March 4, 201412 yr The Paidia Company of Louisiana is planning to open "Jazzland Theme Park" on the site of the former Six Flags New Orleans park. The company delivered their proposal to the city on February 28th and they are expecting a response near the end of March..... Due to the fact that this is just a brief summary of the plans, more details can be found at the links below. March 5, 201412 yr The rides have been sitting with little to no maintenance since 2005, Kentucky Kingdom has a brighter future than SFNO.
March 5, 201412 yr The rides have been sitting with zero maintenance since 05. They spent some time sitting in a Salt water hot tub after being battered by a Hurricane as well. Would seem that anything short of ride replacement would be a daunting task. Isn't this about the third time that plans for a rebuild have been talked about? The original Jazzland wasn't exactly a big hit. Something about a crappy location.
March 6, 201412 yr Just turn them all into family water rides...with a family dryer of course. *sadly sounding rim shot*
March 14, 20224 yr Not sure if I should just open a new topic but hey let’s resurrect a dead thread. On Amazon a documentary called “Closed for the Storm” is a history of Jazzland/Six Flags.
March 14, 20224 yr It was a good documentary, watched it last week. Seemed like a park that was doomed to fail sooner rather than later....Katrina just lead it is early demise. I do wonder if it could have been placed in the hands of a smaller family like group similar to Holiday World if it could have survived? Doc made it seem like 6 flags was ready to ditch it almost as soon as they acquired it., then the storm gave them a reason to collect on insurance and be done with the place.

March 16, 20224 yr Double post I ended up watching this last night. A very informative, yet depressing documentary. Not only about the park, but seeing the devastation of the hurricane on the city. I would highly recommend seeing it.
March 16, 20224 yr Would be great to see more park documentaries done in a similar style as Closed for Storm.
March 16, 20224 yr Keep in mind that Coney Island, OH is still open. Just as a pool with a couple of water slides. Sadly, the amusement park portion has now been gone for three seasons! Hard to believe 2019 was the last season for the rides!
