BUMP! I am now at 580 rides on Orion, but that is miniscule compared to a couple regulars I know, including @Vince Overfield who got around 2100 Orion rides this year alone!3 points

Dude there is nothing creepy with what he posted. It literally says on the post under your avatar where you are located at - whether that is accurate or not is another story, but it took ZERO creepy thought or investigation to come up with his comment. It literally is sitting there next to your post for us all to see when we see your post... And it is his business if he lives in the City limits (along with all city taxpayers) if people that don't live in the city and thus don't have money in this fight are trying to save something that results in city tax dollars going to buy and maintain this place.... The first thing elected officials do is have their aides see if any of the comments received are from constituents and if they aren't, they are not looked at further. If you can't vote for them or haven't donated enough cash to be an influence, then your voice don't count. As I said before, this is an exchange of property from one private owner to another private. If this were public property, then it is another story and a likely different outcome. The private property owner has five "Bundles of Rights" which describes the set of legal rights associated with ownership of real property. This “bundle” is made up of five different rights: the right of possession, the right of control, the right of exclusion, the right of enjoyment and the right of disposition. It are these Bundles of Rights that allow them to proceed with this sale and do as they choose as nothing illegal is being done. The elected officials have zero input or say in this. Sure if they have a significant voter base up in arms they will come out with some statement to make the voters feel they are on their side, but unless the government comes up with the cash to buy the property, nothing more will come out of it. In addition, this is too far from the city core for Cincinnati elected officials to be concerned with. Heck unless you live on the East side, most Cincinnatians travel 471 to 275 into Kentucky to get to Coney because it is faster. Most don't realize part of it is even in city limits since it is faster to get to it by going thru another state LOL... If Sunlite pool were in the middle of the West End or Over the Rhine, then we would probably see the elected officials look at taking some of the rail money to buy the property, but this location and history doesn't meet their current criteria. Further, many on city council have relatives that were not allowed to go to Coney until the early 60s, so to them this might not be worthy of being saved....and as someone else early posted, the real history of Coney basically died in the early 70s when the rides moved to KI or were destroyed. In fact a book was written about it saying Goodbye to Coney. The fact that Coney lasted this long after originally being scheduled to shut down when KI was built is just extra years. It's fine if people want to protest and all that, but the fact of the matter is since this is a private property issue and the elected officials core constituents are not participating in the save Coney initiatives, the protests won't change anything. And it is America, so if the protesters come up with enough money to buy the land and keep it as Coney, that is their right and choice as well. But they really don't have a say on what someone does on their private property if they are meeting all applicable laws and regulations due to the legal bundles of rights for owning property. If people had a say on what someone does legally on someone else's property, none of us would have a roof over our head as the property we all live on was once a farm or forest or some other type of land that the surrounding owners would have like to have kept as-is and not turned into a subdivision or apartment complex or condos or whatever.2 points

My reply in here from 2020 still stands. As much as I enjoyed the jazz music, I still dearly miss the orchestral pieces (NOT the pop covers) and hope they return next year! I'm glad some movie soundtracks/orchestral pieces still play on I-Street during Winterfest. "Flight to Neverland" from "Hook" fits I-Street's atmosphere so well, and hearing it the last couple Winterfests was an absolute treat!2 points

Resurrecting this thread in hope that jazz music does NOT return to International Street in 2024 and that we get actual classical pieces back!2 points

Most of that is the difference between Diamondback allowing loose articles and the associated slow down in stowing those in the bins versus no loose articles of Orion.1 point

I was fine with the jazz for the 50th year as the whole point of that season was celebrating the milestone and celebratory jazz fit with that. However, I was not a fan that they kept it this season and I would've preferred them to go back to the classical pieces. Now, I would take the jazz over what played on I street during the early CF days with the actual pop music.1 point

Yeah, and my AIM screen name from 2008 was on my profile until not that long ago. Doesn’t mean that it was up to date. Get a life and quit being a creep. You don’t know where I live and it wouldn’t be any of your business anyway.1 point

So keeping the holiday spirits up, and already have visited other Holiday events, also being that my schedule allowed I taken an impromptu trip to Carowinds. The drive down, was quiet congested with holiday travelers I assume making there way home on i77. Typically the turnpike for me is faster, but because of traffic the tolls were backed up, and this inadvertently caused me to arrive at Carowinds an hour late. As I entered the park, the first order of business was Dinner. Because of my previous experience I had this summer at the park I chose to eat at Harmony Hall, which is a smaller version of KI’s Fest Haus. One thing I noticed was how the menu was trimmed down. The BBQ restaurant from my previous visit had a variety of proteins. Now only 3 options. Not sure if that’s because of Winterfest or if that’s to be a future trend. I got the carved turkey breast mac & cheese, corn bread and gravy. The food what was to be expected, the turkey was especially moist and tender. After eating I made my way to outside to digest some of this food, and take in the scenery around me. The park was busy, with lines for Fury325 and Copperhead strike being over an hour long. Carowinds uses its Wind seeker for its Tower Christmas Tree. In my opinion it didnt look as great as KD’s or KI’s decorated Eifle Towers. However their Sky Tower ride was open and taking guest up 262ft to give you a panoramic view of the decorated park from above. I did not get to ride this unfortunately due to time constraints. For time I had available I mainly used it for riding their coasters. First ride / coaster of the night was Fury 325. Incredible ride, definitely worthy of number 1 spot in the golden ticket awards. Afterwards I rode Copperhead strike. One thing I noticed was both coasters were operating with 2 trains. This and the crowd level caused longer lines than normal, however Kings Island only operates 1 train for Flight of Cheer. I did not get to ride Mountain Gliders, due to an unruly guest in line which ultimately stopped the ride from operating and security had to be called. I could have waited, but based off time left for the park being opened I got out of line and made my way back to Fury. Doing so paid off big time. The line was much shorter, and after getting off the ride for whatever reason the Ride associate didn’t close the line at 10pm. So I got back in line at 10:04pm. As the train returned to the station to what was seemly the last ride of the night, everyone was chanting: “One more ride!” and to my surprise the Ride Ops granted our wish. I finished my night at Carowinds with 1 Ride on Copperhead strike and 4 rides on Fury325. The following day I took a quick detour to Sevierville to visit the world’s largest knife store, Smokey Mountain Knife works. For lunch I stopped at Buc-ee’s. Once back in the Cincinnati Area, I stopped at KI for Dinner and a couple rides on Mystic. I had a lot of fun during my short stay in Carowinds, to wrap up my travel plans for the 2023 season, cant wait to return there again in 2024!1 point

It would be interesting to see how many of the people expressing negative sentiment about Coney Island's closure on social media visited Coney Island over the past 10 years. Everyone came out of the woodwork when it was announced Cincinnati Gardens had been sold and would be torn down, and it's the same story with Coney Island.1 point

Thought I would come up from under my rock to give my opinion on this news. I don't think this will be terrible. The fact that Cedar Fair has the most ownership and power in this merger is enough for me to be satisfied. I'm honestly just glad that Kings Island won't turn into Six Flags Kings Island.1 point
