Presumably, this is the WindSeeker from Knott's.

SteelHawk? Wow, I would have loved to have been in that meeting when potential names were thrown out there! Maybe the Golden Tickets will create a new category for "Most Generic Ride Name - New Ride Division".

To Cedar Fair's credit their newest additions have been given solid names, but wow, this one instantly made me LOL. Good times!

It seems our WindSeeker has been the most reliable. Great ride when the wind is not blowing to hard!

Considering the reason for this relocation, they probably wanted to go low-key on the name. And after all the bad publicity surrounding WindSeeker evacuations, they certainly didn't want to introduce it as "WindSeeker".

This way, it can be recognized by the public as just another new ride. Hopefully, one that will operate reliably and will complete any evacuations in a timely manner. (Whatever it's called, it offers a rather enjoyable ride - when it's actually operating.)

They have never re-opened theirs. The rumor is that the State of California will not allow them to do so.

Well, that sounds like an extremly dumb rule..

I hear that they are not satisfied with the evacuation procedure. I believe I read that on Screamscape so take that with a grain of salt, but it sounds plausible to me.

California is notoriously strict about amusement park operations and safety in their state. WindSeeker's odd contraption for unloading guests in emergencies is, to say the least, sketchy looking to the average park visitor, so I imagine California's OSHA and other oversight departments looked into it and apparently found unfavorably. That's why people are assuming that Knotts' will be transported to Missouri. The rides got lukewarm reception anyway, and now that California's has a notorious past to the average park visitor, it's not likely to drive ticket sales while in Missouri it can be resold to the public.

The name change makes sense - for locals, imagine their surprise if they were to Google "WindSeeker" and found news reports galore about breakdowns, people being stranded, months of closures, and the weird evacuation device. Renaming the ride at least delays that sort of mass discovery.

The ride will, by the way, be located very close to the park's existing Thunderhawk, which begs the question "Has Cedar Fair still not hired anyone to help with naming new rides?" and also "Do they know that there are raptors out there besides hawks?" Thunder, fire, steel, and night, now...

I feel sick saying it, but wouldn't Flight Deck be a more appropriate name here? The colors even match!

Does anyone else find it strange that WindSeekers look way more reliable than SkyScreamers, yet WindSeekers break down more often?

I been on both a skyscreamer and WindSeeker. Skyscreamer gives the better ride.

It hasn't been confirmed that Knott's is losing their WindSeeker that I'm aware of...just speculation.

Agreed. It would be miserable enough if "Flight Deck" was truly the best they could come up with. It's downright puzzlingly awful that they also came up with Afterburn (still not great, but much better) and then only gave it to one of the rides... I mean... Why?

So using the band name generator I got a couple very fitting names...

Well, a news station has reported that it had an incident in the past. Time for the popcorn. I can't wait to hear how many people died on it.

Yep....they would have to make up for their losses with the ride SBNO. Seems like a logical thing to do.

Knotts has confirmed that their WindSeeker is in fact heading to Missouri to become SteelHawk in 2014....
