Snowman
From KI's website: "Thank you for another great season! Kings Island is now closed until spring 2012. Our 2012 operating calendar will be available soon!" I don't know about the rest of you, but Snowwoman and I make it through the harsh Ohio Valley winter by counting down until opening day, but it's kind of hard because we don't know when KI is opening. So far "soon" has meant 2 months and counting. Without Dinosaur footprint teases in the snow, a WindSeeker construction webcam, or DB/Beast ERT drama, shouldn't we at least get an opening date bone thrown at us? That, or pan a webcam and let us watch ya'll dig a hole!
IndyGuy4KI
I am not sure if it was mentioned previously or not, but at the GOCC party it seemed the calendar would not be published until a few updates were made to the website. After looking quickly at a few other parks they do not have their calendar up yet either. Good things take time and patience! The Interpreter
Perhaps this is another thing that may change since first we met. Time. . . and of course those in PR will tell the story as it is to be told. Nostalgia, my friends. Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. We'd sing and dance, forever and a day....

The Interpreter
I saw it but I had patience! Terp, trying to be nice, even to the departing nickel gatherer.
jdawg1998
It will be sometime in January I heard, but I just wish they would give us an idea, and "soon" is not up to 3 months.
The Interpreter
At Kings Island, it's sometimes so much FUN, time seems to stand still! Anticipation...it's making me wait!
Beast Man
We were told at the GOCC party that the schedule for 2012 will likely be similar to 2011.Opening day will be at the end of April and daily operations will start in May.
The Interpreter
And even after publication, operating days are subject to change. Especially for 2012.
CoastersRZ
Especially with a new CEO at the helm. I still find it odd that they want opening day so far back. If they could develop an early season festival, or push Music in the parks into April, I would think that they could pack people in during those first weekends, and in turn make lots of money. After all, a closed park is not making any money.
kingsrattler
So Terp, where exactly is this Kings Islamd place you speak of?
The Interpreter
So Terp, where exactly is this Kings Islamd place you speak of? Fixed. Thanks. Some thoughts: -Why does AutoCorrect catch some things, miss others, and massacre still others? -It's still MUCH easier typing on an iPhone than a Blackberry wireless device. -Kings Island is too far from Atlanta, comparatively. So is Busch Gardens Tampa, but I digress. And Jacksonville ain't a whole lot more convenient than the nation's busiest airport. Terpy, musing aloud.... jdawg1998
After all, a closed park is not making any money. But an open park loses money too.
The Interpreter
Not necessarily. An open park may generate more revenue than costs. Even a closed park has costs, and may generate some revenue when, for one example, the parking lot is rented to, say, a car manufacturer or dealer. standbyme
So Terp, where exactly is this Kings Islamd place you speak of? As a joke I Google'd Kings Islamd...it seems to be a common error. Someone even registered the domain once!

TombRaiderFTW
I'm confused... Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure the park, at least for the past 3 or so seasons, has posted on the website around this time of year that the schedule will be available "soon". "Soon" has usually meant some time after the first of the year. Am I wrong?
The Interpreter
Nope. Pretty typical, actually. Time...passes!
mccarthysnerd
We will all just have to wait because it will probably on the website sometime next month.
jlopez
On Dec 16th I tweeted Kings Island saying i was excited and couldnt wait until the park opened, and they tweeted me back saying "just a little over 4 months" .

TombRaiderFTW
^ Actually, it's just Saturday and Sunday in April. Pre-2011 tradition would make this year's opening on April 14, the Saturday after Easter, but the park's said it will open later, like this year. I'm looking for them to open on April 28. jlopez
21st or 28th is my guess
Burgtoad67
The park just posted this on twitter: "31 + 29 + 31 + 28 = ?" So if you guessed the 28th, you are correct.
The Interpreter
And if past is prologue, don't plan on going the 29th. In the past, that's been a park buy-out day. But stay tuned....
CoasterGeek101
I think is should be the 1st week of April.
jdawg1998
I like it being in late April, early April has usually gross rainy weather and is abnormally cold.
