  1. The last time I checked, this was not a junior high school hallway. Since you guys want to air your grievances with each other on every thread (and I thought my message was clear the other day about treating everyone with respect here), either cut it out, or you can find somewhere else to argue with each other besides KIC, for I have had enough. This is a place to have fun and forget about the outside world for a bit.
  2. I was assigned to be a ride operations team lead at Flight of Fear this season; I wanted to celebrate its 30th Anniversary so I built the new alien at the end of the ride. The two (then one) old aliens that sat there were very crusty and old, basically falling apart as they sat there. The new alien is entirely 3D printed, I didn't model the alien itself, but I made modifications to make the head turn left and right. The head turning is very subtle as you ride by, but I can assure you it does move. Flight of Fear Alien Animated Figure If you're wondering about the old aliens, I kept them around in backstage areas of FOF for a few weeks before people above me took them and threw them out (to be fair we were wasting time messing around with them).
  3. I have no knowledge of how things are structured under SF, but anecdotally it seems like the best results are had when individual parks' P&D groups are left alone to do their thing with little, if any, oversight or parenting from "corporate". I'm not saying that is or isn't happening in this case, but talented as Ken Parks may be, it could be the structure of things within SF that produces uninspired names like "Thrill Glider".
  4. All the creative people were fired last year. Turns out AI can’t replace human creativity, but we all knew that (except Six Flags suits)
  5. Well that's super cool! Thanks for sharing!
  6. Six Flags Entertainment made three major announcements this week aimed at generating excitement among guests and coaster fans. Wall Street’s reaction, however, went in the opposite direction. On Monday, Six Flags introduced Flex Pay by Upgrade, a new financing option allowing eligible guests to purchase Season Passes and other qualifying products of $49 or more and spread the cost over fixed monthly payments. Approved passholders can begin using their benefits immediately while continuing to make payments. Then came Tuesday’s announcement — one Six Flags had teased as something that would “turn heads across the amusement industry.” The company revealed it had acquired ArieForce One, the acclaimed Rocky Mountain Construction coaster from the former Fun Spot America Atlanta. Six Flags plans to relocate and enhance the coaster before reopening it at an undisclosed park in 2028 or 2029. On Thursday, Six Flags Magic Mountain unveiled Thrill Glider, a first-of-its-kind Vekoma coaster coming in 2027 with multiple launches, five inversions and a top speed of 50 mph. But investors haven’t shared the enthusiasm. Six Flags Entertainment (NYSE: FUN) closed Friday at $13.12 per share, down $1.92 — or 12.77% — over the past five days, according to the accompanying stock chart. Six Flags wanted to turn heads this week. Its stock price certainly did — just not in the direction the company probably had in mind.
  7. Kings Island just released this awesome video on social media showing the 30th Anniversary Of Flight of Fear! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17heZ1mLr1/
  8. I’m on the boat that would totally jump onboard the idea of Premier doing a total retrack, trains, support treatment so we can have this ride around 30+ more years!
  9. At this rate, We may not see six flags last long enough to even dismantle the coaster.
  10. If I'm Epic Universe, I am calling Vekoma to install one of these in the French Harry Potter district for a flying broomstick type of experience. Or a Quidditch match!
  11. I know there were some rumors that the Ministry of Magic area was supposed to have a second attraction and it was intended to be a roller coaster. Then plans had to be adjusted due to Covid... I think it would fit the area very well. Supposedly they've filed permits for a broomstick themed ride with high capacity. I guess we'll see what happens in the future!
  12. Past and some recent projects are the result when he had a team I’m sure! A quick google confirms there was a mass layoff summer of last year. The work on Rapterra, Adventure Port, Orion all had passion written all over it by workers who were true fans of parks. That team was let go. The ai logos, t shirts, merch since… it’s just sad
  13. Shareholders are worried when they hear investment because unfortunately, six flags can’t afford it right now. They still have a debt to pay.
  14. Last time I checked Ken Parks still runs the planning and design team and he has done a good job with storytelling in the recent Six Flags projects.
  15. A lot of incredibly talented, passionate and hardworking people have been shown the door. The result is in the results.
  16. There's a difference between relaying a final score of a game and what you clearly did with the MLive article, which was lift several whole sections of the article and restructure and reword them and then present it as if the information and thoughts were your own, without linking to or even mentioning the original article or the author who did the actual work on getting the information. It doesn't take an "expert" to see that what you did is borderline plagiarism, no? Further, you can dispense with the straw man BS of mentioning me in every new thing you post with regard to fact vs opinion. That you seem triggered by the mere request that things you cite as factual should be supported by something other than "because I say so" is no reason to spam topics with irrelevant, snarky, troll-ish comments.
  17. My theory is that they had a name, either "rethemed" the ride or found out that it was already in use, and then changed it to the easiest possible name. This isn't the first time we've seen Cedar Fair Six Flags use a model name for a thrill coaster: see Invertigo at Kings Island. This could've always been the name they had in mind as well.
  18. That right there is why having so many parks in one chain is not a good idea. Especially a mix of very big and small parks. Under Cedar Fair now merged with Six Flags there just isn't room in budgets to invest in these smaller parks when you have these big destination parks that need investment year and year out.
  19. Dollywood’s Harvest Festival returns to Pigeon Forge with thousands of glowing pumpkins, more than 700 live performances, seasonal food and several new experiences—including the park’s first separately ticketed after-hours event. 20. AND.... not off the shelf. Innovative, creative, immersive (and many other *.ive adjectives). AND... you cannot find the experience anywhere else. Got to go to Dollywood. Very cool to have been among the first (a few turnstiles behind you) to ride it!
