I will hold back on telling the wife it's the Batwing element, when she already decided it was the 'Pretzel part' when we were there for the announcement. Not wise to argue with a 9 month pregnant woman! Especially when she spent watching 'us' ride while she watched last summer! She is hungry for KI and CP coaster rides this season, she has Gatekeeper and Banshee rolling in the back of her mind! She don't know but were going platinum!10 points

And the fact Bat is there... See...Big Bad Wolf, XLR8, etc. Oh, you can't. The Bat is a decision. A commitment. And something that makes me very happy about Cedar Fair. For that matter, see Two Face...same story.8 points

I agree completely! I didn't know what to think about the company taking over at first, adding new rides and attractions that everyone wanted is one thing, but maintaining public appeal by considering historical elements is another completely. I don't mind a business considering bottom line (which is always necessary), but every business has the opportunity to consider what is best for their customers and I believe Cedar Fair does a good job balancing the two. On a side note, it's interesting to see how public interest has exploded with attraction announcements. Most of the announcements up until to Diamondback were like corporate meetings that the public was invited to...then Banshee comes along and it's like a full blown rock concert! I see nothing but a promising future for this park!7 points

Saw this photo of the KI skyline today on CP Rundown's Facebook page...... (Photo Courtesy of CP Rundown) I'm guessing that the photo was taken today, but I'm not completely sure....7 points

Almost everything you can see in that photo can be attributed to Cedar Fair. The Winds Of Change Are Blowing. (and the big absence too!)6 points

B&M flyers are nice in terms of overall satisfaction. I don't understand the general discomfort people feel from Vekoma Dutchmans, I actually think they're cozy. The rides themselves aren't smooth yes, but restraint wise I have no problems. Be happy we don't have a Zamperla...Look at TR:TR @ CW, or now it's know as Time Zone or something...That ride just, it's bad..6 points

And out of that large crowd I saw many applicants that I sincerely hope they do not hire. There were some being obnoxiously loud and believe it or not there were some that insisted they needed a seat while waiting in line for a nametag which took probably less than 5 minutes. I found it halarious that these people were asking to be hired for a job that would require them to stand on their feet for many hours and be in potentially 95 degree heat. I sure hope the people in charge were paying attention to what was going on because that sure caught my eye. Some of the departments were writing names down so they could pull up potential hires applications but others such as ride operations had a slightly larger crowd that would go in and out so he spoke most of the time and did not write names, although he said mine multiple times and talked to me for a minute. Once again really hope they saw who was acting professional and who seemed lazy because I would be upset if one sitting on a bench got hired over me, but I guess only time will tell. Wish me luck!6 points

Ooh they should put in a food cart that sells orange and black iced bat shaped sugar cookies and blue and red iced batwing shaped sugar cookies (cookies shaped like the wing of a bat, not like the roller coaster layout lol) I think that would be really awesome and I would totally buy them even if it was $5 a cookie lol6 points

Apart from the pretzel loop, there is nothing about the Supermen that I like. At least Firehawk is a little more comfortable and actually has some variety in the layout. I have fun when I ride Firehawk, but I just find myself waiting for the ride to end on Superman.5 points

Photo #4 - night of fire (4th of july fireworks) - Crazy to think the park would close major attractions and keep them closed.5 points

I've ridden both Superman (at SFGAmerica) and Firehawk and I'd have say that I like Firehawk more, only because I've ridden it the most (it's been about 5-6 years since I rode Superman that one time) and lately it's been a really fun ride.4 points

...or Busch Gardens Williamsburg's. I'm willing to give the new culinary chef a try. I could have sworn Cedar Fair hired one earlier for KI. Probably s/he left after Dick lectured "People gotta eat...now take some more nickels of cost out...they'll never notice! <evil laugh>"4 points

There was nothing I didn't like about Manta. It is the opposite for Firehawk.4 points

not really a flyer fan, given the fact that they are uncomfortable, but at least with vekoma I'm on my back for the chain hill lift, its not as uncomfortable then. unless the sun is in your eyes.4 points

Yes, that is certainly true. I still think that the cost of a Gravity Group coaster (along with the necessary inspections and flood proofing requirements) would be more than paid off with the influx of visitors. Not just walk up admissions, but with season pass sales and group sales. It would give people a reason to go to Coney other than just for the big pool. Because right now, that is the big draw at Coney. The rides are just part of the "package" and not the attraction that draws most people to the park. Yes, there are some people that come to Coney just for the rides. But those are typically people wanting a cheap day/afternoon worth of entertainment. A regular all day rides pass costs just $11.95 at Coney. Which is a bargain compared to places like Kings Island, that charge close to $35-40 per person, if you buy online.3 points

I've been on several...hoping for each to be better than the last I rode....well...that makes me an idiot! Lol! I will say the one at Coney Island in NYC isn't all that bad (disclaimer, I may or may not have been exhausted so everything at that point hurt so all pain felt like the normal lol).3 points

Maybe you are speaking of the new colors but most of what I see Paramount actually installed. The only thing Cedar Fair installed was Banshee, but if you are counting new paint I'll give it to ya3 points

But to be fair, the Zoom Flume stood at Coney from 1977 through the 2008 season. Its support structure was very reminiscent of a wooden roller coaster. Not saying it can`t be done. Its just the attractions that Coney has added of late, seem a little lacking on the attention grabbing factor. In other news, I have heard that the park is sprucing up quite a bit of the landscaping this year too.3 points

2013 best events that year: Going to Cedar Point for the first time in years. My kids had never been and they enjoyed all the different coasters. Gatekeeper was my favorite , but my kids loved Maverick more. And they really enjoyed driving the antique cars. Thinking KI should invest some interest getting something of a car ride for families. 2013 was an exciting time with the announcement of Banshee and The Bat and the 24 million dollar investment being made at the park. 2014 is going to be a great year at KI. But the best for 2013 was making some new friends and having a great time enjoying KI with new friends. Cheers 2013, and looking forward to 2014 and beyond. Sent from my iPhone using Taptalk3 points

If you want to see a small scale test of "older" music being implemented in the park look no further that The Racer's station music. The music being played in the station ranges from the mid 50's to the mid 80's and has had major popularity across all age groups. It's really impressive to see people who rode The Racer in 72' all the way to people who will ride it for the first time all sing along to "I Love Rock and Roll" as the wait in line. Also keep in mind that Teenagers may be a target audience but that does not mean that they spent the most money. Teens have a season pass their parents bought them and don't spend much beyond that. Young families spend the most money because they usually are on a one-time visit so they in turn play the games, eat the food and buy the souvenirs.3 points

Wait..what? Sorry for getting off topic, but, Cartoon Network shows are 1,000x weirder than Nick shows... Adventure Time, while funny, is weird, Regular Show is weird, don't even get me started on Uncle Grandpa... If I saw Uncle Grandpa walking around Kings Island I would freak out. Well, isn't that a Boomerang? I'm glad people care for the dry park, no posts here on my favorite place. I'd like one Boomerang Bay please, with new paint, and a new slide complex where the existing wave pool is, 3 slides, a drop box, a Tornado 24, and a TornadoWAVE. Oh, and don't forget my Eagles, Ghoster Coaster, Phantom Theater, and don't forget the Antiques. I may want a purchase of the Cartoon Network "Hannah Barberra" cartoons, from the proper liscense distributor. Lastly, keep the monkeys far away from Kings Island, no one needs that monkey business.3 points

I searched for a similar topic and didn't see anything so hopefully this hasn't been done before. Do you prefer Vekoma flyers like Firehawk or do you prefer B&M flyers? I actually prefer Firehawk over Superman since I hate that intense pressure in my chest during the pretzel loop of B&Ms. Even though Firehawk does something similar with its vertical loop, the forces aren't as intense and it's really fun. Plus I like how you feel like you're going to fall out of Firehawk--it adds to the excitement of the ride. I also love the flip at the top of the lift hill. It's a cool surprise and suddenly you find yourself flying toward the ground. I've never been on a B&M flyer besides the Superman ones and I've heard Tatsu is awesome. But as of now, Firehawk wins this poll for me.2 points

There's nothing quite as bad as the Zamperla flyers... I've had the misfortune of riding the one at Elitch Gardens (very creatively named "The Flying Coaster") and the one at Canada's Wonderland... both were absolutely awful.2 points

I've only ridden Firehawk and Manta. I found Manta to be far more comfortable and fun than Firehawk.2 points

Adventuredome can be added to my list. Everyone knows I'll spend most of the leisure time in Vegas at the Mirage, though I want to try that new coaster once (if its open) and I do love Canyon Blaster anyway. I still have yet to go up the Stratosphere...2 points

How about mainstream music instrumentals in the style of the themed area?2 points
-
I would like each area of the park to receive thematically appropriate background music. There were a couple of times last season when I was walking through International Street listening to Taylor Swift's "Trouble" over the speakers. Great song, but it doesn't fit well with the European theming.2 points

This picture is hot in 2 ways...The temperature that day was in the mid to upper 90s, and these turkey legs were scorching on that grill. But I didn't mind--it was my first trip to KI and the turkey legs were delicious!2 points

I'm surprised not much progress (visible progress) was made today, considering that there won't be much time for progress due to the incoming winter storm Ion.2 points

Was King Cobra the stand-up coaster? I remember seeing that on a Kings Island T.V. special once and was disappointed it wasn't there during my first visit, looked fun. King Cobra was a great ride. I did not like the restraints though. The Mantis as Cedar Point is another one that I like the ride, but really don't care for the restraints. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I like this topic since it reminds me of summer, a time that you'll never hear me complain about the temperature. I used to prefer the cold but as I age and my body gets mileage on it, I feel much more soreness and discomfort when it's cold out.2 points

When I worked at the park in the final season under the Six Flags era The park was busy (or what I thought was busy) on Saturdays and was not busy on weekdays. On one Saturday there was a free concert for Toby Mac. The park had at least 15,000 guest inside the park that day. Usually during that time the park held 5,000-10,000 guest on Saturdays. The park was so crowded that day the lifeguards had to push forward the pool divider in the wave pool. I've never seen lines so long at the Kingdom. I remembered working alone in this shack rushing, panicking as I worked alone. Supervisors and management preached on how that was a normal day under the Ed Hart era. Several of my co-workers had walked out on the job. I am not sure how many other workers walked out on that day. For any jobs, first days are usually the hardest. So I wonder how many will be strong enough to make it through the first day.2 points

Right...I'm such a Debbie Downer I visited the park 33 times in 1998. I was THE first public rider for Thunder Run. I was the second visitor to enter the park the day the park was Flagged. Wrong answer, try again.2 points
