Yet you are still here. Differently abled people are entitled to equal opportunity, which I have fought for for most of my career. That does not mean a pass to do what one wants and then to cry out "But I'm disabled." rights are far too important to use only as a crutch. If I have truly offended someone who was not doing that, I apologize. I do NOT apologize, and never will, for knowing and expecting that all of us can achieve great things. And, by the way. If I have a problem with someone or their conduct, I tell them. I don't wait weeks or months and then "Hint. Hint" on a public forum. You won't get much done in life that way. Disability may be a fact of life, and for many of us it is., but it is not an excuse to be used for life.9 points

I enjoy seeing that the park is actually putting light upon the dismantlement of the ride. Seeing how many of the posts and updates about SOB continually reference future park expansion, fills me with hope that there are currently plans for the area. Reminds me of how Disaster Transport and Space Spiral were announced for dismantlement before Gatekeeper was announced. But realistically, nothing will be there in 2013, hopefully 2014.6 points

Info for 2012 has been added below and to the original page. Pictures from Kings Island's facebook. --- 2012 A new haunted house and several new scare zones were added, as was a new dining experience and a new show. Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror (The Crypt) - A wax museum style haunted house. Utilized various props from Phantom Theater and The Crypt. On-ride photo included at beginning. Madame Fatale's Dead Inn Feast (The Crypt) - A unique dining experience hosted before the start of Haunt and housed in the former antechamber / preshow rooms of The Crypt. Nightmare Alley (Pathway between International Street and Action Zone) - A generic scare zone with an extensive use of eyeballs. Freak Street (Planet Snoopy) - A new name for 2011's Nightmare Alley. Grimm Blvd. (Action Zone) - A steam punk fairy tale style scare zone Death Drums (Action Zone Water Tower) - A unique music show. Returning attractions were Slaughterhouse, Club Blood, Wolf Pack, Cut-Throat Cove, Massacre Manor, Mysteria, Urgent Scare, CornSTALKERS, Tombstone Terror-tory, CarnEVIL, Holiday Horror, Cemetery Drive, and Hot Blooded. Half-Pint Brawlers did not return, enabling Graveyard Shift to be performed during Haunt hours. Cut-Throat Cove was reversed, placing the entrance near Sling Shot and allowing Viking Fury to remain open at night. The queue was reworked for Tombstone Terror-tory so that guests would enter through the White Water Canyon entrance.4 points

Please tell me there is an inside joke here? Terp and I may disagree on numerous topics, but it has NEVER come close to being disrespectful. It sounds like CoasterOhio is not only looking for special treatment, the member is looking for a handicap parking space at KIC (metaphorically speaking, of course). - Brown. Who's daughter was diagnosed with a disability, and made sure the ENTIRE family treated her the same as any other kid to prevent the excuse crutch from EVER being used.4 points

I'm not much of a KIC enthusiast. I've never even met Dane, Boddah, or The Interpreter. Actual (slightly mushy) answer: I don't know. I know enough random KI ride trivia to make my non-coastering friends' eyes roll, but I don't get psyched every time I go to the park like I used to. I still love the park very much, but it's become less of "this is the best mini-vacation ever" and more of a place where I can relax and get away with each trip. I've come nowhere near the 18-ish visits I made in 2008 in this year or last, but I feel like I've learned to appreciate the place in a new way. (I guess that's one thing that can be said for the removal of The Crypt for me: I never really noticed this until this year. Once upon a time, riding it and Son of Beast were the meat and potatoes of a KI trip for me and my friends.) If you told me a year, I probably couldn't tell you with much certainty (unless we're talking the late 90's, 2000's, and whatever you want to call this decade) what rides came or went, but I can point out several places in the park where I've had fun experiences since I started buying my own passes four years ago. More times than not, the fun we've had was because we were at Kings Island. Summarized: I love the place, but not for any particular reason related to what's there, haha. EDIT: Except for Adventure Express.4 points

Just now got around to photographing some of my memorabilia I treasure. The first of which is something which I believe is very rare as I have not seen this anywhere else. These are my Face/Off playing cards from the Paramount days. I believe I bought these in 2002 when KI was celebrating their 30th Anniversary Season.3 points

I voted 10, but I guess I am really a 10+. After being on these forums for close to 3 years now. I have gain a lot of knowledge, respect for members and park, and most of all friends. I have only meet Dane a few times, I hung out with Boddah at opening of haunt for several hours and enjoyed his company. I have briefly meet Terpy and got to shake his hand at KI once, but still consider him a good friend as I do everyone on KIC. I really enjoy meeting others from the site especially the younger ones that have a real passion and genuine love for KIC and KI. I had the opportunity to meet and ride with a few of our younger KIC'ers like ohiocolts and beatie1980 and it makes me proud to be part of such a fun and dedicated group of people that have the same enthusiasm as me about KI and other parks!3 points

Agreed. Particularly in an election year, Cedar Fair should be more savvy than implying only Democrats are frightening. Pretty sure Reagan got me on Friday... I know they are only going by the calender, and they aren't trying to be political, but that's also a reason to have both sides. Who knows? George Washington with an ax could be lurking around. Last year Bill Clinton had the misfortune of leaping out right in front of my neice, the only thing I could think of was "Not her, you don't!" I hope he got the humor of that. If it were any other president, the thought wouldn't have entered my head. Bausch and Lombe used to have a good eyedrop solution, I don't know if they still make it, I no longer wear contacts. Fair warning, anytime you are in a situation where say, the residue of something like fog can get in your eyes, sometimes drops can only make it worse, it a gross way.3 points

^knowing him as a man of good character and true respect for those with disabilities, I would imagine there was misunderstanding involved. I can't think of anyone else here who has made more posts against inappropriate stereotypes or derogatory statements than he. There are several people here that I have tremendous respect for and I owe the majority of my KI knowledge to this site. I find peace, comfort and joy with these friends (some I've never met) and am glad to be a part of this community. I get annoyed at immature posters and haven't posted much recently but I can't imagine I'll ever stop returning to KIC.3 points

wow. just read all comments on thread. That's about 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. I've read things from the park's press release that I am sure was well prepared and rehearsed... From that I would surmise a few things: don't expect anything in that area except grass and weeds for 2013 and maybe a construction zone in some of it for 2014. the words were clear way for future expansion. I think for some on this board that means every acre used by SOB in that expansion... doubtful. from my perspective. a few things: I anticipate an Action Zone makeover with a mid-completion date of 2015 and beyond. in regards to our newbie's critiquing the Board. I'm going to side with Terp on this. not saying that one should have 35k+ posts like terp to critique... but possibly more than 45.2 points

I beg to differ. While this site isn't like others, there are things that other sites do that could make this site better IMO. This is the premier website on Kings Island information out there and I see soooo much room for improvement. Just sayin'. Is it really too hard to ask for a little organization?2 points

I honestly think it was the best one the park has had in a very long time. It definitely is my favorite. I was really hoping they would do a good job with it considering they would have a full year to prepare for it. I was blown away by the maze and definitely will be doing it again. I didn’t feel like it was a generic maze at a theme park. It had its own unique atmosphere and was really well planned. It is by far my favorite maze at the park and hope they keep it around for many seasons.2 points

Welcome to KIC! I try to give everyone that is newer than me a welcome photo, and since your post was about fireworks... here is one of my favorite pictures I took at the WBEN fireworks this year. Pictures2 477 by KIC-Original, on Flickr It kinda looks like a double headed snowman.2 points

On July 4th, my boyfriend and I thought we were going to luck out and get to watch the fireworks go off while riding Invertigo. Instead we got stuck in the station because someone went into a restricted zone and the ride had to be shut down. They couldn't get the ride to reboot (or do whatever they do) properly to even let us off. They eventually had to manually release us. Fun Times!2 points

This is perfect. It totally describes me as well, down to the rides even. As I grew up through the 90's and 2000's, I made tons of memories riding and doing things that I thought would always be there. Phantom Theater, King Cobra, and the Antique Cars were huge hits in the childhood when they were removed. You can't replace memories like that. Son of Beast is the biggest blow for me, being that that ride was my coaster "moment" (when I knew i was hooked, haha) It really does give you a new perspective of the park. You create new memories every time you go, and you have to appreciate every moment you get there because you never know what won't be there next time you come. Hearing my parents tell me about The Bat, Flight Commander, and other rides of legend makes me wonder what I'll tell my kids about one day.2 points

I attended the Haunt on 9/21 (Friday). I must say, although the new Madame Fatale Haunt was rather great (even on opening night!), something felt sort of missing. My sister and girlfriend (both longtime attendees as well) both noticed it as well. It could have been the lack of the Fog smell we are now so used to, or the fact that there wasn't very much fog at all. The past few years Coney Mall has been something you can barely see in when walking, which I always thought added to the atmosphere of the night. To add to that, the combo of the fog and the scare actors is a fundamental of a good Haunt night. I think I saw maybe 10 scare actors around the park the whole night, and when they were around, they were either talking to each other or walking (not scaring). Everything else looked great. Action Zone had some life in it for the first time in years, and the decor around the park (music included) was awesome (Phantom Theater characters made me happy/sad to see). I'll chalk the lack of scaring the crap out of my 13 year old cousin up to being the first night, but hopefully someone or something gets us next time. Rides ran great! I'll be going back this Friday so I'll update then. Also planning on next Sunday (the 30th), and maybe the KIC Haunt night on the 5th.2 points

The ironic thing is that, in my opinion, the WindSeekers look more "upscale"; meaning they look more solid, what with their tower's solid shell, and the fact the seats are connected by metal bars rather than chains. This is proof that looks can be deceiving. I do hope that these issues are solved though, I actually thouroughly enjoy WindSeeker (even more so when I'm confident I won't be spending the night on it).2 points

2010 Two new attractions were added to Halloween Haunt in 2010. Wolf Pack (Son of Beast Station) - A haunted house that toured guests through a forest and into a creepy cabin, avoiding the werewolves that stalked them. Included an on-ride photo at the start. --- Half-Pint Brawlers (Festhaus) - Midget wrestling with an excessive amount of blood. Featured ring-side seating for an additional $10. --- --- Returning attractions were Slaughterhouse, Hot Blooded, Cut-Throat Cove, Urgent Scare, Cemetery Drive, Club Blood, Tombstone Terror-tory, Death Row, Trail of Terror, CarnEVIL, Massacre Manor and CornSTALKERS. Ghouls Gone Wild continued performances during the day, but ceased showings during the Haunt hours. Urgent Scare's on-ride photo was moved from the beginning of the house to the end. Club Blood received a new sign. The Beast was "hauntified" with the addition of fog and a "beast" monster. Halloween Haunt 2010 Entrance Display (via KI facebook) 2011 The most recent year for Halloween Haunt and a decent-sized one in terms of expansion. Holiday Horror (Peanuts Playhouse) - A haunted house themed to miscellaneous holidays, including Christmas, Halloween and St. Patrick's Day. Included an "on-ride photo" at the start. Nightmare Alley (Planet Snoopy) - A new scare-zone populated by carnival freaks Mysteria (Red Barn) - A rename and rethemeing of the former Death Row. Featured new lighting effects and an extensive use of Morphsuits. Fright Lane - Not an actual attraction, but instead a new service available to park guests. For an extra fee, visitors were able to shorten their wait for every haunted house/trail. Returning attractions were Club Blood, Wolf Pack, Slaughterhouse, Cut-Throat Cove, Massacre Manor, Urgent Scare, Tombstone Terror-tory, CarnEVIL, Hot Blooded and Half-Pint Brawlers. Trail of Terror did not return. Boo Blasters on Boo Hill remained open during the event and received at least four actors hidden through-out the ride and exit. Cemetery Drive was expanded from Tower Gardens to all of International Street as part of a new scare-zone. Included in this was a minor new attraction, "Buried Alive", with an upcharge of $5. CornSTALKERS was relocated to Tower Gardens. Urgent Scare lost its outdoor segment and its on-ride photo. Club Blood received a new paint job. --- ------------------------------------------------------- - 2012 A new haunted house and several new scare zones were added, as was a new dining experience and a new show. Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror (The Crypt) - A wax museum style haunted house. Utilized various props from Phantom Theater and The Crypt. On-ride photo included at beginning. I may get around to editing and expanding this, but that's the basics right there Hope you enjoyed; feel free to leave a question or comment.2 points

Welcome to the latest in a long line of Photo Trip Reports from me! In this edition, Jackson joins members of the KIC universe to tour the biggest, baddest, tallest, fastest (I know it's a little off, I couldn't say longest could I?) roller coaster in Kings Island's history, the new monster dominating Western Row Road, the one, the only, Diamondback! The previously scheduled trip around the site for January 31 was postponed due to Snow and Ice! Ironically, this event was almost postponed due to a possibility of snow. But the Lord, Mother Nature, and theme park gods smiled upon us and gave us a light enough drizzle to let our tour happen. (Yea, I read it Ryan) In the middle of the tour, right about when we were outside Rivertown Junction (Read on if your Baffled), it started drizzling. It continued to steadily pick up pase until by the end of the tour we were running for the cars to hide from the cold, windy rain. I am even told during the ACE Winter SOAR event it was snowing! But the Weather did not keep the KIC Forumites from having a good time, like always the group was a lively and fun bunch, and quite a pleasure to be around, despite the weather. We were given a walk through International Street, then into Nickelodeon Universe, through Rivertown and past The Beast, where we were given the opportunity to see the new pathway leading to everyone's favorite woodie! We then progressed through the back end of Coney Mall and into the Pathway closed off for 2008, which WILL be returning. A Quick Q&A followed in the Skyline Chili Place, then we walked back to our cars as the weather worsened. I have to say, this was a great time for me, seeing others and Diamondback in the offseason was very helpful to the ole' Offseason Blues. I'm sorry I was unable to attend the Jungle Jim's and Krazy City meet up, I would have liked to be there. Picture Time! I promised Adam (Pkiboy) that I would show him my camera. This is what I take my pictures with, I only wish I had one like Ronny. Unlike 3 weeks ago, the weather was windy, cold, and little to our knowledge, was about to rain. Still, Kings Island beckoned! And the numerous peaks of Diamondback were waiting for us! Kings Island looked, as always it does in the offseason, cold, lonely, a desolate location. Waiting for Visitors to bring back life to the park. Diamondback has been fully constructed, and the trains were on for a bonus! Like all B&Ms, Diamondback is a magnificent piece of art There are just certain roller coasters that you can not help but drooling over Hi, I'm with the KIC group, is this the right congregated mass of suicidally cold offseason crazed coaster freaks, or is the one I'm looking for down the road? Through the same entry as before, we entered Kings Island, the one safe heaven for many an enthusiast. We were greeted with the same midways as we remembered, walking past these same views on sweltering hot summer days, running toward our favorite rides to get the next adrenaline rush. Ahh, memories. The same attractions from many a spring morning, running at the rope drop to get to the newest and best ride at the park, then wandering the midways, hearing the sounds, seeing the sights, and soaking in the atmosphere. Although this year, there was a new sheriff in town. Diamondback. The Eiffel Tower moaned in the high wind, creaking as it is battered by brutal gales. One Ride that is safely on the ground was Little Bills Giggle Coaster. Before we had time to finish enjoying the paths of Kings Island, Diamondback Greeted us with a 230 foot hill! The last time I was as close as I was yesterday, it was 2008, the park was open, and Construction hadn't even started on the second hill. My what a difference it makes. Another Post coming in a second....1 point

And if I recall, the big hubbub about the WindSeeker compared to the competitors' models was that WindSeekers' steel arms allowed them to operate in much higher winds, and at much higher altitudes (an absolute must for Cedar Point's windy peninsula and for the astounding 300' height, apparently...) Ironically, the old chain-and-chair versions offered by competitors seem to be, at least, no less resistant to heights / winds. In other words, it seems like the WindSeeker model had a whole lot of hoopla (music and lighting packages) and innovation for the sake of innovation (metal instead of chain arms) that are not proving themselves very worthwhile...1 point

My take on Oktoberfest is this, its more of a path way connecting Action Zone to Coney Mall. I know people probably hate hearing that but that is just my opinion. Out of every 5 visits I take to the park, I probably stop in Oktoberfest once. I personally beleive that it is one of the prettiest places in the park, just not much thrill; which is what I am looking for. I like it that way too. In my opinion, here are the real areas of the park: INternational Street, Planet Snoopy, AZ, Rivertown and Coney Mall.1 point

Yes, it seems that they are. Since Flash is no longer supported on Android and has never been supported on iOS, it means that videos in the forum will not work on such tablets. Some apps that try to replace YouTube Flash content with an appropriate <video> tag, for example, might allow them to work seamlessly. The proper fix is to get an update for the forum software to resolve this, rather than using hacky apps to work around the problem. (Really, all that needs changed is the YouTube embedding URL hardcoded into the forum.) All YouTube videos are h.264 mpeg4 files. They can be played on any device or program that supports this format, regardless of whether Flash is available. When viewed from anything other than a Desktop web browser, Flash is definitely not used.1 point
