ethancoaster
Maybe extra time to pick a new name..... I know that's just speculation but it would kinda make sense.
jcgoble3
Maybe extra time to pick a new name..... I know that's just speculation but it would kinda make sense. That could very well be the underlying reason. Not just coming up with a new name, but designing a whole new logo and theme, and then producing new shirts and other merchandise to be sold on announcement day/night (if they were planning on that). That type of thing doesn't happen overnight. Depending on the new theme (if this theory is correct), they might even need to arrange for the track to be (re)painted in new colors. Also, if this is true, the Cedar Point just can't win with names of mythical creatures associated with death. At least Banshee got reused. Hopefully Valravn will still see the light of day in some form.
The Interpreter
Or maybe Lori Koch wasn't amused with Val-Raven. Oopsie.
WindingSon
The new name will be Valegend then.

PyroKinesis
I bet Donald Trump not only would have continued with the announcement, but he would have announced it at the conference with the coroner.
NoChickens
Or, maybe, just maybe they meant. "Due to yesterday's incident, we are respectfully postponing our 2016 announcement event. Thank you for your patience and understanding." SMH, sometimes a show of respect, could be just that. A tragedy occured, we'll wait for our announcement, out of respect . If you're going to put that much into it, there are people that will say they asked for it by naming Banshee. Same chain of thought.
Nick_Plummer
I agree with NoChickens here. They're probably just postponing it out of respect. This is the first death the park has had in a while and it's fitting that Cedar Point give a moment of silence if you will. This might just be Cedar Point trying to please the family of the victim as well. The funeral could be held on the 18th which would not look good to the GP. I can see it now, "Cedar Point announces new ride on the date of the funeral of a man killed by the Raptor roller coaster."

Nick_Plummer
...in a while? I believe it's the first Cedar Point death EVER. I was under the assumption that there had been a couple in the earliest operations of the park. I was mistaken.
jcgoble3
Okay. Changing the subject. GOCC has posted on Facebook that the coaster timeline signs have come down and the fence has been reconfigured. Here's one of the pics they posted:
Nick_Plummer
This incident has really put a damper on what could have been a really cool announcement.
TheBEASTunchained
Apparently the area near Breakers Express (EDIT) that was fenced-in to store and prep Maverick track before it was announced and during construction, has been fenced in once again, according to CPRundown on Facebook : "Could they be getting ready to receive track?" jcgoble3
To clarify, according to comments on the original post, this is next to Breakers Express, which is on the mainland, not Hotel Breakers, which is on the peninsula.
malem
I would assume that deliveries were scheduled to begin soon after the original announcement date. There's a lot to transport with a large roller coaster.
PyroKinesis
Hopefully they cover the track with blue tarp again. And then "forget" to nail down one side so when the wind hits it just right you see track.
malem
The "Cedar Point VR" app is now counting down to December 25, 2015. That's almost certainly a placeholder date, but we could be waiting awhile for the official announcement.
PhantomTheater
https://www.cedarpoint.com/ticket-category/Season-Passes Season passes went on sale today despite the delay in announcement. An item of note, only A CP only all day dining plan is currently available for next season.

kblanken
I'm looking at the CP site, and see a full season dining option. Seventy-five dollars more than their Platinum Pass.https://www.cedarpoint.com/ticket-category/Season-Passes#2016DiningSP(edit to add- I think I read the price differences wrong. 75 is for something different)
Pagoda Gift Shop
$126 Cedar Point $213 Cedar Point + Dining Plan (+$87) $189 Platinum $288 Platinum + Dining Plan (+$99) Edit: Renewed passes are $9 cheaper (except for juniors).
PKIVortex
Dining plans on Platinum Passes are still good at all Cedar Fair parks in 2016. They do sell a Cedar Point only dining plan for regular passes. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
