King Ding Dong Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Reminds me of Stan Checketts of S&S standing on Power Tower without a harness before it was turned over to CP, or so the story goes. Allegedly fined by OSHA for the stunt. 6 2
Hawaiian Coasters 325 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I posted in the random discussion thread about a couple that illegally climbed the world's tallest crane. 2
collin.klopfstein Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Nice view on the orion webcam this morning 7
sixohdieselrage Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Just imagine, days like this after the ride is built, seeing the track peeking through the fog. 10

Imagine going up the hill, getting above the fog and launching back down into it. That will be awesome! There have been times on DB during haunt when fog has covered the bottom of the first hill, it ads a whole new experience for the ride. 4
King Ding Dong Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Such a great opportunity to punk everyone with a dummy webcam feed as the fog lifts. “It’s gone and replaced with a Larson Looper!” 1 3

And that scenario will likely be a lot more common on Orion, due to the bottom of the first drop being lower to the ground than Diamondback’s, and Orion is quite a bit closer to the river. And then you have the little stream too, that will add moisture to the air. 4

Beast Night Rider Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Now that is some heavy fog! I wonder if they can even work in that? Pretty cool but I hope it burns off soon so we can see. 3

Beast Night Rider Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Fog is finally starting to clear out. Let’s hope we see some good action today! 3
Maverick44 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Good morning all! I hope for an exciting day on the cam! 3
CedarIslander Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Looks like something is about to happen here!! Not sure what exactly, though... 2
medford Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 There's something happen' here, what it is, ain't exactly clear. There's a man with a crane over there, saying watch, you better beware..... 2 2
LovinMeSomeBanshee Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Well, the piece that was laying on its side here is now missing. It's the piece of the drop in which the track separates from the backbone. I'm guessing they're building that section of the drop now (backbone and separation from it into the bottom of the drop) 5
fyrfyter Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Well, the piece that was laying on its side here is now missing. It's the piece of the drop in which the track separates from the backbone. I'm guessing they're building that section of the drop now (backbone and separation from it into the bottom of the drop) That would make sense. If they built several of those pieces together and then tied them into the valley they have installed, it would be vertical, but also have the linear strength of the other pieces of track. Help hold the backbone while they build the drop. 1
LovinMeSomeBanshee Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 The part in red is what I'm guessing is being constructed now on the ground. The part in green is the bottom of the drop that's already completed. 4
fyrfyter Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I agree. I suspect your part in red is in 2 pieces though. It would be darn tough to move it as 1 continuous piece that has to line up correctly in 2 different places on 2 different planes. 3

They'll probably put the backbone up first, and then connect the piece in-between the backbone and the completed bottom of the drop section. 1
sixohdieselrage Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Looks like the piece of the backbone that attached to the "footing/footer" is in place. Could be just an illusion though. 4

fyrfyter Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 The question that just came to mind is how many of those can they safely set, without the legs up? This may be one of those days where we see 2 cranes in operation at once. One to hold the legs after they are in place and then set the remaining pieces of the backbone in. 3
Maverick44 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 That is a great find!!! Already starting today on a good foot!
Hawaiian Coasters 325 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I this was is the backbone footer 4
TheFloppyDisc Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Just now, Hawaiian Coasters 325 said: I this was is the backbone footer Yeah I agree that this is the backbone footer. Also, the back bone is pretty tall so it would probably stick out more if it was already in place. 3

I don't know what that is, but I don't think that's the backbone installed. The backbone goes here, in the long rectangular-shaped footer, and it's the only one in that area shaped like this. You can see it clearly in the webcam. 2
fyrfyter Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I this was is the backbone footer That could be correct as well. The picture shows that the backbone slants slightly as to its overall height.
LovinMeSomeBanshee Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Guys, I don't think that's the backbone installed. I think that's the shadow from the crane's boom, 1 3
