jcgoble3 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 http://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/soak-city-waterpark What do you think of the names? Good, bad, meh? I'm just happy they didn't go with "Tube Slide", "Body Slide", and the like. 1 Quote
coaster_junky Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 wow, i really like the names! except for zoom flume, the rest had kind of a tropical theme to them, and then that one... 2 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I think they are pretty good! Thanks for noticing and pointing them out to us! Quote
Outdoor Man Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 ... and the new entrance is aptly named "New Entrance." Quote
RD Reynolds Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 ... and the new entrance is aptly named "New Entrance." Is there a "New Exit" as well? I picture that on the other side of "New Entrance" for some reason...but I could be wrong on that. Quote
RingMaster Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Wow these names are great! My personal favorites are Mondo Monsoon, Aruba Tuba, and Breakers Bay. Quote
markr Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Whether you call it Mondo Monsoon or Tasmanian Typhoon, to me it will always be the giant toilet bowl. 4 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Not crazy about "Zoom Flume". I think "Snowy River Rampage" was better. 2 Quote
Browntggrr Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Tube Slide??? I can't stop laughing....... Quote
jcgoble3 Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 Not crazy about "Zoom Flume". I think "Snowy River Rampage" was better. Agreed. I started to say that they didn't have to change that one, but then I realized that Snowy River is a major river in Australia. Quote
HTCO Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Overall, these ride names are really great! Good job KI! Quote
CoasterGeek101 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I like the names. I think in 2013 or 2014 more slides will be added. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Whenever I think of Zoom Flume, I think of the now defunct water slide that used to reside at Coney Island. It was replaced by the Twister in 2009. The Zoom Flume opened at Coney in 1977. They are also all about the alliteration too! Rendezvous Run, Tropical Twister, etc. Quote
jdawg1998 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I'm really confused...can someone tell me all the names now and what they were with Boomerang Bay? Castaway Cove and Lookout Lagoon seem like the same thing... Quote
upstop Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Wow. Looks like they pulled out the alliteration and rhyming dictionary for this task..... Quote
LordSkippy Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 About Zoom Flume...I recall previous name wasn't very consistant. I destinctively remember the map referring to it as Snowy River Rampage, while the pre-ride audio referred to it as White Water Rampage. Quote
TTD-120-420 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I will still call them "that slide over there." 2 Quote
pyrocoasterkid Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I think "Dragster H2O" takes the cake for all time worst name. How in the world was that chosen by CP as a "top 3" and then how did it win in a landslide by a public vote?! Quote
kingsrattler Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Because up north, Dragster rings a bell of speed and racing. Quote
BB1 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Im glad they kept Pipepline Paridise, but i will still call them by Boomerang Bay names Quote
emileeee Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Aruba Tuba wins for me. Will they have new voiceovers in Australian accents for all the slides too? Haven't been to the waterpark in years, but that part stood out to me. Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Aruba Tuba...hahaha Oh that is a good one, and makes me kind of happy when I say it... Quote

jcgoble3 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 2. Castaway Cove- Koala Splash [...] 15. Aruba Tuba- may be a new attraction for 2012 , unconclusive A little digging on the Internet Archive revealed that Castaway Cove is actually Wallaby Wharf, and Aruba Tuba is Koala Splash. Quote
jcgoble3 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Then what is Lookout Lagoon? The old Kangaroo Lagoon, I believe. Quote
westcoaster Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 The names are good, just am still not liking Soak City name. But the waterpark is getting bigger, Do you think KI will ever get a true water coaster with all of this hoopla? Quote

But the waterpark is getting bigger, Do you think KI will ever get a true water coaster with all of this hoopla? I think somewhere down the road such as the next 2-3 years they might decide to get a water coaster and hopefully with a storyline behind it... (which Cedar Fair has proven to not be very good at) They can call their new water coaster, Tears Of The Beast Quote
