Even in death, SOB has the power to convert each and every thread into one about itself. Narcisistic SOB.12 points

Well I went for about an hour today but the park was full I never rode anything. I did try and get some better pics of the construction but there's not really much going on. It was really nice though to just walk around the park and shop and take in the sites and smells. This was my 6th time there this year and my first time "stopping to smell the roses".9 points

Sigh. Son of Beast was shut down because the General Manager was not happy with the ride experience. It was removed after a thorough analysis of all available alternatives. The park would have done the right thing even had no lawsuits been filed as a result of the ride. The lawsuits did not cause the closure and removal. The incidents certainly contributed. Profits, safety, guest comfort. Parks put safety first. Guest comfort contributes to profit. Parks know that. Make guests comfortable and you can charge more. See, for example, Fast Lane.8 points

An inflammatory and overdramatic presentation? Very not like you. You have an item that you paid $X for that you no longer want. No one will buy it from you, so you decide to take an offensive stance and say "If you don't buy it I'm going to charge you $X + Y for it!" That's capitalism, I guess, but really? You're already out the $X. It would be charitable for someone to buy the pass from you for $X considering they could do it just as easily and much more safely through official channels. Instead of making yourself accessible and fair and saying "I made a mistake in buying this and I just want to break even," you're threatening to raise the price, ensuring that you make a profit from this... I mean, really? Why would anyone choose to use you as a merchant then? You've already spent that $X, so you would be LUCKY to find someone willing to pay anything near that amount. To turn this into a profit-seeking venture is just ridiculous. Try and recoup your losses but to threaten to raise the price? Is that supposed to make us want to buy from you?6 points

Really? And people wonder why sometimes this place is seen as less than welcoming. Do you have similar tests before you accept someone as a friend? The test itself and the person who did it is well meaning and fine. But as the price of admission here? No. Many of our best posters grew as writers and discerning people here. How many would we have lost with this nonsense? Let me add that I can think of at least two of our posters here that can't spell well, make many grammatical errors, etc. And their insights are brilliant, their thoughts unique, their enthusiasm and love of Kings Island unbounding. I, and many others, adore these guys and am very glad they are here. If they and their thoughts are not welcome here, who is? Perfectly stated thoughts always in compliance with the TOS aren't going to be found even on a linguistics forum (and I belong to several, some where I post far more frequently than here). I have one last question. The original poster. How do you think he feels about now? Are we proud of ourselves? Amusement rides. Kings Island. FUN. Friends. That's what this place is supposed to be about.5 points

Your coworkers should take a class in Reading Comprehension because the Ad clearly states " AS LOW AS $15 per month". That does not mean that every single purchase option is going to be at that price.3 points

I'll let others talk about Gatekeeper, I shall talk about what else is new in the park. Only the front half was accessible, therefore TTD and Gemini midways and Frointertown and Trail were not reviewed. For those who were there I was in the black DAFE shirt. Rides Corkscrews trains were repainted with red and blue on track. The words Corkscrew and Cedar Point remain on the lead car, however the design on the nose is missing. Millennium Force has finished it's three year repaint, the first hill is so blue now. Cedar Downs new floor looks nice and some of the horses have been touched up. Foods The biggest change was the drink provider, which plastered it's name on several food stands. The most notable is the nacho stand next to Scrambler is now red and called Coca-Cola Refresh station. Coke freestyle may be found at Midway Market and the former Spiral fudge. Spiral candy is now a make your own frozen yogurt sundae place and Transport Refreshments is now Lakeside Express. Several Food locations have new TV screen type menus. Pretzel Gourmet near scrambler is now Auntie Annes. Souvenir Cup system is the same size, original price and deal as KI. Miscellaneous New signs in restrooms telling patrons to text park if bathroom needs service. (Wildcat bathrooms are still that but Spiral was renamed Gatekeeper.) There are no turnstiles at Main Gate, they are using new technology mounted to the ceiling. Main Gate Guest Relations is bigger, better, brighter than the old one. There is no walkway from Preferred lot to Main Gate, one has to walk to main lot than back. Pavilion one is no longer usable, and three was demolished. I could not figure how to get to what remains of two and four (fully intact). Gatekeeper Does have bins Gift shop is nice and deceptively big. The area is really opened up, Trokia looks nicer without a box behind it. That is all I have for right now, If I think of anything else, I shall post it.2 points

Adventure Express; now that SOB's dominating presence is no more, AE feels somehow bigger and faster than it was during the SOB years (at least it seems so to me, after riding it for the first time this season today.)2 points

On the other hand...the park...if you don't hurry, the price will rise. Same difference. If you buy a Platinum Pass from Cedar Fair, it may or may not work at other parks. And a price is advertised, then a service charge is added online. There's a lesson, or more, in here somewhere.2 points

It's frustrating because those of us who have been around for a few years know selective's method of operation well. This is not out of character. I don't think he realizes the position he's in, which is NOT one wherein he holds a winning hand. He may be trying to bluff, but come on... Selective, YOU need US to buy your pass, not the other way around. If someone here is feeling charitable / sorry for you, they'll pay CLOSE to what you paid and you'll make back MOST of your expense. You're not in a position to demand things and hope to make a profit off of this, least of all because that's really very immoral on your part. That's what scalpers do. You made a mistake in buying the pass, so offer it at a discount and hope to make back most of your expense. It's silly to try to hold us hostage by insisting that if we don't hurry, the price will rise. Charge whatever you like - even for $5, I certainly wouldn't partake.2 points

Not only that, but he had a buyer here, decided to sell it to someone at his work instead, she didn't buy it, so he PM'd his buyer here (who had already bought two)--but after 12 HOURS--offered it to all comers here. Sigh.2 points

Zephyr is and always will be one of my favorite rides in the park. My second choice is Boo Blaster, so many people either love it or totally hate it. I take that ride as a challenge, that might be why I like it so much.2 points

They should have to take a TOS quiz before becoming a member of the site http://www.makeaquiz.net/?quiz=65368&k=b1e2a4f97093e8db979efb2eccf2e88e I got bored, tell me if you find any mistakes or anything.2 points

Day 2 was an absolute success! OSU day crowds weren't bad at all, and we rode every coaster in the park with time to spare. Gatekeeper's line was only about 20-30 minutes. Just a few things I noticed: Gemini's new station looks pretty good. The new lights and painting touch-ups all throughout the park really make a difference! Millennium's lights and paint look great! It was good to ride Cedar Downs with Gator to start the day, and we saw Don walking around and just enjoying the park as a guest, riding Raptor and then seemingly following us to Blue Streak afterwards (we think he was stalking us). The weather wasn't too bad, other than being a little chilly. Oh, and Gatekeeper is still awesome.2 points

Well, today was the beginning of my weekend in Sandusky with Zach (TTD-120-420). Media day was incredible. Things ran smoothly, the press conference was amazing to listen to, and it was a beautiful day. Oh, and Gatekeeper, Here are my thoughts on Cedar Point's newest addition: First off, I would like to rescind any qualms or concerns I had about this ride. I was very questioning all throughout construction and what not, and I would like to take a minute to say that I feel like a fool for that. This ride is incredible. We rode it 17 times today, in nearly every seat on the train. In terms of which side I prefer, the right is better. The wing-over with everything falling out from under you is miraculous, and there seem to be more exciting moments on that side. The best rides were in the front row, but the back isn't too bad either. In terms of the actual ride and layout, this ride is a menace. It is violent yet smooth. The valleys have incredible G-Forces (I even started to grey out, and I never do that). The keyhole is unreal. The second zero-g-roll is slow, but that makes it much better. This ride, if it were at KI, would be the best ride in the park. Overall, this ride is something that everybody needs to experience. This ride is beautiful as well. The colors, the lights, and everything else you could imagine were miraculous. The train's eyes were lit up, and even the photo booth and gift shop had a beautiful mural on the walls. The B&M roar we all know was nearly nonexistent, which helps at the front gate. The lakeside view only makes it that much better. Gatekeeper Plaza looked really good today, and the keyholes were incredible to look at in the dark. Once the grass grows, this will be incredible to ride. Another thing that really impressed me, was that there were no bins for bags and stuff in the morning, but they were installed by the afternoon. Talk about efficiency! Also, this ride is the most photogenic that I have ever seen; even more so than Vortex. I don't believe you can take a bad picture of Gatekeeper. There were only a few negatives about the ride itself. The biggest, in my opinion, was that the shoulder harnesses really tightened throughout the ride. It got to the point where it was almost painful. Also, the camelback airtime hills didn't really deliver any airtime, unless you sat in the very back row. Ultimately, this is not a ride I could marathon, because it is rather violent for a B&M. It shakes and jerks quite a bit and the G-Forces are intense. These are the only negative things I can find about this ride. The new front entrance is incredible, day or night. The buildings look nice, and the keyholes massive. The new flat screens looked good today as well. Unfortunately, the seagulls have already begun their attack on the new ride and entrance. Oh, and riding a ride at sunrise is way cooler than riding at sunset. And Trent Richardson, running back for the Browns, was on a train with us! Later on in the day they opened up Raptor and Millennium Force for us as well, which was great of them. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the employees, from Mr. Ouimet himself to the young lady serving us our food. I was impressed. And free lunch and breakfast was nice as well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I believe Zach will post some pictures on here later tonight! Thanks for reading- stay tuned for the rest of the weekend!1 point

I really enjoy Gatekeeper. I'm an average sized guy. Didn't have any issues with the restraints. The ride is great, not a parking lot coaster and is overall beautiful! As for the claim of the wait being about an hour around 10:30ish the night before, was total BS. I literally arrived at the park at 12:30 Thursday morning, was the 3rd car waiting to be allowed to park by the front gate. The line at most (taking out the fact that sometimes it took 10 minutes to reset media things avg) 20 minutes. OSU day line wasn't too bad either.1 point

Part of what I heard from someone in the know, who may or may not be on this site, is that Son of Beast was tore down, due to complaints about noise from Great Wolf Lodge and the area it covered is going to be turned into an all new campground.1 point

As one of Mr. Kinzel's harshest critics, I truly wish him a long, happy and prosperous retirement. His early efforts built Cedar Fair into a powerhouse. For that, we should be thankful. And the man loved a good coaster, or several dozen. He had great faith in the maxim "If you build it, they will come."1 point

I would have to say "Shake, Rattle & Roll." Countless times have I heard young guests, looking on the ride for what seems to be their first time ever, prematurely criticizing its appearance as potentially inane, or even milquetoast (in the anthropomorphic sense); only to actually ride it and discover they've been missing a diamond in the rough (so to speak). It's as fun as a Russian folk dance, and as lively as a Big Joe Turner/Bill Haley tune.1 point

I say that Viking Fury is not only underrated, it's the hidden gem of Kings Island. It's located in a beautiful spot and gives consistently fun rides.1 point

Without a doubt, Viking Fury and Congo Falls. While I think that most people are completely oblivious to it, the level of attention to detail on both of those rides will likely never be seen again at Kings Island.1 point

I always enjoy a good Ride on Viking fury in the end seat. and believe it or not, Surf Dog gives a real fun ride too!1 point
