thedevariouseffect Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Again, what is this snapping business??? Quote
kblanken Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Snapping - Controlling your speed enough to allow slack on the cables, and the subsequent noise that accompanies the 'bounce' you get when cables above the scooter snap back to tautness. Not caused by rapid flailing of the sail, which is what some parks seem to be annoyed with moreso than actual snapping. Example: Quote
Oldiesmann Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Here's a better example. Watch the guy in the black shirt (pretty easy to see here though): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fn2Xm3YnIA And, for nostalgia, here's a video of the Flying Eagles at KI on the last day it operated. Sadly it's not great quality, but it still gives you a good idea of how you can snap them: Perhaps the best snapping video I could find - this is what happens when a bunch of enthusiasts ride. This is the ride that was at KI in its current form: 3 Quote
thedevariouseffect Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 That snapping must not be that violent/intense or my speakers must suck... Too bad I won't be able to ride it next year...poo 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Your speakers suck. Snapping Terple 3 Quote
PhantomTheater Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 By the way, I won't answer any questions about "snapping" at this time. (You know who you are.) https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/Questions-Questions The answer will wait. 3 Quote
PhantomTheater Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Some questions answered about 2014. https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog-article/online-fun/The-Answer-Key This is my favorite non answer. Steve Z. asks, "I was wondering if you guys were going to count Pipe Scream as a coaster. since of course the name of the ride is a Disk'o Coaster."Ahh yes - the question of the ages. What do you guys think? 3 Quote
Ride On_17 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I swear my heart stopped beating when I started to read Tony's answer to this one. Then I read on and felt relieved haha. Trent C. asks, "Will the black top be replaced?"We're actually going to keep it. The radiating heat actually increases tan time by 50%! We're not keeping it. 4 Quote
PyroKinesis Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I have always wondered why that was installed in the first place. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 And he should have said decreases... 1 Quote
DJSkyFoxx Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I think its great CP is getting a couple of new flats and adding some character to an area of the park I always felt was a little disorganized unlike the rest of the park. Especially the random spot where the Frog Hopper is. It just seems out of place there. It gives me a good feeling when I see some smaller family flats being placed in such a big "thrill" park as CP. Gives me hope that someday maybe we shall see some more family oriented flats come to KI, because I know we all agree KI is desperately in need of some more flats. Not that Banshee isn't a much needed coaster for the park, but some day I'd love to see some more smaller rides put up to give that special quality a well rounded park has. 4 Quote
fanofFirehawk Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Skip to 2:18 I'm interested what that means... Quote
Creed Bratton Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 That's a typical marketing spin. That's all they're going to let us tell you because we need to keep the video under 3 minutes. That's all they're going to let us tell you because we don't have the full details like what that building with the patio may be. 2 Quote
PyroKinesis Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 A little off-topic, but what day is it during Halloweekends that all the rides are open? Saturday, right? Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Cedar Point has some INTAMINS, so... 4 Quote
PhantomTheater Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Saturday and Sunday have full ride operations, weather pending. 1 Quote
YoungStud Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Cedar Point has some INTAMINS, so... So you have a intamin blitz, 200' wicked twister, 300' millennium force and over 400' top thrill dragster. Those four coasters alone is worth the trip. 2 Quote

PyroKinesis Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 What doesn't run on Friday? Friday it looks like just the coasters run. Just wanted to make sure mostly everything was open on Saturdays before I planned a trip and we get there and it's only coasters. Quote
Creed Bratton Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I must have missed your original comment Pyro, but I think you're referring to Halloweekends. Most if not all of the scarezones and haunts will be running on Friday nights. See here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/haunt/rides-attractions Quote
PhantomTheater Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 On Friday all zones, houses, boo hill and adult shows are available. thedevariouseffect Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Rides closed Fri: Coskcrew/Super Monster/Witches Wheel I believe GCA was closed Antiques/Wave Swinger There may be more but I know those were closed my year Quote
Maverick00 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 ^^That's pretty much all that is open. Some areas, such as the Gemini midway, are a complete ghost town on Fridays. Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Ghost town. During Halloweekends Fridays. Seems appropriate. 3 Quote
