  1. I'd seriously doubt it would be the world's longest for most ride types, but that is a possibility if this is a Giga Coaster...but most inverted, floorless, dive machine, and wing rider coasters (the other types I have seen considered here) don't go very far past 4000 feet, however, and the record to beat is currently 8,133.2 feet- held by Steel Dragon 2000 in Japan, which is also still the world's tallest (318ft) and fastest (95mph) roller coaster that isn't launched. It has held these records for nearly 13 years now, as it opened in August 2000...

  2. Some just get way too butt hurt when others disagree with their personal view, then publicly cry about it. This is a KI park forum. There is no serious Earth-shattering decisions made here. I personally love having fun with some (even poking fun at myself), but never let it get serious enough where I am actually mad. Those who choose to get emotionally mad at this stuff will certainly have (if it's not difficult already) a difficult time in the real World. People will purposely push your buttons just to get an emotional reaction because at that point you are no longer actually using intelligent reasoning but are letting your emotions take over. If it's happening here, you know it must be happening in your personal life.

  6. secondson has told us how he feels, for better or for worse. Let's not call him a drama queen or a hypocrite. No one likes to feel like they're being picked on, whether the feeling is justified or not. By our responses, I think we've justified it. Yes, this site is all for fun, and no one should be taking it personally. For some members, especially those new to our ways, that's easier said than done. Sorry. I have a lot of respect for you, but comments like that one are uncalled for. If we're going to criticize, can we keep it civil?

  7. What? What does this mean? The scarecrow I name him Bob! This was the first name I saw given to him Are we sure those are scarecrows? It looks more like an angry New England villager to me. You know, like something from a witch hunt, or Legend of Sleepy Hollow. When I first saw the pictures of them, I immediatley thought of an angry mob of townspeople. Sort of like those at the end of Beauty and The Beast... I sure didn't think scarecrow.

  10. Personally, I absolutely LOVE Afterburn at Carowinds, and could ride that ride all day long. If Kings Island does end up getting an inverted coaster, then I will be happy. It would likely have inversions, and Kings Island`s last coaster with inversions was Invertigo, which offers your standard boomerang inversion package. Not to mention, if it does end up being a B&M invert, it would be another B&M ride that is a capacity machine, with limited down time. That being said, we have no guarantee what type of ride it is going to be yet, let alone the manufacturer or name. Some people will not be happy, no matter what type of ride Kings Island installs. As The Interpreter has said, just be happy that Kings Island appears to be getting a new ride. When was the last new ride installed at Dorney Park? Or Michigan`s Adventure?

  11. ^^^ Yep. Steel Dragon 2000 also cost $50,000,000 (was another record when the ride opened, but this one has since fallen to the insanely expensive Expedition Everest which was $100,000,000)- and it put Morgan into bankruptcy to build it. Granted, a good chunk of that was because it's in Japan and hence must survive strong Earthquakes, but still. Then there's another issue- Steel Dragon 2000 was SBNO for 3 years, according to RCDB. And it just got new trains from B&M not too long ago... If Kings Island does want to go the 8,200'+ Giga route, I'd estimate it would take at least $30,000,000+ to do so, especially if they want a respected manufacturer like Intamin or B&M to build it. I don't know if Project 2014 has that big a budget or not... BTW, here is a picture of Steel Dragon 2000's lift hill and support structure...not hard to see why this thing cost $50,000,000! And for comparison...Millennium Force, a Intamin Giga that opened the same year...and was roughly about half the price...

  12. I have been giving some thought to joining a coaster club this off season in order to hopefully be able to go on a media day like they did for Gatekeeper. I'm leaning towards the Greater Ohio Coaster Club. They seem to have some nice events and its not expensive at all for a family membership.

  14. Excellent! My cousin works in the GR office where they keep a list of such promotional giveaways & why they were given out. A quick phone call will confirm your stacking allegation. Since we know you were at the park after 6:00pm, finding the representative that helped you will be quite easy. I do have to ask, why did you fail to mention the front of the line passes from the beginning? My cousin got back to me with some interesting & non-incriminating information.First being: front of line passes are not handed out for guests upset with long wait times. If they did hand out passes for such things, everyone would have these passes. Front of line passes have been handed out of mechanical issues or guest complaints with employees. Next would be: did DB stack like the OP suggested? If the line reached Beast, and the stacking was every train for 2 hours, the wait would have been approximately 3.5 hours as a full queue is approximately 2 hours. Given the OP had a 2 hour wait, it is impossible that every train, except two, was stacking. The intervals suggested by the OP would be less than half capacity & the red flags raised would have not only been immense, but solved within a short amount of time- that is why rides have supervisors. Their job is to be sure all safety procedures are followed then to keep thee lines moving at a brisk pace. Not to mention- there is no way ride ops would allow such stacking to occur for that extended amount of time. First and foremost they want all guests to be safe, but they also want to move guests along as fast as possible. Moving people safely & quickly is their badge of honor they take an immense amount of pride in. Last: that particular day was one of the busiest so far in 2013. She suggested to check out: visitkingsisland.com to see what days are usually not that busy. Special event dates are usually very busy. Now that this has been cleared up, we can now move forward with the typical enthusiast nonsense.

  18. Maybe the scarecrows are there to show you where the new haunt attraction will be. A big open field where they put an enthusiast on each footer. You walk from footer to footer and listen to the horror stories from Enthusiasts. They could call it Banshee's Enthusiast Encounter... "step right up. Yes you! You look like you want to hear from enthusiasts. Yes you can listen to Intamin versus B&M versus arrow conversations. If you make it past that, then listen to them yell and moan about the size of the footers. If you can discern which type of footer for which type of enthusiast, then you may make it to the end where you can hear about different themes to different rides. On your way out please stop at the gift store and pick up a Banshee key chain. " You just walk around the field aimlessly with out direction...

  20. The parking toll booths open at 8:30. I would assume that they don't want pedestrians entering the main lot from the drop-off area before then. However, 8:45 will be fine. But The Beast doesn't have OTSR's, and it's actually very smooth if you ride on a non-wheel seat. The Beast? Smooth? Yack. Four or five years ago, it threw my buddies back out and ended our day. It consistently beast the tar out of me. I'll give the non-wheeled seat a try.... I still don't see Vortex going anywhere anytime soon. While I'm thinking about beast....has it always had brakes on the first drop? That was 4 or 5 years ago. I think The Beast is running much smoother now. Yes, there has been a lot of retracking work in the past few years. The difference between The Beast in 2010 and The Beast in 2013 is like day and night, if you get my drift.

  21. Okay I'm just going to throw my opinion out here. YoungStud, although I think you are exaggerating a bit, I have noticed the same thing as well. DB has stacked the last time I was there. It was a rainy Monday and I cycled through only 3 rides in 30 minutes in the final 30 minutes the park was open. The line was stretched only to the bottom of the stairs. Now I do remember riding it and being stuck on the first brakes after the splash down twice. I have seen DB this year and not been too upset about it mainly because I didn't have to wait too long. I see where you are coming from YoungStud about it shouldn't matter if the line is 3 hrs long or 10 minutes long, and you are correct. Its like having a Ferrari and never driving it faster than 70 MPH. You aren't using the product to its full potential. Now one thing I have noticed on this board is that people cannot take criticism of KI in the least bit without getting offended. I posted two similar stories last year and got blasted for them. I posted a story about the new "action river" last year and people blasted me for "complaining" about getting shot in the face by the new squirt guns at the entrance of the river. Now i was upset at first but now I know I was in the right as you can see now they have completely stopped the use of those guns at the entrance of the river. I also posted a story about FunPerks and how it was a bad system because they never fully explained it to the public. They had us (their most loyal customer in the park as season pass holders) blindly spending an unknown amount of money to recieve mediocre prizes that were not worth the amount of money you were spending. I sasid it was a cash grab and truly only benefited the park while we received minimal incentives. I got blasted saying it was a great program and how its wonderful for the park. Now FP non-existent... I like KI I think it is a fun park but it is not without its faults. No park of that size can be without fault. If the park doesn't want to fix its faults then we, as loyal fans of the park, should be upset with the park. I think KI should strive to be the best park it can be and fix it's faults. There is plenty of room for improvement either with ride ops, guest experience, guest relations, etc. And to say anything otherwise is just flat out ignorance. Just my opinion.

  23. Yo Kid, Actually it does matter what day it was. Even from your first post, you had hoped the crowd had thinned out, only to find out your wish was terribly inaccurate and extremely misguided. Trip reports from other enthusiast sites noted how insanely busy it was that day. Many even questioned having this type of promotion on a weekend. Ironically, nobody complained about the supposed stacking on KI's only B & M coaster. Don't blame the ride ops for your poor decision. It makes you sound petty to complain about the park crowd when it was your bad decision to begin with.

  31. The only ride I've ever been on by myself is Zephyr, but I've been to Kings Island by myself a ton of times. It's not nearly as lonely as you'd think. It's the only way I can take a camera with me and feel free to take as many pictures as I'd like, as anyone I go with would much rather ride rides.

  33. I just got back from Six Flags Great America, experiencing their season of backwards - Batman and Viper; can you imagine if Kings Island decided to turn The Beast backwards? People would be lined up for miles. That would be so much fun! X Flight was fun, just as much fun as Wild Eagle; neither are a top 10 or top 20 in my book, but they're a not of fun, unique rides that are a must visit in the park. I really wouldn't mind Kings Island adding a wing rider; although I'd rather see something else. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

  34. We packed a picnic and noshed until the cars all left. Well, really until some drunken guy approached us, dramatically ripped of his shirt (only to reveal a flabby midsection), and kept insisting I was his 'contact', and he kept looking skyward as he said so. I know I look like David Bowie, but sheez - We pack a nosh when we go to Ki and stay til after fireworks. I'm gonna be stuck anyway, might as well have coffee and make an event out of it. Do you really look like David Bowie?! Honestly, I think it has to do more with my facial expressions when I talk, but they called me Bowie in high school- skinny white girl with a DA, what did I expect? My eyes are Dark, so it must be expressions and face shape. There's a picture from way back in 87 (when I worked in a costume shop), where I'm dressed as the Goblin King for the in-house catalogue,

  35. I can give some advice on this, though some of it comes straight from the park- if you don't have Fast Lane or FL+, I would strongly avoid Diamondback & The Beast during the AM Hours, as they are the 2 biggest draws in the park and thus everyone rushes to them in the morning- plus lines may have already built up for the stated ERT. I'd wait until later on in the day for these two, when the crowds have spread out more. Instead, I suggest heading under The Racer and going into X-Base for Firehawk and Flight of Fear. These rides are not as high capacity as the others (Firehawk has uber-slow load times and Flight of Fear's trains only have 5 2-row cars, according to rcdb.com) and should be hit up as early in the morning as possible to avoid their massive lines (1 hour+ is not rare) later in the day. Next up- some rides that will probably have short lines- Vortex's line may often look long, but the ride is so high capacity and doesn't have many "hidden" q-lines so it moves very fast and you're usually riding within 20-25 minutes. Adventure Express is the same way, often with an even shorter line. Racer is an older wooden coaster and has lost a good chunk of its popularity to newer rides over the years, but the fact it is really 2 coasters in one makes it the highest capacity coaster in the park, if both sides are running at least. Flight Deck is so far out of the way that many don't bother to ride it, resulting in short lines, but even if a lot of people head down there it has good capacity in spite of only running 2 trains, so it can handle crowds pretty well. Diamondback and The Beast also have great capacity, but these rides are so popular that this is often negated by the sheer crowds that come to them. As for the other adult coasters (Backlot Stunt Coaster, Invertigo, and the previously mentioned Firehawk & Flight of Fear)...ehehe...you're going to have to wait, or get Fast Lane, their capacity stinks compared to the other coasters. And one final tip- when the sun goes down and the lights come on, head to Rivertown and get in line for The Beast. It will probably have a 1+ hour wait, at least, if you don't have Fast Lane...but the ride you get at the end is totally worth it.

But plea for attention while claiming to leave? No. At least not here. And, for those curious, RICH is a great KIC person who was at KIC day with his brother. He's never posted. 40. So much melodrama in this thread. People need to stop taking the bickering so seriously, and start taking the actual topic more seriously. Captain Nemo meant no ill will towards anyone, rather pointing out a percieved problem that he and many others (myself included) wish to be rectified. There is no need to block users or throw around language, especially over silly things like this. You guys are starting to look like an old married couple with your bickering. My advice: instead of creating drama, attempt to contribute logically and thoughtfully to the topic at hand. If someone does something wrong, politely let them know. If they start to get on your nerves, simply scroll past their post. This should be common sense etiquette around here.

  45. O.K, I went to Hall of Fame Grille tonight around 7 (I'm still full). The service was great, food was good and fast, no complaints! If I could change anything I would dump the chips next year and not charge extra for fries, the fries were a lot better than the chips I had on opening day. Maybe ask each table if they want popcorn or peanuts when taking drink orders next year for a more baseball atmosphere? It was nice to sit and watch ESPN while we waited for our food.

  46. Soo... Uh... Kings Island anyone? Let's see if we can get this train back on track. New Ride 2014. Many questions can still be asked: What kind of ride? Coaster? Anyone out there think it will not be a coaster? When will the release be? July? August? What year? 2013? 2014? If coaster, what kind? Made by who? What color will it be? Is there anything in the park that all this construction has made us forget about? Maybe a giant empty tan box in Rivertown? What if all this construction is a slight diversion? Maybe the year 2014 has more in store for us than this so called "Banshee"...
