I'm not an analyst, but to push him out prematurely would probably make the stock tumble even more. Shareholders want to see stability and most investors are either in it for the long haul, or they get in and out quickly. Buy low and hold or buy low and sell when it climbs back up.

@Hawaiian Coasters 325 to echo Beeastfarmer, I think shareholders understand it takes years for the CEO's efforts start to show a return. Doing so now would be very premature and cause even more shareholder issues.

@IndyGuy4KI and others - think you guys are 100% right, but common sense seems to be a lost art nowadays, especially in these situations. CEO’s can often be treated as the scapegoat for shareholder dissatisfaction. Maybe it’s justified in some cases, but generally it seems pretty dumb to pull the plug on a CEO this quickly. Then again, this whole merger is pretty dumb. Having a CEO that actually values guest experience, overall quality of the parks, etc. seems to go directly against the anti-consumer direction of the chain as a whole. I don’t think it’s fair to let individual parks bear that responsibility entirely, but I’m not sure what could happen.

At what point does a falling stock price become more than just a problem for shareholders?

The numbers help explain the pressure. The question now isn’t simply whether Six Flags can improve its results. It’s how much time investors are willing to give the company to do it.

Six Flags reported a second-quarter net loss of $202.6 million, more than double its $99.6 million loss from a year earlier. The company’s market value stood at about $1.2 billion as of Tuesday, with shares down roughly 42% over the past year.

For Six Flags, this is becoming about more than quarterly earnings or the stock price. It raises bigger questions about whether the company’s current strategy is working, whether the anticipated benefits of the Cedar Fair merger are materializing quickly enough, and what comes next if investors continue to lose confidence.

A sale is only one possible path. But when an activist investor begins publicly pushing for one, the conversation surrounding the future of the company changes.

For perspective, Paramount Parks was purchased for $1.26 billion in 2006.

I’m guessing they will push the idea of selling the land underneath the parks then doing a lease deal like they are currently doing with CGA. I’m sure the influx of cash will boost SF’s stock and JANA brothers will then sell their shares. Longterm there will be park closures when they can no longer pay ever increasing rent.

This makes me sad… but I can definitely see it.

A share of Six Flags stock is $10.86. A three-meat sandwich at Buc-ee’s is $12.99.

Apparently, brisket is the better-performing asset.

I mean... the brisket is pretty darned amazing. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with Buc-ee's food, but Six Flags? They've left me disappointed many times lol.
