SPONGEBOB_FAN_97
I’ve attached the word rumor to this thread to appease the mods (they don’t like when the truth gets out too early…) even though it is the truth, please circle back to this thread in August after the official announcement. A Conjuring house designed by Plague Productions is coming to HAUNT this year in the former Blackout building. They’re building an extended queue now to accommodate the crowds. A sister house is going to be built at Carowinds.

Losantiville Mining Co.
A house based on The Conjuring would make sense if the new Six Flags is choosing to expand its IP-based mazes into the Legacy Cedar Fair parks for Halloween Haunt. Plague Productions has worked with both former companies, but I can't immediately tell if they've done any IP-based sets for companies outside of Lionsgate and Paramount (who owned the IP their sets were based on). How does The Conjuring fit into the props that were seen in the recent pictures posted from the Club Blood/Blackout building? I really liked the idea of it being a vampire maze or a gothic maze. Would this be the first IP maze at Kings Island? I could see Carowinds using their Aeronautica [Action] Theater for something like this, especially now that demolition permits have been filed for the inside. I'm absolutely dying to know what Haunt will look like this year. Hopefully we'll see some good stuff come in. Although, please, do not make me pay for a Haunted Maze Pass like the Legacy Six Flags did. Find another way to raise money that does not remove a benefit from pass holders. Go check out some of Plague Productions other work here: https://www.plagueproductions.com/
KIghostguy
Plague Productions built Ghost in the Machine at Dorney Park, which is absolutely stunning. It would be great for them to build a house at Kings Island!
Diamondback_Is_King
For somebody who doesn't watch horror movies or isn't into the super scary stuff, can someone explain what kind of theme this haunted house might be? We have aliens, abandoned hotel and grocery store, slaughterhouse, wax museum, and corn maze/scarecrow. What is this new theme going to be? Also @SPONGEBOB_FAN_97- do you have any source that says this rumor is true, or are you just "sure" based on your own reasoning. I hadn't heard this before, so I was just curious if you had any source to back up your claim.
teenageninja
True Haunted House most likely. The Conjuring movies are mostly about ghosts and ghouls.

Losantiville Mining Co.
I still don't entirely see how The Conjuring fits in with the stuff in the limited view pictures we saw from the building. Then again, I haven't seen any of The Conjuring movies all the way through so I wouldn't know if they have something like that. I do know that those movies are based off of some cases by Ed and Lorraine Warren (believe what you will about those two), but I don't entirely recall any of them having something like that. I could be wrong. Maybe this is a Conjuring movie I haven't seen a part of? The stone archways and wood handles do not give me the strongest 1968-70 Connecticut haunted house vibes. Unless this is somehow leftover from something else, in which case, c'est la vie. A look back at the photos posted in the Kings Island General Discussion on May 24. (Images: @Cedar Fair Fanboy) To me, it looks like a pirate theme inside. I would enjoy a pirate-themed haunted house similar to the "Hooked" haunted area. But if it is the Conjuring House theme, then I guess prates are out. But I would like a pirate-themed house vs just a haunted area. Not sure how pirates would fit in to the building or the surrounding area theme.
BB1
The fact I know more about USO HHN than KI Haunt is upsetting, but also I just don't have many circles left in the KI Haunt sphere. (Ironically, everyone goes to Cedar Point or just skips it and goes to Orlando) From the photos I saw I could easily see that being pirates or something medieval. Could easily see the park try out something like a pirate haunt after the success last year or just create a torture ren fair concept based on the photos posted. SIX has been working with external properties but the implementation absolutely was atrocious. It just wasn't up to par and I would be hard pressed to think the parks would be OK with continuing with a very lackluster offering of a major property. I hope that KI can bring a really next level event this year, the likelihood of that happening is the same of me not going to HHN Orlando 15 times this year (which is happening, getting the pass with express)
Losantiville Mining Co.
Kings Dominion posted about their 100 days until Halloween Haunt counter a little while ago. Carowinds is also now promoting auditions times for Tricks and Treats/SCarowinds/Winterfest. It would've been nice to see something similar from parks like Kings Island. Universal's announcements were late this year (likely due to Epic Universe opening), but some of their stuff seems cool. I think their Jason/Friday the 13th house may be somewhat similar to the one Plague Productions put on for Paramount in the last few years. 21 hours ago, BB1 said: From the photos I saw I could easily see that being pirates or something medieval. Pirates, not so much since it would not be located in the accompanying scare zone. I don't think the park should move Shipwrecked either just for the maze to be in it. There is really only enough props/decorations to go in the space it was in last year. Whether or not the parks are OK with continuing lackluster offerings is out of the parks hands IMO. It has been very clear this year that Six Flags does not care if their offerings are lackluster or are declining in quality. Quality and guest experiences seems to have been placed below a few other items on their priority list while dealing with debt and shareholders. If they would like to change my mind on that, they can redirect some of their funds away from top-tier executive salaries and find other ways to improve the parks without record-breaking and bank-breaking additions. Kings Island could really use a refresh for Haunt beyond just one new maze. They started to do that with the addition of the interactive lanterns, but the overall event is not what it was in 2022, and is far from what it was in 2015. I'd really like to see some new love come to the event for its 25th season!
DiamondbackFan
From the ParkFans.net bluesky account: https://bsky.app/profile/parkfans.net/post/3ltzgtpopsc2r Quote SCOOP: Legacy Six Flags-style haunted house upcharges appear to be on their way to a number of legacy Cedar Fair parks this year. At minimum we have seen solid upcharge plans evidence for #CanadasWonderland, #Carowinds #KingsDominion, and #WorldsOfFun. Quote Additionally, we have seen evidence that The Conjuring Universe IP is coming to at least a couple legacy Cedar Fair parks—namely we've seen evidence for The Conjuring at #CanadasWonderland and #Carowinds with an attraction called "The Conjuring: Beyond Fear."
BryanJay
They released information for haunt auditions today and I think this basically confirms it for me (it seems similar to what they do at the other six flags conjuring houses). Just based off of my assumptions, I think there’s a new traditional haunted house in the blackout building (probably pirate themed from the construction) and this experience goes in the Madame Fatale’s/Crypt building, which is why they had the daytime tours last season in order to test capacity in that space (which honestly would be sad for me if it meant the queue remnants of tomb raider were demolished for this but whatever)
disco2000
^That one shows they are looking for theatrically trained folks, whereas this one is just the random anyone can apply, so maybe it will be a few paid mazes and a few that are free...

But only there, and returned with a “story driven” idea with a tour guide and “pre show” host. It also has way better queuing capacity than the blackout location. I could see them adding black out back in as a way to compensate for the loss of MadameFatales as a self guided maze
Losantiville Mining Co.
What do they do for the Conjuring mazes at other Six Flags parks? Is it a guided tour through a maze or a separate experience altogether. This could lighten the blow with the introduction of the Haunted Attractions Pass if it's a heightened experience as well. I'd like to note that the posting does not include the word "maze" anywhere on it. They call it a new "nightmare", an "experience", a "world", and the "horror". Is it a new maze or another kind of attraction? Could we be seeing some version of Universal's RIP Tour coming to Kings Island for Haunt? Great Adventure recently released a new VIP tour experience, and it seems this model may soon come to other parks as well. 6 hours ago, BryanJay said: and this experience goes in the Madame Fatale’s/Crypt building, which is why they had the daytime tours last season in order to test capacity in that space (which honestly would be sad for me if it meant the queue remnants of tomb raider were demolished for this but whatever) This makes me wonder if they would do The Conjuring at some parks but use another IP at other parks. Last year, Fright Fest had a bunch of different IP mazes including Stranger Things, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a maze for the Saw 20th Anniversary, The Conjuring, and Trick r Treat. Some of Magic Mountain's mazes seem to be going through a complete overhaul as well. I wish they could have built a "stage" in there so you wouldn't have to go down and back up those stairs, but I have a feeling that might also require the installation of fire sprinklers under the stage. That's a lot of extra storage space the park could have under a maze if they wanted to do it. I've also always found it interesting where the parks choose to use "Halloween Haunt" versus just "HAUNT". The only difference between the two logos is just the inclusion/omission of "Halloween", but you'd think there would be some reasoning behind the use of one versus the other. The front entrance sign they put up says "Kings Island HAUNT", they use "Halloween Haunt" for the online postings, and there is even a difference on those job posting flyers. It's just an interesting thing for them to do.
