  1. The troll complains of the jackhammering of DB, but lets it be known SoB was their favorite coaster. Comedy truly has no boundaries.

  2. Awesome use of Mr. Bunny. I'm a huge Bugs fan. And sometimes I wish *I* understood Terp's posts. A few have been known to make a wrong turn in Albuquerque. Terp, who finally rode a big blue B&M at Cedar Point Wednesday.

  4. Well, I obviously don't know what it is, so I have no idea if that makes me a moron or not. Maybe it would help if you could point out which of us are morons and which of us aren't. If it turns out my name is on your "Morons" list, then I'll be happy to crawl back into my hole and remain a silent lurker. Please let us know. I learned more from Terps one post than all the others combined on this thread (the footers is only thing interesting otherwise). I use the word moron with a smile and a laugh not to be taken serious (sorry). Shucks, I'm probably the biggest moron on here! Don't sweat it. I'm not the brightest bulb on the string of Christmas lights, so a lot of times I don't know how to interpret what Terp says. I wish I did.

  5. Today I had to take my grandpa to one of his doctor appointments in Moraine. After the appointment was done my grandpa told me that he wanted to check something out, however he wouldn't tell me what it was. He told me where to go and I turned onto Gettysburg Avenue and then headed to US 35. As I was getting on my grandpa told me to look off to the side. I was confused and asked him why I was looking at a green lake. Then he started to tell me about how there used to be an Amusement Park right where the US 35 currently sits. I asked him to explain what the park was like, but all he remembered was that there was a wooden coaster. So when I got home I decided to look up Lakeside Park and there was a lot more information than I thought there would be. So I thought it would be cool to share some of the information I found with you guys and gals. This site has the most information: http://soaphs.com/lakeside/index.htm The Flying Turns roller coaster was the first of it's kind built: This is a picture of a postcard I found off serbagunamarine.com that shows a picture of the lake and surrounding attractions. I also found some more postcards on the Dayton Metro Library Website: http://content.daytonmetrolibrary.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/postcards/id/612/rec/8 And finally here is an aerial view of Lakeside Park that I found on the Dayton VA website: This is all the information that I was able to find about the park. If you guys have any other pictures or information please post it. Sometime in the future I hope to head back down to the site and take some pictures of what it looks like now. It's a shame that there is nothing left of the park and that there aren't many people that know the park even existed, but I had a fun time researching the park and I hope you guys enjoy the information I found!

  7. As promised, The trip report from yesterday is here. I arrived at the park yesterday morning at about 11 a.m and didn't make it there at 10 as planned. I left my house and about 15 minutes down the road, I ended up turning around because I forgot my "sd" card for my camera which threw me off getting to the park at 10 along with stopping for breakfast. When I made it there I was not-so-happily greeted by a bus full of 2nd and 3rd graders running out in front of me and tripping me! I made my first ride of the day Vortex because I haven't got around to riding it yet this year. It was suprisingly smooth this year and the corkscrews were wonderful, worst part is always the brake run! After that I decided to swing by and ride WindSeeker a couple of times while the line was short. There was just as much wind to seek 301 ft. up as usual. I then made my way to Firehawk and was very, very suprised to see a short 45 min. wait which is great compared to the usual 2 1/2 to 3hr. wait. After Firehawk I stood in a 20 min. line for the front seat of the Worlds Longest Wooden Roller Coaster! Followed by that was a walk to the front of the park so I could get a peek of all the Action going on in the Zone. I noticed that once again, No camping was allowed, as usual. Then after conquering Delirium, which was by-far the best ride of the day, I rode Congo Falls, and then to cool off I plunged down the worlds tallest gyro drop. It was about 2:00 when I made some time to go eat, and I decided to get the usual pretzel from a pretel stand. I figured after eating that it was then time to go take care of riding the flats in Coney Mall. I rode Monster, Scrambler, Zephyr, the Dodgems, and Shake, Rattle, and Roll. They were all great as usual. I wanted to ride Viking Fury before leaving Kings Island too so I rode it 3 times, One of which was with a kind older gentleman from Greenwood IN, we had a good little talk. Before I left the park at 6:30, I made sure to ride WindSeeker one more time along with some of the flats again. My day ended with spending money in the souvenir shops.....As always Overall, The longest I waited was for Firehawk as previously mentioned, and the crowds were not bad at all. It was a Very good Friday to visit the park, to say the least. .......And the pictures......I couldn't take any because I had the wrong "sd" card for my camera!

  8. After being at the park yesterday, and seeing the construction area from many different perspectives, I can that this is my opinion of part of the layout, The roller coaster will dip into the valley of the area of the first drop and lift hill of SOB. There were footers being installed on top of the hill which leads me to believe that the coaster will continue down the hill in some manner and proceed into the "valley".... (Just my opinion on part of the layout.)

  9. 2013- New Cedar Fair, no Dick Kinzel. Past performance/philosophy is not an indicator of the future. Looking for patterns could be an exercise in futility. On the other hand, it has been stated repeatedly that Gatekeeper is an indicator of Cedar Fair's future direction, in many ways.

  10. When any serious accident happens at any Six Flags, there are always people who are convinced it happened at the one right down the road. I've always thought the Cedar Fair philosophy of subtly downplaying partnership ownership (except to some point at Sandusky) far wiser.

  11. I've been following this thread for some time and have been going to Kings Island since I was a little guy. Matter of fact, Top Gun opened the summer I went. I miss the theming of the rides a lot and that brings me to my hopes for this current project. I'm really hoping we see a combination, dark ride/coaster. Kings Island is really lacking a quality dark ride (FOF is a great coaster but theming lacks) that it could be known for. I also think mulitple launch zones would be fun. Verbolten from Busch Gardens seems cool (I haven't been on it) but seems to be too short. A nice long indoor section with lots of cool projections and even animatronics would be good, possibly giving the ride the ability to have more trains than usual. The Incredible Hulk at Islands of Adventure is one of the best coasters I've been on and I think most of that is because of what you see after you're launched out of the tunnel. The view is simply spectacular and while it doesn't add a dark ride feature like I'm suggesting, the experience is a good composite/mix of things - tunnel/theatrics, launch, water, view. With a lot of the big giga coasters, you seem to get a lot less theming in exchange for some very generic looking aluminum tunnels to go through. Dark ride elements, trees and environment, multiple ride stages - these are all things that could really give this ride that feeling of "evil" they're promoting with the signs. Again, this is my first post but I have been reading a lot. I will honestly enjoy whatever happens but am hoping for something simply incredible and new to the thrill world.

  12. That's an interesting point. Is it possible they designed Diamondback to deliberately jackhammer as part of the ride experience? Oh no please don't actually think that. Though I guess it could also mimic the rumble of a Nascar and the growl of a Behemoth. I do doubt it was intentional though but hey add a little theme and it's like now with rumble effects. Back on topic though, what I wonder is with the triangle footers which signify generally a meeting of multiple supports. Which generally occurs on tighter radii but not generally in low force areas. Why so close to the presumed station area? Not trying to be an expert just trying to decode. It's the stair effect from Backlot that they finally got to work. Duh.

  13. Maybe we just need a decoder to solve this mystery. Remember kids, drink your ovaltine.

  18. Read the "Terms of Service" lately? Sorry I had to. Back to the image I posted, I was referring to how the satellite captures the action of one vehicle/object in motion. Like I said I'm sure that's the same train. Terms Of Service? Trolls don't need no stinking Terms Of Service.

  19. Hmm...if this was real... BREAKING NEWS A major accident occured today on Superman: Krypton Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas when 2 trains collided at high speeds, killing 19 riders and sending 26 other riders to the hospital, many of them with serious injuries. The cause of the accident appears to be that, due to heavy crowds, the ride operators were too eager to send the ride's trains out and dispatched a train too soon after a previous train had been sent out. The coaster's block braking system, for some reason, seems to have failed and did not stop the 2nd train. When the first train hit the final brakes, the station was being occuiped by a 3rd train that was being held up because a overweight man was trying to squeeze into a seat on the ride, and the 2nd train came into the station and smashed into the first train, causing the accident. Six Flags officials quickly shut down the ride, and soon after released a press report: "We do not know why the safety system on Superman: Krypton Coaster failed earlier today, and we are working with Bolliger & Mallibard to find out why. However, for the safety of our guests, we have shut down all of our B&M roller coasters at all of the Six Flags parks until the cause of this problem can be identified." Most rival park chains, such as Cedar Fair, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios have also shut down their B&M roller coasters and are conducting their own investigations. Six Flags also revealed to us they plan to drop the Superman names from all rides that currently have them. "We have had enough s!&*@ with these Superman rides. First the Drop Tower at Kentucky Kingdom and now this..." Rumor has it most of the rides will be re-themed to Bizarro, Superman's Evil Counterpart. END NEWS REPORT B&M's reputation would be so ruined if this ever really happened...and possibly Six Flags too.

  20. Neither Millennium Force nor Diamondback are rough at all. Diamondback shuffles a bit after the turnaround, but it does next to nothing to reduce its speed. The trim and midcourse directly afterwards do that job quite nicely. In terms of B&M versus Intamin for roughness/smoothness, they're usually about equal. As for all of that speed and height make for better coasters nonsense that was going on a few pages earlier...it's like none of you guys have ever ridden Maverick or a GCI before.

  21. Well, with the pictures of food on the side and the walk-up window, my guess is it's an armored Brinks truck. Think, my friend....think. YES, it's a food truck. Sorry, I couldn't resist. It was just begging for a sarcastic, smart-alec response.

  25. I was there too, Cant wait to read your reports! The ride-op blocked the entrance for FOF before Time! I was very upset and wish I got her name! Fire her now! Just kidding, but we were pretty upset because Firehawk ride-op didn't close early like she did, and that was the only coaster we missed today! Other than that, It was a wonderful night in the park! I also noticed Congo Falls ride-ops were really boring and acted like they could careless to be there(I guess that means they care some right Terp!). We rode multiple times and all three of them had 'Whatever like attitudes'! They need some cheering up over there!

  33. And the forecast will probably change again before Monday arrives. There have been days we've gone when it was supposed to be horrible weather-wise but it ended up being really nice. It may rain the first half of the day and then clear off and be beautiful.

  34. So which is it? If your "source" is so reliable, why are you now saying it will be an Intamin? I think that one hopes that if one throws enough mud against a wall, some might just stick... Or, my other thought is that some post nonsense to try and get a reaction from people. I think my second thought is right in this posters case. The track record shows just that...not just in this thread, but others. So much so, that I have thought about blocking his posts.

  36. Just to hit on this point real quick- I visited Cedar Point last Sunday (6/2)- it was the slowest day I've seen at the park. Several coasters were down early on (due to high winds?)- including Gatekeeper, TTD, Raptor. Once Gatekeeper opened (around 10-11am), the line quickly filled out to the plaza (but not all queues were open). We waited in line for about an hour before riding. Later on in the day, 4-5pm, the line was 10-15 minutes long. Gatekeeper is brillant- its FUN, but not necessarily thrilling. There are quite a bit of forces, but the ride is smooth and has a GREAT view. Its kind of hard to explain...definitely not one to miss while at the park.

  37. ^ YOU HIJACK ME THREAD!?!?! I MUST KILL YOU! LOL, Just Kidding...feel free to "hijack" my threads. I don't mind, obviously. Also, jcglobe3, thanks for the advice. My friend did end up calling the hotel, and were told that yes, we can show up and get our tickets before 4PM. Can you imagine how much that would make staying on-site SUCK if that were the rule? One last question (well, for now): I was looking up CP rain policies around the internet, and read somewhere that Gemini is actually very sensitive to rain and has to shut down, same as TTD. Is there any truth to this? PS: Oh, Diamondback96, if it helps any, we are staying at Hotel Breakers...for 4 adults, 1 child, and 1 baby it cost us around $560 after taxes. We could have gotten a cheaper room, but they were all booked out by the time we had the money to even get the room...(checks web site and sees the cheaper room still offered) AGH! My friend must have made a mistake or something...oh well, my sister wanted a room with a beachside view anyway...

  38. When I did it last year, I had a little fanny pack and it was a life saver. I wish I had brought some kind of gum or mints for in between rides. I wouldn't suggest eating candy while the train is moving of course. You get a little dry but last year they provided bottled water. Also, I wished I had brought lip balm, aspirin and a better pair of sunglasses. I had a sun visor, but it was a challenge trying to keep it on at all times. But first and foremost...Bring Your Smiles and a bag full of Fun because it will be the best day of your life riding for a great cause as Kings Island does it BEST!!! p.s. Bring a phone charger to plug-in at lunch. You'll need it if you want to make it to the end of the day.
