Trains were being moved back and forth on the transfer track yesterday quite a bit. The park expects major testing to begin today or tomorrow, in order to stay on track for a March 28th Opening Day. Until then..........Here's an early morning fog-shot of Fury 325 (Live Still-Image captured from the Carowinds Fury 325 Live Camera Feed)6 points

Some of you may know that as part of the development of the Banks and Smale Riverfront park in downtown Cincinnati, they are installing a new carousel, with hand carved horses from Carousel Works, located in Mansfield, Ohio. This carousel will feature unique animals. Check out this video from the Cincinnati Park Board with interviews from employees and carvers at Carousel Works discussing the Cincinnati Carousel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS7kleLasfU And to see a video with the local artist doing the paintings for the rounding boards, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHGGN_E7HMI Caroul Ann`s Carousel will open at Smale Riverfront Park on May 16th. If you haven`t checked out the progress on the park so far, I recommend you check it out as it is a very nice park, with lots of unique and fun features.5 points

I'm not so sure those who were hurt by it would be amused. That's not to mention most of those associated with it probably won't want to talk about it at all, particuarly Werner Stengel. That is, unless this serves as a warning about how not to design wooden coasters and how not to cut corners, among other things.4 points

Yeah, I'm more excited about the fries part of the gluten free options at Potato Works, personally. Since I didn't have the dining plan last year, I didn't eat a whole lot of things in the park, but I did get some Rivertown Potato Works fries with cheese and bacon, and they were really good. I usually am more interested in the quality of french fries than entrees when I choose where to eat, so I'm hoping the ones at Coney Potato Works are as good.4 points

Wouldn't being known as a lobbyist be the last thing Kentucky Kingdom wants? I know they rely on the politicians to operate at the moment, but they shouldn't be giving people reasons to hate them. I kind of wanted to go just out of curiosity's sake, but with all the crap they pull in being able to operate in the first place, I just see no desire to give them any support, including giving them my money.3 points

Maybe they could show it at the Kings Island Resort and Conference Center after they remodel it since they're both equally probable of happening.3 points

None. But those who were badly hurt are still around, and at least one has a very good lawyer who would likely pounce.3 points

Seaworld needs to almost go on the offensive similar to McDonalds. 30 second TV spots saying check out "FHFHF.com" to get the real answers. Then its just has the weekly/monthly question being answered through a infotainment video. McDonald's can show you in 3-5 minutes how they make the chicken McNugget, Seaworld can show you in 3-5 minutes the care they give the animals....3 points

While yes, it is true they are not required to be accepting of the noise pollution of a nearby amusement park, they should also be doing their research when purchasing real estate. Such as, when you buy a house close by to the interstate it is unfair to complain about the noise coming from the interstate. Sometimes houses are affordable for a reason, which doing research will usually reveal. Now, as far as the amusement park adding on something that wasn't previously there (such as a fireworks display), that is different and is completely fair of the nearby residents to complain.3 points

I didn't really pay any attention to the games when I was there last year as I was too busy riding stuff and trying not to melt, but that sounds like something they'd do.3 points

Last year, they had a Plinko game in a corner of the Fourth of July section, near The Alamo food stand. One of the slots at the bottom earned you a set of front-of-the-line passes. The catch, IIRC, is that you got two pucks, but had to decide after the first one whether to take that prize or drop the second one. If you dropped the second one, you forfeited the first prize and had to take the second. (That's if my memory is working correctly.)3 points

As a long-time employee of a major U.S. food company, as well as a huge, life-long fan of Kings Island (my fandom is huge, not me) I'd have to say that the picture of the Flyers, with the Flying Ace Aerial Chase in the background, would make an awesome background for a commercial. I'm just sayin'!3 points

From Kings Island's Twitter account: "@KingsIslandPR: Construction of the Coca-Cola Marketplace is underway. Guests will find healthy food options here." https://twitter.com/kingsislandpr/status/572451664910786563 Interesting. I wonder what the healthy options will be and if they'll be included in the dining plans at all.2 points

I've stayed at decent ones too like I said. I suppose "avoid like the plague" isn't entirely accurate. If reviews are good or if I've had a pleasant stay at that location before, I'll give it a shot. Right now though, I'm all for the Motel 6s until one of the newly renovated ones fails to deliver.2 points

Reminds me of the people who live near Alton Towers and complained, forcing them to remove sound effects and cut down on their end of year fireworks. Wonder if they still live nearby.2 points

For my forthcoming KD/BGW trip, I did something many here probably don't like doing. I went with a Motel 6 in Richmond (well, a suburb of Richmond technically). There was a time not long ago that I would avoid that chain like the plague. However, several years back, they started renovating a lot of their hotels. If you look on their website, you'll see that some of their locations are marked as having "Modern rooms". This is a guarantee that within the last several years, the hotel has received a complete renovation (I think the first such location was converted in 2008). The ones with the modern rooms all feature hard flooring, which is a huge plus, because they are far easier to keep clean. I've stayed in the "Modern" Motel 6 locations in Coraopolis, PA for a Kennywood trip and in Palatine, IL for a SFGAm trip and I had no qualms whatsoever with either. I can't personally speak for the one in Richmond (though, I will be able to in one month's time) but I've had good luck so far, provided it is one of the locations with the modern rooms. They never have the best amenities, but I'm the sort who needs nothing more than a clean room with a clean bed that has a roof over it and a hot shower. One member of my group is former military and as such, can get a discount, so we're paying less than $50 a night and splitting it four ways. When/if they ever disappoint, I may reevaluate my stance, but so far, if you want a place on the cheap, I can at least recommend that you consider it as an option and check out the reviews. You can also cancel a reservation up to 5:00 PM the day of the stay, so if you were planning a trip in June, you could, conceivably ask me what my thoughts were after I've stayed there in early April and then cancel if it turns out to not be what you're looking for. Now, Super 8, I still avoid like the plague. I've stayed in decent ones, but I've also stayed in dreadful ones, and there doesn't seem to be any consistent gauge that I can use to judge a particular location's suitability before I drop my money. I'm not going to outright recommend you stay at a specific hotel that I haven't personally stayed at yet, but if you aren't one who cares much about the amenities, don't dismiss it immediately. I'm sure a hotel review will be part of the inevitable trip report. - homestar92, lowering his lodging standards and doing the potential dirty work - so you don't have to!2 points

When the appearance of a mystery bruise on my ankle brings back fond memories of the array of random bruises I had on my legs all summer from the rides.2 points

That reminds me. When I was a kid, it was really cool how the park came alive after dark, with the different lighting packages. Then I didn't really go to the park for over a decade, and new rides were added. This past summer, my first summer back, I usually got to the park at opening and stayed to late afternoon at the latest. After several visits I finally was going to stay late and was really excited to see what my new favorite steel coaster (Diamondback) looked like after dark. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Although the beauty of WindSeeker after dark more than makes up for it. The light saber lift hill is the first thing that's made me really want to go ride Fury325.2 points
