&M.

September 26, 201312 yr I'm admitably a bit of a lurker in this thread, but thought I'd share some news from today. Apparently Ed Hart allowed the media to tour the park for the first time since the initial press conference in June. He's "absolutely confident" of an on-time opening. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20130926/NEWS01/309260073/Kentucky-Kingdom-progress-display?nclick_check=1 http://www.wdrb.com/story/23540085/slideshow- http://www.wlky.com/news/local-news/louisville-news/fair-board-to-tour-kentucky-kingdom/-/9718340/22130010/-/12dmxoe/-/index.html http://www.bizjournals.com/louisville/blog/2013/09/take-a-look-behind-the-gates-of.html
September 26, 201312 yr Does it seem odd to anyone else that he seemed to over emphasize that fact that it will be open on time? A little curious to me!
September 26, 201312 yr I was hoping for more video/audio on the questions the media or fair board may have been posed to him. Haven't found any so far.
September 26, 201312 yr Does it seem odd to anyone else that he seemed to over emphasize that fact that it will be open on time? A little curious to me! Nope not odd, strategic His funding is likely contingent upon an on-time opening. He's pacifying the backers.
September 26, 201312 yr Place has been closed for years, he is just reiterating it will be open on time.
September 26, 201312 yr I agree with Shaggy. He's saying what he MUST say, true or not. Continued funding depends on it.
September 27, 201312 yr Ed Hart mentions in this video that Thunder Run has completed some test runs already.
September 27, 201312 yr Author Correct me if I am wrong... 2 new thrill rides, 1 new family ride, 1 new coaster, 3 new kids rides and 10 new water attractions...
