  1. I went to KI with my sister two days in a row last week, Thursday and Friday. We were going to do the homeschool booklet thing but *shrugs* eh. When we got there late in the afternoon, we rode Delirium. No line and empty seats. It was a quite enjoyable day beacuse all the rides had no lines. After we did Delirium, we went to Invertigo and rode twice without getting off or switching seats. From there, we went to the Planet Snoopy log ride and then to WWC and got SOAKED! It was awesome... After WWC we went to Vortex for my first ever ride on it, I didn't really want to ride it but I made myself ride. I should have listened to others on KIC because it was rough and beat my head. I don't know that I want to ride it again but my cousin will probably make me ride with him at least once. That may be my last ride on Vortex ever. From there we went to FoF and I noticed as we were walking through the building they didn't have the movie running or the lights on. It was great because it was a literal walk on ride. I decided that since I tried Vortex I should try Firehawk as well. We had about a ten minute wait for the ride and made some friends in line who we ended up riding with in the back row. I was a little nervous to ride but it didn't look like a bad ride. I changed my mind as soon as they laid us down to start the ride, I thought "Oh crap what have I gotten myself into!" As soon as the ride was over I couldn't wait to see our picture,it was hilarious. We actually bought the photo it was so funny. I have decided that the two new rides that I tried on Thursday, were two rides I will never ride again. I'm happy I tried them because they were the only coasters I hadn't ridden in the park and now I don't have to ride them again. That was an awesome Thurday at the park. Now moving onto Friday's trip which was a great trip as well. We got to the park late afternoon again and ate at Panda Express in FH, food was amazing, we love Chinese food. While we were eating my mom told me IndyGuy was at the park that day and she had his phone number. Once we were done eating she texted him and we met up at Diamondback. I was excited to ride with a fellow KICer. We rode DB quite a few times, a couple times at night, which was a first for me. We did The Beast a few times, one was a night ride which was great. We rode Invertigo in the front/back seat which was another first for me thanks to IndyGuy. We also did Delirium, Flight Deck, Adventure Express, The Racer, Flight of Fear and Backlot Stunt Coaster. All of them were AMAZING! I really had the best time waiting in the lines and getting to talk to IndyGuy about KI and not have to explain everything like I have to do with most of my friends. Thanks IndyGuy for not running off and riding by yourself when you found out that you were stuck with a bunch of girls! XD I hope we can do it again soon!

  9. I had a great time hanging with you and your family. One of the biggest benefits of KIC is having fun with fellow KI fanatics! I have made some great friends meeting KIC'ers at the park. Glad you also had a good time!

  13. Or, or, instead of businesses wasting their money on an anti-bullying campaign which, I may point out, WON'T work because it is giving the bullies what they want (attention,) and switch that around and teach kids life lessons that they are not learning at home and by interacting with other children outside of school during their preteen and teenage lives. I'm sorry if people don't agree with this point (I really couldn't care less to be honest, its my opinion,) however the generation growing up right now are trying to learn everything with a controller/mouse in their hand, and you can't learn life lessons that way. The only way that these lessons will be learned is through face to face interaction, and learning how to deal with bullies and stand up for yourself is a life lesson. In conclusion, instead of trying to run BS campaigns, lets turn this issue around where it belongs.... THE PARENTS, and how society is flowing.

  14. I don't want to sound cold and un-feeling (I was "bullied" in Jr. High also... 8th grade, under 5' tall- chased on my bike through town running EVERY stop sign risking life and limb while being chased by 5 boys much bigger than I- oddly they thought I was being unreasonable by reporting to the school). I got over it; most of them never left town, have bad jobs, and drink their sorrows away. So, I have some "relate-ability" here. If Kings Island ran a "Anti-Bully" campaign, what possible results would it produce. I don't honestly think that there will be a single person change their ways because KI says that they're against bullying. Its kind of like strict gun laws- it only keeps firearms out of the hands of law-abiding citizens; if someone is bent on wreaking havoc with a gun- a law saying that can't have one won't stop them. Conversely, just because there is an anti-bully campaign doesn't mean it will produce results. You can't legislate morality- unfortunately that needs to start at home. I worked with teenagers for over 10 years, and I have to say that the "bully's" get it honestly; after meeting some of the parents, it makes perfect sense. You need a million licenses for just about anything, but any idiot can be a parent. Was in Walmart a few nights ago getting a last minute vacation item... it was 1am. there were a pair of late-teen parents there with a toddler. 1am. the child was cranky and the couple, without wedding rings, were intermitently yelling at the toddler. This was an angry child operating with minimal sleep that will translate into an angry teenager that will likely bully those around him someday. No anti-bully campaign is going to stop that.

  15. I personally like the Boomerang Bay theme better than Soak City. BB was no Disney park, but it has a good little theme going on. Soak City still is "themed", but its just a beach theme. Obviously the new paint, wave pool, entrance, and lazy river are great additions to the park, I just like the old name better. I would much rather have Soak City 2012 than Boomerang Bay 2011 though.

  17. Just got back from Coney today. It was nice, quiet and a good day for a stroll around the park. Unfortunately, I did not find anything of substance in new construction. I started by the west parking lot and circled the whole park. Not one single new concrete footer. There was some trees being removed by the basketball courts and Putt-Putt Golf, but nothing substantial. In addition, I worked Children's Hospital Day last Saturday and heard from a pretty good source the roller coaster might be nixed because it would come in over budget. I hope this is unfounded, but they have been right about The Twister, the floral clock and Zoom Flume. pilotank

  18. I didn't want to start a new topic so I'll just post here. Is anyone annoyed by the URL for the site? On the commercials I just realized how they say it..."visitkingsisland.com" but it sounds like "Visit KingsIsland.com". They really need to change it. Why have they not bought the KingsIsland.com domain name? It's not used anymore.

  24. If you want something relatively small that takes you upside down, a flat would seem more appropriate. A modern Corkscrew would be balked at by fans of big coasters and would be too scary for a kids/family ride.

  25. I agree, i think, with Tom. A lot of these programs make us "feel better" because we think we're doing something- when in reality, these programs don't do much to affect change at all. in a majority of instances, "Bully's" are a bi-product of their home environment.

  26. KI Original Employee, too much of your post seems to focus away from bullies accepting responsibility for their actions. While it is true people should stand up for themselves, just because the victim does not stand up for themselves is absolutely no excuse for the bully's actions-that is like saying that the thief is less guilty just because you leave your wallet half-way out of your back pocket for him to take. And I would like to address the issue of you becoming friends with the bully after you fought him: To say that anyone has to earn the right to be treated with respect and dignity, with all due respect, is a bunch of hogwash. If a person expects me to "prove" myself to them by punching them in the nose, then I want nothing to do with them-real friends love and respect you for whom you are. The whole idea of today's anti-bullying campaign, in short, is to stop blaming the victim and make bullies accountable for their actions. I might add that there are other ways of standing up to people besides physical force, Physical force does not prepare one for the real world because, if you used physical force against a bully at work do you know what you would be? Fired. PS: I know I am speaking with a lot of passion but it is because I feel passionate about the subject. Nothing personal against you, KI Original Employee, as I do like a lot of your posts.

  27. That's often not true anymore. Bullies are quite frequently the popular, athletic and confident type. They don't simply pick on the weak though that type of bully does still exist. As an elementary school counselor, I saw plenty of times that fighting the bully just redirected them to someone else. Research (Olweus, Josephson Institute, etc...) shows that creating a community and school environment that puts down bullying is bar far the most effective. In most cases, it take far more than one person beating up a bully to stop them.

  28. Something we finally agree on... Spongebob has become so terrible. The original episodes (according to me, 1999-2002, and 2005 wasn't that bad) were great. They had subliminal messages, crude humor (not to the extreme as today) and were overall fun, slow, and worth watching. Today's Spongebob is fast paced, includes what I would consider graphic violence (I mean, it's not bad, but for a cartoon on Nick it is), gross humor, etc., etc. I remember watching one episode where Spongebob ripped his face off and you could see his internal organs. WTF? Old Spongebob 1,000x > New Spongebob Sorry, back on topic now.

  43. My condolences as well. KIfan, this has been going on since before I was born, but I think it is just now coming to light. A kid in my 7th grade class was bullied daily-and finally one day he went to the town library and put a bullet in his brain right in front of everyone. My class has a memorial for him every time they have a reunion; however, I view them as a bunch of hypocrites. Some of those very souls were the ones that made his life a living hell, and now that he's gone they're going to be sorry? Too late now. I went to the same school and had the same issues, as well as the same bullies. I am not looking for sympathy or anything, but my experiences up to freshman year turned me into the recluse I am today. That same year, I had a teacher lock me in a closet for not understanding a music piece. Randy didn't deserve what he got, but he had no one to help him-and I have no sympathy for those who are sorry now. I am glad its getting out there now. Maybe we can prevent a few suicides and Columbines.

  44. Bullying is one of hundreds of hot topic issues right now and while I agree it would be cool if all businesses ran campaigns about it, I don't believe it is extremely high on the causes that Kings Island would be the appropriate candidate for. If Kings Island was a hot bed location for bullying I could see them wanting to raise awareness and prevention, but this seems like something that needs to be focused in the places where it's more prevalent, like schools.
