While watching the WS cam, I have not seen Vortex or Racer testing for start of season. Not saying it has not happened, but when do they fire up the rides and start testing them? With 25 days left I would assume this has begun? How much testing do they go through? 10, 20, 30 successful cycles before they give it the all good?

Last year we went a week before opening day to process our passes and they were testing the rides, but I don't know when they started.

When I went to visit the park, the Kings Island Representative that was giving me the construction tour said my the end of this week.

I have ride training on the 16th as well. Aren't the webcam pictures taken every 15 minutes? If so, it would be kind of rare to see the train at that given time

The webcams refresh every minute, not every thirty seconds.

And the number of cycles required during testing varies according to the rides' manufacturers, state requirements, insurance company requirements, etc. Often, such information is considered proprietary (polite speech for none of your business unless you have a need to know)...

It would not surprise me if ride testing coincides with ride training- it would seem the most cost effective way to do it.

But, I have never worked at a park before, so I could just be talking out my butt!

I`m actually a little concerned about using my KI Platinum pass, because they had problems with it when I renewed it back in September.

Kings Dominion made it all good. I could not have asked for a better resolution. In fact, I asked for nothing at all!

That is good! But you did have problems with your pass scanning? I wonder what their technical issues are? (Gee, as if I don`t solve enough IT issues with my expanded work duties, lol).

I know I was not the only person with a KI Platinum Pass that did not present properly at the gate. KD worked valiantly to correct this issue, and they did.

Well, as long as they made their customers happy, that is the important issue!

The employees involved in resolving this at KD were professional, polite, caring and dedicated to customer satisfaction. I was indeed very happy.

^As someone who has a long history with Admissions (although at KI not KD), I say that's very good to hear! I'm glad it worked out much better for you than the Carowinds Debacle of 2010.

I've got a ton of good things to say about the employees at KD too. We did online renew of 4 KI platinum passes. Entered the gate with our printout and had no difficulty at processing.

The plan is for a Carowinds Platinum next year. Variety is the spice of life!

So you still need to go through processing again if you renewed online?

Theoretically, no. Then again, I had renewed online...and the Platinum Pass was not honored...but KD graciously and expeditiously resolved the problem.

When Kings Island's season pass processing starts,I'm going to go there one evening to have my Kings Dominion pass scanned to see if it works at KI.Hopefully there won't be any issues with it,but one can't be too sure.

I'll be sure to print off proof from Paypal before I go the first time so they can't claim that I didn't renew if I do run into problems. I just have a gold pass so hopefully I won't have any trouble.

i just had to say this: lets see if we see SOB testing this year. They havnt said if closed for season yet and i hope not.
