Intimidator 305 Closed: Cable Lift Problems

Recommended Posts

With most, the load ops who are required to press a button do so in tandem with the driver. If the buttons are not pushed simultaniously, the ride will not start.

Kind of like NORAD...lol...is this also the e-stop I often hear about....release the button and the ride stops or is that something else.

Something else.

EStop is a red button that, if pressed, stops the cycle/motors completely. When a ride is e-stopped, it must have it's systems completely re-set by maintenance before it can be re-started.

If a coaster is e-stopped, the lift motors stop and brakes engage.

If a cycle ride is e-stopped, the motors shut off completely typically locking a gondola in place or allowing it to settle back to a resting point.

If a water-rapids attraction is e-stopped, the pumps shut off and the water drains to the lowest part of the course while boats settle to the bottom of the water trough.

Thank you! Something new to learn everyday!!! Wow...that is a lot of responsibility for a young person to have in addition to restraining passengers and storing carry-on stuff.

That is what is great about america. We all have our opinions.

Personally I can only do 3 laps at most on Diamondback(last two visits) and have to get off cause I am bored.

The above pic I can look at more than 3x in a day without getting bored

What I meant about the bulkiness of the trains/track is that it has limitaitions to what it can do. I don't think the current track/trains are capable of a maverick type layout.

But DB could be running if the park was open! :P

Now, I will agree with you that Intamin has the coolest looking track. I have always loved how their track takes different shapes depending on the angle you are looking at it.

besides the coolest looking track, but I really don't think b&m's current trains/track is capable of such extreme angles and quick transitions without tearing their track/trains apart.

Since we have not seen a Maverick type ride from B&M before you might be right? Makes you wonder..

Oh they can bend it into any shape they want

Lols

With or without the same reliability they have now?? If they know they are not going to be as reliable then I bet they don't even want to go down that road!

I've always wondered if they could make a mini version of their track and sit riders in rows of two to achieve tighter transitions and elements.

I realize some BM coasters such as Diamondback sit two to a row but those rows take up a ton of space.

Here's the thing they could do it if they wanted, however when B&M design rides, what are their desires out of the ride. Look at any of their interviews....Mr Bolliger always usually goes into detail explaining how they removed vibration, or made the ride smooth, or reliable here, ect. Those are their main points and focuses on coasters, I always keep hearing things about vibrations and how smooth the coaster is at speed (especially interviews for Levi). Going outside their comfort zone, I'm sure they could do this, the box section track can handle dive loops, twists, ect, all they have to do is intensify the angle, curves, ect, and the box track follows it. Good examples of this are inline twists and inverted loops on say Raptor, you can see how the box section track follows the rails. They can do it, but will they choose to on future ride designs, I doubt it, because that's now their business approach for building coasters.

Open a theme park with only Intamin and Huss rides, and call it Tumbleweed, because thats all that would be moving at that park.

Hey. Some huss rides are very reliable, just not the giant ones. Rainbow that used to be at Kentucky kingdom seemed to be open all the time as well as the ship and enterprise. Even look at Kings Island, we have a troika that seems to have a heart of steel. Breakdance is a very fun an generally reliable ride. But I guess all this was before they were bought out...
