The front half of the park will obviously undergo an overhaul and retheme over the next two years. For 2026, there's not only the new Flying Fox coaster, but the restaurant (Casa Mia) at the front of the park is getting a massive overhaul. For 2027, the current 4D theater will be repurposed as an indoor coaster/dark ride that I've heard has yet to be chosen. The area around it will no doubt be overhauled - ala what they did with Discovery Cove. There's also a floating rumor that the giant swing ride (Skycatcher) may be relocated to the front half of the park. I'm sure the focus will then turn to the back half of the park for 2028 and beyond. I have also heard that the park has been eyeing what to do with the rogue/poor placement of Kentucky Flyer. This is due to the fact that its often "missed" by guests who don't know how to find it, or even know its there. If the rumor of moving Sky Catcher to the front of the park holds true, that will leave it as the only dry ride in that back side of the park. It would also be the only attraction negating waterpark expansion into that land area. It will be interesting to see its eventual fate. Finally, the Fairground's West Wing and West Wing Pavilion - adjacent to the park's entrance - are being demolished in the coming year or two. New wings are being built to replace them. That will affect the entire lot directly in front of the main entrance and will likely prompt a major overhaul to KK's entry plaza. BTW - I was at the fairground this week and got to see the Flying Fox construction site up close. Probably only about 1/4 of the footers are poured. The station foundation is present, Once the park closes their Holiday event this week, I'm sure they will begin tearing up the midway for the underground tunnel. There's lots of prep work still left, so I'm sure it will be a month or two before any sort of track arrival/vertical construction will begin.3 points

IMO this edition of Winterfest was the best yet. It had the most lights, a solid ride lineup, plenty of live entertainment. snowy nights, and (surprising) no major cutbacks to the event despite what is going on elsewhere in the company. The only things that have been lost over the years for this event are 4 Drummers, Holly Jolly Trolley, the music-synchorinzed lights, and upcharge carriage rides. (Cool Yule and Charlie Brown's Spectacular were replaced) While coasters have been added since the 2017 edition where only Mystic Timbers operated. This is probably the most creative of all the theme park Christmas events, with the roaming characters, holiday activities and re-branding just about every shop and restaurant in the park. The weather was the coldest it has been in a while, and it seems to have affected the crowds this year. There were only 6 "warm" days with high attendance. Is that enough for survival of the event? The park did a great job operating on the colder days with low attendance. They reduced operations on those days but kept the park open as advertised. That is the best way to handle this kind of situation. There is a LOT of labor in the park decoration for only 24 operating days (which ended up being 21 2/3) this year. It seems to be an odd decision not to operate the 2 weekends before Thanksgiving when the weather is warmer. I understand that ride permits cause the Dec 31 closure. However, the Columbus Zoo is operating 2 rides at their Christmas event through Jan 4, so wondering what the difference is. It would seem that maximum operating days to recuperate the labor costs would be beneficial. This event would probably be more successful if the park had the indoor infrastructure for the event. At least another indoor theater, dark rides (1 coming soon!), another indoor restaurant etc There are 2 big former attraction buildings sitting empty that could accommodate if renovated. This event deserved the #2 award this year. Better quality live entertainment, continued increases in the lighting and more indoor options would push it to #1 IMO.2 points

The 4D/5D theater looks to be about 16,000 square feet in total, which would be plenty of space to convert the building into an omnimover dark ride (some of the smaller dark rides only need about 6,000 sqft). More indoor attractions could help with attendance for the Christmas event as well. I don't really see a good way to bring more people over to Kentucky Flyer without either moving the wave pool, moving KF itself (very unlikely), or just removing it altogether. They might be able to add another crossing over near the picnic pavilions and turn that into a new area, but either way I have a feeling that we will see even more major relocations and renovations within the next 5-10 years. The "rogue" placement is definitely a consequence of the Premier Parks-era Six Flags expansion of the park when Chang, T3, and the go karts were added in 1998. As nice as it probably was for all of those parks to receive such rapid growth at the time, it has only caused issue after issue after issue for Six Flags and almost every park that they owned.2 points

I think it's entirely possible that they just change the turrets instead of building a whole new facade onto the existing structure. Those look like they might be as easy to change as the top of the big Kings Island sign (like happened after Cedar Fair took over). That would at least make it look less castle-y. Above anything I hope they let it have a good color palette. The original looked nice but I don't know if beige and brown would work as well on the castle without something else being added. I do want the "Featuring" marquee overhang to return though.1 point

I absolutely love Taylor's reaction to this crazy ride...it really shows how insane and forceful this ride is. I also really like the people's reaction in the row behind them But I feel a lot of the other rides at this park don't get as much attention because of Falcon's Flight. Like the tilt coaster called Iron Rattler looks so fun and smooth! All the rides in this park look so fun, but I unfortunately don't see myself going here ever. Still cool to see nonetheless!1 point

They said "work on the facade would begin after the first of the year" so yeah that was mentioned. However, based on the blueprints it seems like the current entrance and bridge will remain, but I'm guessing they'll do some work on the castle itself to make it more like an opera house. I believe someone on here created a couple of mockup ideas awhile back on this thread or another thread.1 point

Did anyone else interpret the new teaser video of mentioning a new exterior for the building? (I thought they said something about it)1 point

I hope Herschend can continue to steadily "fix" the other parts of Kentucky Kingdom after they're done with the additions of Discovery Meadow and Flying Fox. At some point I'm sure they will renovate the front half of the park to be more up to their standards as well. One thing I'd really like to see is if they could do anything to switch around the layout of Hurricane Bay to make the back half of the park less puzzle piece-y whenever HB is closed for the season. I can believe they handle it fine enough, but I also feel like HFE is the type of company that would take on this type of project. I think it's certainly more feasible than my Soak City rearrangement plan1 point

They did it. They actually did it. And I'm not gonna lie. The park looks incredible. Falcon's Flight looks incredible. It's still hard to wrap my mind around the fact that this thing even exists and is operational.1 point

I thought somewhere it was stated that the electrician's name would now be Rick, and that that would be the Rick Bastrup feature, no? Maybe in one of the text articles from October/November? Although looking back at the plans it does say Gus. Are Marty and Ralph the stage hands? So many characters are listed that I hadn't noticed before. According to the video, exterior work should be starting any day now. I wonder how much of it we might be able to see from the webcam. Very exciting times!1 point

Richard Doyle confirmed as maestro again, interesting to see where Rick bastrup will appear in the ride, here’s to April.1 point

I thought I heard somewhere that the original intent was to have it change for the holidays which would’ve made sense considering they kept the ride open for WF. To be honest, after 8 years of it existing, it’s shocking that they never had any holiday scenes rendered, or even new scenes in general.1 point

As excited as I am, I hope Kings Island doesn't reveal too much; I want to be surprised the first time I enter the ride building. So if I don't make it opening day, I'm going to avoid all POV spoilers which I'm sure some people will post.1 point
