  1. I have a lot of pics so I started a new thread. This will take some time to do all the report because a lot happened in the span of four days. Katie and I left around 12:15 on Thursday, June 5 to head to Cedar Point. The trip was pretty uneventful in part to Rick (NoChicken) warned us of police presence along a stretch of the trip. We arrived around 4:45 to the hotel. Thank you Dee (MrsNoChicken) and Rick for letting us stay with you even though it was Rick's birthday. We headed to the park to process our Platinum Passes that we were finally able to upgrade. This was the fastest, most pain free processing I have ever experienced in my life. I think we walked in and out within 5 minutes. (We had paid online.) This was our second trip to Cedar Point and Dee and Rick's first trip. Thank you Zach for leading us around. We ran into Scott almost immediately (IBEWSparky). I tried to keep track of the rides and the order, however, aside from the kiddie coasters, the only coaster I did not get to ride was TTD. so bummed. I will say I love Millie. I rode in row one Friday morning and loved it. Thursday night I rode towards the back and was not disappointed. More to come for CoasterMania after I get home from work tonight. 3. I suppose the important thing is, this "participant" was stopped and now has to live with themselves as well as the reputation they have garnered for them self. To everyone else: great job! You did a great thing that day and had a lot if fun in the process!

  5. PKIVortex, they were not referring to you. Plenty of people know that you were supposed to be at CP and that you were wearing last year's shirts because they didn't have the purple ones for you Sunday morning. Thanks for going through with the event at KI, and have fun doing it again at CP!

  9. You know what stopped them before having lockers with codes? When they just had one key to get into it for the customer. Then you don't have to worry about someone seeing your code and stealing your stuff.

  12. I love doing Coasting for Kids every year, it's really fun and the money goes to a great cause. This was my third year participating in the event and it feels awesome knowing that while I'm having fun at Kings Island, I'm helping to make a kid's dream come true. I really wasn't feeling that great yesterday so I didn't ride Diamondback and The Racer as much as everyone else, but I still had a really good time hanging out at the park with my KIC friends and family. It's just kinda depressing to know that someone from KIC would try to get the same benefits as the ones that raised the money in the 2014 event. It's one thing to wear the 2013 shirt and show that you have participated in the past, it's another to try and use it to your advantage for the next year without participating. KIC already has a bit of a bad reputation with the park and that makes me sad because I love being a part of such a great website, but then there are the ones who spoil it for everyone else. I really enjoy it being a free community to be a part of, but I also don't. A lot of people that wouldn't pay for a membership are the ones who just like to be troublemakers and ruin everyone else's fun.I don't know who did it, but I really don't care who it was. I just hope whoever did this realizes what a mistake they made and doesn't try to do anything like it again. I also hope that it may keep others from making the same mistake.

  18. So fanofFirehawk arrived at the park about 10-15 minutes before opening. By the time we were at the gate, it was about five minutes till rope drop. The first ride we went on was Banshee, and all I can say is, "WOW!" I honestly liked everything about this ride. Other than the restraints. The vest pushed into my collar bone. I could feel the restraint getting tighter at the bottom of the drop. Now, onto the actual ride experience. To start this off, I really liked the queue. I really liked the theming and the graves (especially the O'terpy one! ) and I thought that they were a nice touch. The station was nice, not exactly something special. We were assigned to row 5. I really liked that first drop, I enjoyed that twist. The dive loop is cool, it provides a nice view of Action Zone. The loop isn't anything special, but it was cool how it went around the lift hill. My favorite part of the ride was the zero-g roll. I really liked that drop down into the valley. My second favorite element of Banshee was the inline twist. (Incase you can't tell, I like twists ) The ride crews were doing quite nice today, usually it was one in the station, one on the lift, and one on the brake run. Favorite part! If only I had pressed the camera button quicker… Honestly, I'll have to ride Banshee some more before I can give it a rating… maybe ride it in some other rows! If only we hadn't been assigned to Row 5 both times... Cliché picture! After Banshee we rode Diamondback. Great ride as usual, rode it on the inside seats on the second to last car. After Diamondback we rode KI&MVRR. Fine ride, provides great views of Diamondback. What a view! After Diamondback, we rode Congo. Not too wet in the back row in the splash, but the fountains got us soaked. Then we headed over to WindSeeker. First time on that ride, quite fun. I really enjoyed the view. However, it did make my nice wet feet from Congo Falls even colder . Then, we headed out into the parking lot for lunch. After lunch, we rode Boo Blasters on Boo Hill and got a score of 800 something. My sister claims to have gotten 1,600 but I don't believe her . Then, we rode WindSeeker again and then Banshee one more time. We were assigned to row 5 again. After Banshee, we rode Delirium. Better ride than I remember it being. We then headed over towards X-Base and rode Firehawk. Fun ride, enjoyed it. After Firehawk we headed over to Diamondback for our final ride of the day. Good ride as usual, we rode it on the inside seats in the back car. Nice airtime! Banshee x2 Diamondback x2 WindSeeker x2 Firehawk x1 Congo Falls x1 KI&MVRR x1 Boo Blaster on Boo Hill x1 Delirium x1 Hope you enjoyed the PTR! Thanks for reading!

  19. I rode it yesterday after hearing it got fixed and it was awesome as usual! I will say, however, that seeing Banshee from DT's queue is going to take some getting used to as either Son of Beast or blue skies (after SOB was removed/during Banshee's construction) are the views that I've been accustomed to seeing in the past.

  26. What a moral/ethical dilemma that has surfaced! I wasn't present at such event/situation so I cannot speak to what happened. Is it a case of someone simply not getting a shirt; someone that came down from CP; not having a shirt their size, etc. but had met such requirements set forth to participate and most on here are not aware requirement was met, or was it indeed truly someone that failed to meet the requirements and tried to sneak their way into such event. If it were the latter, was such person escorted away from event and/or park or was nothing done? Now, because the person hasn't been named, folks like jcgoble3, PKIVortex, and others are wondering if someone thinks it was/were them. And worse, maybe now someone that didn't know incident occurred remembers seeing someone with the shirt from last year and assumes incorrectly that person is it, thus eroding reputation of such innocent person. Does the accused individual know that they are being "called out" and is it accurate? Since this forum could loosely be considered "media" (people do get info about park from this site and members get to attend media day after all), should the individual accused of such infraction be named - unless a minor, unless being tried as an adult? Do admins ban such individual from forum? Is this the final blow that either brings the site down or causes it to be a "paid" membership? Lots of questions, many that will go unanswered for some time.

I hope your not talking about my Partner and I, we had last years shirt on, but we were suppose to take part of the event at Cedar Point and were allowed to take part at Kings Island on Sunday, we didn't have this years shirt till later after lunch. I raised $465 while he raised $500. However we do get to take part at the Rescheduled event at Cedar Point on June 22nd.

  32. Could maybe help, but if someone walks up to the keypad, enters the correct code, opens a locker, and leaves with its contents, why would an employee being there stop them? How would an employee have any indication that the person getting into the locker is or is not the original owner?

  33. Arrived at the park around 7:30 after leaving home at 6 to about a 20-30 minute line for registration. Unfortunately by that time the Jet Express cruise tickets were gone, but I still knew the day would be great. It was my first Coastermania (and my mom's who I had brought along as my guest) and I couldn't wait. The lanyard was a nice surprise and it had the day's itinerary. I was thinking that the giveaway would be given out during this time but I was wrong (more on that later). Also sometime during the day I wanted to meet up with someone who I've never met in person but we've talked and have found out we have a lot in common, Rcoaster10. This was also his first time at Coastermania. We went straight to Millennium to start off the day, and we were surprised to see that it had a half hour wait. For ERT I was expecting maybe 15 minutes, but 30 minutes still isn't too bad. Rode in the front seat and loved it. It was a great way to start the morning and to wake up (I'm not a morning person at all, but for an event like this I'd wake up as early as necessary). We got back in line and after texting with Rcoaster10, realized that we were both in line. I told him I was wearing a red Ohio State hoodie and soon after we saw each other in line and said hi. We could only stop briefly so we planned on meeting up after the ride. This time we rode in the back and loved it just as much. The front and back are so different but are both awesome. However, I hate the rattle that the back half of this ride has, while the front is glass smooth. After riding there was a family group that asked for their picture to be taken in front of the CP&LE Railroad station, so I happily did so. Right after I finally got to meet up with Rcoaster10 and his grandpa. It was great to finally be able to meet up person, and we ended up spending the rest of the day together. All 4 of us headed to Blue Streak where I had the smoothest ride I've ever had on that coaster. As long as you don't ride on a wheel seat, this ride is amazing. I love it so much. We headed toward Giant Wheel since there was supposed to be a Coaster Crew group picture at 10 am, but nobody was there. Oh, well. Wicked Twister next. As we crossed the main midway, we smiled at the barricade of the GP, only to be returned with a mix of hilarious confused faces and jealous glares. WT provided a nice punch as always. It was starting to get pretty warm so we all went back to our cars to drop off our hoodies and jackets. Once back inside the park we went on both Power Tower drop and launch. I love the airtime at the top of the tower on the launch side but I will never get tired of the drop side. And that tiny drop as it clicks into position at the top always gets me. This was followed by a fun yet painful ride on Magnum's ejector seat, and a ride on Sky Ride to take us to the front of the park. We all had the noon lunch time slot and were shocked to find the line wrapping all the way from the pavilion to the main gate and starting to come back along itself. But once lunch officially started the line moved pretty quickly. I was very impressed with lunch, and the park went above and beyond what any of us expected. There were chips with I think a crab salsa, steamed citrus mussels, wings, ribs, brats, and more. Plus there were lots of Coke fountain drinks, and Blue Streak cookies and cupcakes. There was also a Blue Streak ice sculpture honoring it for its 50th anniversary which was really cool. Now let's get to the giveaway--I would be happy with anything. Heck, I even would have loved to have just received the lanyard. But the park was far too generous and gave us an entire box of souvenirs. The top of the box said "Coastermania Survival Kit" and we got to pick our size. Included was an amazing Coastermania jacket, 2014 Cedar Point shirt, fun sunglasses, a glasses strap, and a glass cup. This was a very nice surprise receiving all of this, so the park deserves a HUGE thank you not only for the lunch, but for the giveaways and just for the entire event. Tony announced that since Dragster would remain down for the day, Millennium Force would replace it during the night ERT. Following the delicious lunch, we took our boxes back to our cars. Next was Mine Ride, Skyhawk, and the smoothest ride I've ever had on Mean Streak. We chose to skip Maverick due to its long line, knowing we'd get to on it a lot during the night ERT. Rcoaster10 and I raced my mom and his grandpa on Gemini, and the 2 of us won on the red train. This was followed by another ride on Magnum, Power Tower drop, and then a ride in the front row on Raptor. Then we rode Gatekeeper in the back left for a pretty bumpy ride. I miss how consistently smooth all older B&Ms are. It seems like most of their newer coasters are bumpier. Not necessary rough, but just with an annoying rattle/bumpiness to them. Another ride on each Blue Streak and Millennium was next, and then we rode Iron Dragon in the back. I have never been on this coaster in the very back before and it surprised me. I wouldn't call it intense, but it was more thrilling that I thought it would be. Then we rode Power Tower drop again before getting a chicken finger basket at Dragon's Inn. It was nice to just sit in the shade for a little while. After dinner Rcoaster10 and I rode Millennium in the front seat. While in the station, a train stopped on the lift and a ride op confirmed to us when we mentioned it that it indeed was a "passenger error," either a seatbelt issue or someone with a phone or camera. But it was a very short delay and we were on the ride soon. We had planned on buying this on-ride photo so Rcoaster10 and I agreed that we would each make a crazy, funny face for the camera. It turned out so hilarious and we each bought the picture. By this point it was around sunset and we decided to head back to our cars to put on our new Coastermania jackets so we'd be good to go for the rest of the night. We noticed thousands and thousands of muffleheads swarming above our car and above all the trees. There were massive clouds of them. It was crazy! Upon reentering the park (yet again), Rcoaster10 and I rode Raptor in the back. Surprisingly it was the first time either of us had been on this coaster in the back row, and we both loved it. It was so intense, crazy, and disorienting. We wanted to ride Power Tower drop side again and when we were walking back to it, we looked over at Luminosity. It seemed like it's a fun show again this year. I was really excited to ride PT at night since I never have before. It was an incredible view and it was cool looking right down on Luminosity. PT at night is a must. Then for our last normal ride of the night before ERT we chose Magnum, which is fun at night. Right after this, we went back to Maverick and got in the line that was quickly forming outside its entrance. We just sat down on the concrete since our feet and legs hurt, but it was all worth it. Before we knew it, the ride opened and we were among the first on it for ERT. We rode in the front and immediately thought we would regret it since the restraints were completely covered in muffleheads. It was disgusting. But the ride itself actually wasn't that bad and really wasn't too buggy, surprisingly. We also rode in the back and middle. In total, we rode Maverick 6 times in a row and it was so awesome. Next we went to Millennium to finish off the night. The line was so much shorter than the morning ERT so we figured a decent amount of Coastermania people must have left. We ended up riding 3 times, and for our last ride, Rcoaster10 and I rode in the front. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day. None of us wanted the day to end since it was incredible. In total I got on 34 rides (including rerides), which is something I have never even come close to doing before. My feet were absolutely killing me but I'd had the most fun I ever have at the park. Plus it was great to finally meet Rcoaster10 and I got to spend the day riding with him and his grandpa. My mom really loved the day too. Already I'm looking forward to going to Coastermania next year! Thanks again to the park for putting on such an amazing event! A few pictures from the day: My mom and I waiting in line for registration: Rcoaster10 and me: All of the awesome giveaways inside the Coastermania Survival Kit: The Blue Streak ice sculpture: A cool shot:

  35. Amazing Disney is what it is today after all the years with Eisner at the helm. The 90's through his end with the company was nothing more than the company trying to make a money grab off the Disney name with no real thought or effort in to their products. Look at the parks and additions during that time, many are listed in the article listed. No wonder Iger is so cautious about in park development.

  36. I loved the clock/time running out theme. The line always made me nervous because of the ticking clocks. I am surprised more of these didn't pop up, then again I think this ride would have been more popular today with families being the key demographic and not thrill seekers.

  42. I got my first ever ride this morning during ERT. As I was sitting at the top of the tower with my heart beating out of my chest, I realized I not only hadn't ever ridden it before, I never even watched it run before. So I had absolutely no idea how long it would be before the drop, if there was any sort of warning, or anything. Definitely makes it more terrifying, especially when you are already thinking "I hope the cables they replaced are OK." I really enjoyed it though. I rode it later in the day, and while I don't think it was quite worth an hour wait, it gave me a second favorite thing about the ride: the nearly subsonic sound it makes as it hits the brakes, as heard when you're below it. Otherworldly.

  45. My daughter tried hard to raise money. She felt bad not hitting $200 or more. It was not because she did not try collecting donations. People just did not have money to give right now. I am very thankful that members of this community are hugely responsible for helping Katie reach her goal. She does not actively post here, but many know her. I appreciate the wonderful people for paying to set her account up. Without them, she could not have done this. They aren't looking for praise because they paid for the initial cost, but they are examples of the people on this forum. However, I am sorely disappointed that someone would attempt to do the event without collecting the funds to do so. I am not sure why someone would think it's acceptable to do such a thing. Just knowing the generosity of people on this site, the funds would have been donated to anyone truly trying to reach the minimum for the fundraiser. Additionally, thank you to those of you who kept an eye on my daughter. I know she's 16, but I still appreciate it. She's a bit crazy (I think she's hilarious). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  46. Ok, I wasn't going to post anything; but this has been eating at me since yesterday. I know this may ruffle some feathers, and admins may remove my post. As a continuing member of KIC, I feel this has to be mentioned. I'm not going to name the person, and what happened was confirmed as true. It just sickens me that someone on this forum would attempt to enter the Coasting for Kids event yesterday wearing last year's shirt. Without raising the minimum amount needed to participate. I usually don't like so say anything, but this event means a lot to me, an others who work hard to raise money for this organization. It's just a slap in the faces of us, Cedar Fair, and Give Kids the World. I feel it gives KIC another strike in the eyes of the park. You really need to do a self evaluation, because what you attempted to do was the lowest of the low. I'm done ranting. I know other are also fuming. Admins if you want to remove my post, go ahead. This blatant non respect that has been going on the last couple I years has to stop. I know admins can't really do much to stop it. But, I think if members that really care about this community speak up; this behavior will go away. Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system.
