  8. I had a great time tonight! After observing the Adventure Port construction, I rode Flight of Fear and the wait was longer than I expected. Saw What the Dickens, Tinkers and the Parade. What the Diskens was funny and a good way to start the Wintetfest season, but the other two were definitely highlights of the evening. Moving Tinkers from Festhaus to Kings Island theatre really improved the experience, IMO. The set was bigger with more detail, and people could (for the most part) focus on the show instead of other things. Though there was a malfunction towards the end (show ended early for some reason...), I was impressed and enjoyed the show (and I prefer the 2017 version of Tinkers to the fka "The Christmas Fever"... except ). The parade was fun and way better than last year. Had way more floats and performers this year, so that was good. Of course, I always run into people I know in the park and that's always good.

  9. I was a little disappointed to see that the meatball sub that they had served in the Festhaus in past Winterfests was not being offered today. In fact, they had no seasonal items offered at all in the Festhaus.

  10. Really loved the pathway behind the Festhaus, between Delirium and the Kings Island Theater. The park looked great. The loading process at the train was rather unimpressive. Lots of operators, but they were not filling every row, and not directing guests to empty rows. Guests were confused which caused delays. The garland on the coaches of the green car were illuminated, while the garland on the red coaches were not. Also, all the 12 drummers drumming were dark when our train went by around 7:15. Overall, the park was packed. To be expected for opening night and rather pleasant weather.

  12. I would guess it will be in the general area. It’s practically akin to a holy site so I’d doubt the park is going to get rid of the rock.

  13. I wonder if that's permanent, or temporary for construction and will be integrated into the new entrance.

  14. Perfect! Completely forgot about that one

  15. Is anyone at the park tonight able to confirm if any construction on Adventure Port has started? Any walls up? Might be best to start a new thread to cover it up through opening day.

  18. For roller coasters, they have two different shops. They have the wooden roller coaster shop where the trains for Racer, The Beast, Mystic Timbers (after Winterfest), and Woodstock Express are taken to. And for all the steel roller coasters there is also a shop. During the off season, the trains on all the roller coasters in both shops are disassembled completely, cleaned, inspected, and then reassembled for the next season. For flat rides, as far as I am aware of, most if not all the maintenance is done right there at the ride. I know that Monster is virtually disassembled at the end of every season and I believe the logs in the log flume are taken out and stored in the picnic grove as well as other parts to other rides. The buildings these are most likely maintained in are the buildings on the north side of Racer outside of Area 72. And the steam engines on the KIMVRR are maintained in the engine house on the railroad. The buildings at the front end of the park are office buildings as well as warehouse space for other departments of the park. Fun fact: If I remember correctly, I saw somewhere where Kings Island spends a good $100,000 on just wheels for the roller coasters.

  20. Interesting, so does Blitzen's Brewhouse mean no buffet there this year?

  21. Maybe a train got left parked in the station on closing night and they had to cycle it around to get it to the transfer?

  22. Not to be that guy, but this post gets more confusing the deeper I think about it. The juxtaposition of mostly all of the other trains being already taken apart days ago vs Banshee cycling today in the 30 - 34 degree range on the 12th of November is strange. My thoughts: - Getting on ride footage - Testing something out - Looking at how the ride performs in cold temps - None of the above, I'm overthinking it and this is normal https://twitter.com/chadshowalter/status/1591472087197171712
