Memorial Day Weekend and no Coney Island opening 2024

Such a shame, was just reading on the CSO site about project "Riverbend 2.0". Amazed still how they state nothing was in secret and the demise everyone else responsibility, whatever.

It’s wild to think that for the first time in almost 100 years that Sunlite Pool won’t be opening this weekend. Surely a credit to CSO/MEMI. I’ll leave it at that.

^to be a terpy and pull a factual, it didn't open Memorial Day weekend in 2020 due to Covid....but yeah get your point.

Something else caught my ear on a food review of Riverbend this season. Hmmm, since the old agreement Vic set out the door I driving at in earlier remarks...how come Donatos (its not bad and a great family company) and not Larosa this year? I will stand corrected, but guess MEMI had a number of aspects prepared...just throwing it out there for discussion....I recall the reason a number of venues switched beer brands with Mr. Asper back when. There a fox in the henhouse and think CSO built the coop...

CSO/Memi are the worst. Still mad that they removed the rides and struggled to operate a competitive amusement destination the last 30 years.

I’m still mad that they aren’t keeping a public swimming pool in the center of where their parking garage will be.

Are they definitely going to be installing a parking garage?  I don`t know how they intend to keep Lake Como and not have a parking garage.  As it is, they already sometimes have to utilize parking from Belterra Park.

It is really a shame, the down fall of Coney.  The lack of investment in the park the last several years (even before the rides were removed) meant the writing was on the wall.  The place had so much potential, if someone had invested in the place properly and make wise investment decisions.  They never really did try and build on the foot traffic that was traveling through the park grounds everytime there was a concert.  I will always cherish my memories from working there over 20 seasons.

I do know that Tom Rhein, who used to be the guy in charge of food service/Riverbend concessions is now working for the concession company that is operating the food stands at Riverbend.  He was a good historian on Coney`s history.

Sadly investors a lot of times are like the Cookie Monster. Constantly feeding and feeding off of profits, never satisfied and nothing is ever enough.

Definitely? No. Someone I know who works at Riverbend told me that. It sounds logical.
