  2. As some performance issues have arisen on the current hosting company we are with now. We have decided to move on to a new webhost. For those that remember the last time we went through this, the name servers changing took some time (instantly to 48 hours) to propagate and some posts were lost. I apologize for this inconvenience and will be doing the changes as late as possible in the night to minimize disruption. Happy Offseason, Dane

  6. Will it be playing Banshee Screams Or Taylor Swifts "I knew you were trouble when you walked in"? A Banshee scream and Taylor Swift are pretty much interchangeable. Although the Banshee is more attractive.

  8. Wow... I had to restrain myself from replying to one woman. First she said, "I have it on a very reliable source that it is complete. Not sure if this is an older in process pic, or if maybe they had to remove some parts just to get through this Arctic blast but it is completed! Woo Hoo!" Someone replied to her that it's not done yet and to check out the live webcam, to which she responded, "Those cams aren't reliable, and I know the one who told me is, but I will also ask a worker who has been onsite on this since day one to confirm." I almost replied with "So a LIVE webcam isn't reliable? A camera that shows you pictures of the coaster as it looks right at this moment? Wow... And why would they need to 'remove some parts just to get through this Arctic blast?'," but I didn't want to start an argument with someone who is completely ignorant of coaster constuction. Not that I'm all that knowledgeable on the subject myself, but at least I have some knowledge, plus enough sense to know that a live camera is more than likely showing me the truth. Seeing is believing, as they say. People like this make me wonder if they took aspirin as a child when they had a fever?

  14. ...and an Opera. I never said I believed Mr. Lindner. Quite the opposite, actually. Phantom of the Opera was hugely popular back then. Raiders of the Lost Ark was hugely popular back then. There was a park to run or sell....

  18. Perhaps its like putting together 'cheap' funiture with the A pieces, the B shelves and the C uprights. Maybe they lost 3 little, silver peg supports when they were only given 2 extra. Again, they could have the furniture together when their wife realizes that the C upright is in backwards. I'm certain its exactly like that.

  19. Is Coaster Crew one of those approved? The list has not been announced yet. Except GOCC. They mentioned on their Facebook page that members will be invited. I do hope the April 17th date sticks around. It works out beautifully with my school schedule.

  28. It's hard to believe how close they are to completing track installation. I'm actually kind of dreading it because it's going to drive me nuts seeing a full circuit coaster there on the web cam and not being able to ride it.

  32. A TTL of ten minutes seems to have propagated, so downtime after the change should be minimal this time as long as the original authoritative DNS servers (dns.site5.com and dns2.site5.com) are updated. If those servers change, and the old ones can't be updated with the record for the new server, the downtime could again be as high as 48 hours for some people.

  33. But Kings Island doesn't enforce it like Disney does. Trust me Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk We former Disney CMs surely remember that the 'Disney Way' of pointing requires the use of the fore and middle fingers. In some cultures, pointing with one finger is considered rude and offensive. If you want a MK tunnel tour, you can pay about $150 for one through Disney. Trust me when I say there's nothing worth seeing there that justifies the cost. Locker rooms, the cafeteria, the underground trash system, a costume staging area and the Ops center for the park.

  38. I had a dream last night that I got to ride the Banshee. The dreams starts off by being right next to Banshee then waiting in line back by some service road. Little did I know, that we were going in the exit for some reason and we got to ride it before everyone in the 3 1/2 hrs line. So ounce we got on it the ride op was all pumped up screaming "You ready to ride?!" We yelled Yea! We are then launched up a spiraling hill but just barely fast enough to make it though. then we go through is weird double loop thing but we were going so slow that some wheels in the middle of the track had to help us move. the ride was very boring and not intense at all. almost all reviews were 1 star saying how boring it was. I would of compared it to The Great Pumpkin coaster with loops and much longer. I'm thinking this ride is gonna be pretty fun in real life! In my dream the ride probably never got above 30 mph.

  39. my brother was working on a degree for culinary down in Orlando, so during that time, he worked as a chef inside Cinderella's castle. He also got to see the tunnels and he said it's nothing cool but it's amazing how they do stuff like that. Also here is some fun little facts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og3ugAs64L4

  41. Agreed! I scratch my head when I think about it's recent repainting....why wasn't it painted this color back then? What made this time different? Banshee. It's going to go right by The Bat so why not give the old ride a nice spiffy makeover? I'm also still hoping for a dark theme sub-section not sure how Skyflyer would fit in a dark theme sub-section without being renamed though.

  44. To answer the original question: I eat at the park a lot during the summer. The KI-owned restaurants are hit or miss when it comes to service and quality. I'm not one to complain or anything, but if I'm paying 130% of what I should be paying for this stuff then I expect excellence every time. It's kind of like when you stay in a 5 star hotel. You rightfully assume that it's going to be cleaned and stocked before you get there. It's not 110% guatenteed, but it's a safe assumption. Kings Island has taken many steps in the right direction with the foods department. It's run by great people. However, it still doesn't offer the consistence that the outside chains - with non park employees - offers.

  48. I don't believe the line will be nearly as long this time around. Diamondback was the first big-time ride Kings Island received since Son of Beast. Nine long years between "blockbuster" attractions (no Paramount pun intended!). The collective sense that Kings Island was finally installing a people-moving headline attraction after years of mostly low-capacity installs. It was also (and still is) the tallest and fastest coaster Kings Island has installed. I really don't think that the importance of Diamondback's height can be overstated as far as the buzz it created on its opening day. Diamondback checked a ton of the "what Kings Island really needs" boxes and re-established Kings Island as a destination park. The other thing to consider is that the weather on Diamondback's opening day was nearly perfect. It was a bit cool early in the morning but the sun was out in full measure. If we have weather similar to Diamondback's opening day it's possible that we get a similar crowd, but to me Diamondback's opening day was the perfect storm. The best thing about Banshee is that it's a B&M. Opening day lines will be what they will be, but it's infinitely more important to have a coaster that is reliable and has high throughput ALL the time. It's going to be so nice to have another re-rideable coaster that has fast-moving lines! In terms of enthusiasm amongst those who check roller coasters instead of academic courses off their list of credits, people have been clamoring for an inverted coaster to stake its claim on the Island for Kings for the better part of two decades. If the collective train of thought involving a new coaster install wasn't, "Hey, when do you suppose we'll get a ride that takes us 200 feet in the air and then sends us through more humps than a parade of camels in a Bollywood dance number?", then it might have instead been, "Hey, when do you suppose we'll get a ride that takes us 200 feet in the air and then sends us through said Bollywood camelback humps, but this time with our legs dangling freely and precariously above the ground?" I wasn't there in person for the Banshee announcement, but I was in attendance for the Diamondback announcement, and I can comfortably say there were more people anxiously awaiting and even cheering on Banshee than they were for DB. Granted, Rattlesnake came about at a time when the park hadn't even thought of using the rapidly rising social media empire as a means to get hold of the younger generation, and even then their newly created Facebook page wasn't without its kinks (outdated snack nuts and extinct reptilian monstrosities be darned according to the young/old "thrill seekers"), so I think Banshee has the upper hand in the marketing wars. I just think Banshee may have an even longer line than what The Serpentine Sidewinder had its opening day. At least now Sonny's old extended queue might get some action again with the eventual overflow. Nah, there were tons of people at the DB announcement too. I liked the Banshee announcement better because it was done theatrically under the cloak of the night but Diamondback still drew a crazy crowd.

  49. On the topic of food trucks, KI had a food truck set up this past season in the waterpark near Breaker's Bay that sold ice cream and pizza. I also remember seeing a LaRosa's food truck one year in the food/vendor area at SpiritSong.
