Timbo1 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Why was Zodiac taken out, I remember being a kid and wanting to ride it and no one else would. Still looks like an exciting ride that would carry lots of people and give a great view of park. Thanks Quote
jandyb79 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Here is a scan of my KI promo brochure that was handed out during Coney Islands closing season of 71. I always get a kick out of the early logo design 16 Quote
PhantomTheater Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Rivertown was originally advertised as Frontiertown, how interesting. I wonder if the Amazement park had a few words about the name, as theirs had opened four years prior. Quote
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Just to add a little something, though not much, here's a picture of me and my big brother at Kings Island when we were little. I think I'm about 3 years old here (maybe 4, I'm on the left). We later discovered that my brother was deathly afraid of heights which explains the concerned look on his face. I, on the other hand, was ready to fly. 17 Quote
KIfan73 Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 One of my favorite things at Kings Island. Love that area of the park! Quote
Hammbone Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Whoever p***ed dude off needs booted. Its a shame we dont get to see all the great pictures that we would have. 1 Quote
stashua123 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Sorry for bumping but this topic hasn't been continued and i really want it too. It helps me and other KICers get through the off-season. Quote
Creed Bratton Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^^ Sorry, but a failed attempt to have the OP return to this and I don't believe they will continue this anytime soon! Quote
stashua123 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Nice Pic! Cant believe Woodstock Express Was yellow at one time Quote
The Interpreter Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 It wasn't. It was Scooby Doo! And it hadn't been reprofiled any, either. 2 Quote
KIfan73 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Great pic! My first ride ever at KI. I've never seen that view of it before. 2 Quote
Aaron88stang Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 It wasn't. It was Scooby Doo! And it hadn't been reprofiled any, either. what part did they reprofile? Quote
TheCrypt Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Unless I am mistaken, like The Racer, Scooby Doo! had an extra dip just before the brake run that was later removed. 1 Quote
jandyb79 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 It had a tunnel, I believe. I don't think the tunnel was added until it was rebranded as The Beastie. I always thought the tunnel was a nice touch and, like The Beast, it felt like it was going to cut your head off upon entering 1 Quote
Oldiesmann Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 The tunnel was indeed added when the ride was renamed Beastie. Quote
thatbandguy8807 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I do have to say that I love topics like this. it is sad that it didn't work as well this year as it has in the past...but at least opening day is very soon now 1 Quote
BB1 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 By far, out of all of the eras that have been around for that coaster, The Beastie era was one of the greatest personally, the tunnel just made me want to ride again, and again until I couldn't anymore, but sadly that era has long been gone from us, and I am personally wanting a return. BB1 who doesn't always like the color blue on coasters. Ironically if you think about it, in a way, The Beast has only one son now. 2 Quote
Titan Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Kind of odd though that the son was born before the father... Quote
SonofBaconator Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Who said it was a son? I could be Beast's little brother or a distant relative... Quote
The Interpreter Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That would be fairly odd, especially since the coaster started life as a canine. 7 Quote
rotag Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 ayeyiyi. im gonna fly outa here on the wings of a stock of wood. express/rush delivery... Quote
lopan Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 That would be fairly odd, especially since the coaster started life as a canine. fairly odd? nice pun i bet you didnt even relize you did it :-) Quote

markr Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I'll post on his behalf... w The one ride that I got sick on during my many years of KI attendance-I mean Winnie Witch's Cauldrens not The Scooby Doo Coaster. . P.S how is everyone doing? I've been kind of hibernating the past few months. 4 Quote
