On a last minute whim last Saturday evening my dad said he was interested in going to KI on closing day. My wife had to work, and there was no way I was going to take a 2 and 7 year old to the park by myself. The weather said it was going to be 55 degrees and Sunny. Yeah Right! We got to KI around 10 and spent the first 2 hrs in PS. The kids had a blast despite it being 45 and windy, with no sun.. Kaylee in a Pink on a Zen ride! Korbin Korbin and Kaylee riding together! After a few hours in PS we got some lunch and headed to AE and then The Racer. Kaylee wanted to go along so we do a swap in the line. (Adult waits till that train comes back and hands her off to the other adult when they got off and then that adult will ride.) Everyone gets to ride and that way there is not an adult stuck holding the stroller at every ride waiting at the exit. I had several people ask if she was riding. Really people, yeah I am going to get this 33" child on The Racer that has a 48" height requirement. This method works out pretty good. I even had someone else in line tell me that was a good idea and they were going to do that later in the day when they caught back up with the rest of their family. We got a ride in on Viking Fury and went to the KIC meetup under it for a picture. Here is a pic of the KIC members that were there and knew about the picture. It was nice seeing everyone and meeting a few new members. We parted ways at that point for everyone else was getting lunch and Korbin wanted to head towards The Beast. We got a ride in on The Racer and Vortex before hitting The Beast. Koribin wanted to hit Vortex before we headed out for the day. We needed to be heading back towards Indy around 3 PM. Despite the less than desirable weather, we enjoyed closing day at KI. Looking forward to seeing everyone opening day 2013!9 points

So, I got a little board today while home from college and decided to try to match up some of my Son of Beast photos from 2010 with some I took on closing day 2012. A great deal of this inspiration came from a fantastic thread by our very own standbyme called, "Standing within' 3 feet of 1974." If you're new and/or haven't had a chance to see it, I highly recommend it. Just click on the link: http://www.KICentral...__fromsearch__1 Now I present to you Standing within' 3 feet of 2010: Son of Beast Edition! I hope you enjoy!3 points

That is the joke in itself...you came closer to getting to the point without even trying. Personally I like that The Interpreter has put me and others on their toes around here...I always try and Interpreter-proof any questions that I post on here...an amusement park site.3 points

Shark, I have a 4 year old daughter who I love dearly. Therefore I am very careful to not put her in dnagerous situations. You're right Shark, if she died under my care legal consequences would be a drop in the bucket of my pain. My previous career was dedicated to helping children in neglectful situations... and my primary goal was keeping them in the home by improving the parents ability to provide for, protect and nurture them. I have had many days in court over abuse and neglect cases and am considered an expert by many. If you put your child in harms way you are responsible. You're the adult and should take that responsibility seriously enough to always go the extra step in protecting them. Not putting them in dangerous situations. Whether or not she deserves legal consequences depends on the situation. If I took my child on a sled that repeatedly ended up going into a busy street and we eventually got hit and severely injured surely you would see me liable. At least I hope you would. If we we're injured hitting a tree that was well out of our path it would be different.3 points

1. Click your username at the top of the forum 2. Choose "My Settings" 3. Under Profile Settings, ensure your time zone is set to GMT-5 if you're in Eastern time (Ohio, eastern/northern Kentucky, most of Indiana - not including Gary, Evansville, or Santa Claus), GMT-6 if you're in Central time, or whatever offset you might be in. If the time was correct before but isn't correct now, you were likely set one hour ahead (-4 for Eastern or -5 for Central). 4. Check the box that says "Automatically detect when my timezone is in DST" if not already checked. 5. Press "Save Changes" 6. The forum will now display the time correctly all year round.3 points

(Sorry for the double post.) Anyone else find it amusing that, in the big rush to get the drawings across the park, the family somehow manages to run from Rivertown to Coney Mall to Rivertown to Oktoberfest to the Eiffel Tower to Oktoberfest to International Street? EDIT: Not to mention that, once Mrs. Brady picks up the plans on International Street and runs through the employee gate by the restrooms, she delivers them to Hanna-Barbera Land (as the Scooby Doo coaster can be seen in the background)?3 points

A TV channel... I don't really know how to describe it better. Sort of like TV Land, except on regular (non-cable/-satellite) television. They usually show what I consider "classic" TV--The Dick Van Dyke Show, M*A*S*H, The Bob Newhart Show, The Honeymooners, I Dream of Jeannie, etc. (Oh, and The Brady Bunch, of course.)3 points

Certain teases are simply part of this group. Becoming part of the group means learning the inside jokes. Sometimes it annoys me too but usually I quite like it. My wife would say the same thing about me on many...many things. Hope it doesn't bother you too much I should add it has never bothered me nearly as much as some avatars2 points

Thanks for sharing! It was nice to finally meet you, albeit briefly. I hope to see you again in 2013! The NWS forecast for closing day was spot-on. Granted, the very slight warm-up (to 51) in the mid-afternoon never happened, but otherwise it was very accurate with cloudy skies and temperatures hanging in the mid-40s. I normally trust the NWS forecast more than local news stations or Accuweather. Considering that Columbus had rain all day, we really lucked out. It was really nice to drive away from all that! Always good advice; the low was a full 9 degrees lower than forecast that night - and almost 2 hours early! Beast and Diamondback would have been much better had I dressed for the worse-than-expected weather, but we still had fun regardless. For everyone who hasn't experienced Diamondback in the rain at 45 degrees with just a t-shirt and shorts, I wouldn't recommend it.2 points

To be blunt, his mother is an idiot, and I have no sympathy for idiots. Any reasonable person should have known not to put a toddler in a position where he could easily fall over 10 feet into an exhibit of vicious animals. It's called "common ****ing sense". People who are that stupid should not be allowed to have children. I hope she goes to jail over this; they could get her not only for some charge over her son's death, but probably also for indirectly forcing police to kill an animal that is a member of an endangered species.2 points

TV channels started having decimals when the free TV channels went from analog signals to digital back in 2009. Can't really explain why some TVs don't have them, except to guess that they're older/have cable or satellite service and thus don't use the free over-the-air channels.2 points

I bet BB1 sits in his bubble bath and worships his shrine to Boomerang Bay every night! That being said, the fact that he gets people fired up cracks me up! He probably also has a baby pool in his living room with a kiddie slide going into it with homemade Boomerang Bay signs hanging everywhere! Forget the off season tour,i miss ice skating on the fountain!2 points

Hold your horses there broski. Think about it for a second, and then dream of what's coming in the next few yrs. As far as luminosity, that can either go, or not come to KI. I'd rather have fireworks, than a show with dancers and horrible music! If I wanted that, I'd go to a circus!2 points

Thanks! I never really planned on doing this, so the last two don't match up as well as the rest. As much as I'd hate to see that, it does sound like it would be interesting to watch. haha Thank you for the inspiration!1 point

Wow!! Thats pretty cool, I like how you were able to match each photo from the same position. Everytime I see the old SOB half torn apart, I think about the old days when trains still ran the rails of the wooden monstrosity.1 point
