  1. What the park needs: 1. TREES. As the park ages, they keep cutting down trees with no replacement. It's becoming pretty miserable in the heat. 2. Investment in true family rides (dark rides, skyway, etc). Rides that everyone can ride together no matter age, height, weight, etc. THIS is why Disney is so well attended, and all the rest of the theme parks are missing out on this market. Bringing back the Antique Cars was a very wise step in this direction. 3. Oktoberfest renovation and flat ride package 4. Action Zone retheming (Transylvania). With this a world-class dark ride like the Phantom Theatre once was.
  2. Kings Dominion had the same coaster until 83. They used the standard Galaxi name for it. There was a fatality on it in 83. I believe a kid riding alone hit his head. The ride didn’t have much excess clearance and I have seen statements that he may have stood up. These were SDC rides. They had 2 car trains. Schwarzkopf Wildcats use individual cars. The Galaxii has 2 helixes and then a swerve around the lift hill, another turn then brakes. The Wildcats have two helixes then straight into the brakes out of the second helix. It’s a jolting stop on the wildcats.
  3. What I understand is the parks own the campgrounds, and they are just KOA franchises. The Kings Dominion campground is great. So close to the park and covered/surrounded by trees just like that park.
  4. Kings Island is the worst park for smoking outside the designated areas. There is no enforcement and the announcements are not often enough and not forceful enough.
  5. A sign of poor operations when a racing coaster doesn’t race.
  6. The layout and length are disappointing. Something like Fury would have been much better. Diamondback has a more interesting layout. But at least it’s not a poorly designed Intamin.
  7. I’m at Kings Dominion. Same ownership. Park is just two years less older thank KI. Restrooms are updated, STAFFED, air conditioned, clean and no smell. No reason KI can’t be like that. Attendance is no reason because increased attendance should equate to more restrooms and more staff It must be individual park management priorities
  8. I wish some American park had installed Huss’s giant dream boat. That ride looks incredible. Its odd Nagashima installed two as the capacity of one is huge Ark
  9. Raving coasters are my favorite But Racing coasters are so rare and ones that actually closely race are even more race The racing aspect at KI is really bad this year. Until recently my visit last week, red reached the lift hill first. Reds lift is faster than blue. Then the new turn around is much faster than the other side. The trains aren’t interacting much this year. I hear Kings Dominion put a computerized lift hill on their Racer to make them actually race this year. I am looking forwArd to that if true. Before this year it had the same pre-lift hill, varying chain lift issue as Kings Island. Racer 75 is a better version oh Kings Islands anyway as it doesn’t split after the third hill, has an excellent floater hill for the third Jill, has the hill that KI removed and a real tunnel as the finale. Going along with Six Flags poor operations, American Eagle did not race last year on purpose The ops were instructed to stagger the trains Lightning Racer at Hershey was designed to race perfectly but sometimes the age of the track affects one side more than the other
  10. The night shows are always better with the lighting. The 6 show was still great with all of the choreography. One could actually see the choreography better in the 6 show with the smaller crowd. The performers always put 100% into both shows despite the heat and lack of shade at 6
  11. The dip about 3/4 into the helix is a great example of poor arrow transitions. The dip turn after the long swoop drop/before the helix can also be rough if one is not ready for it.
  12. Totally agreed. At least AE mis theming is hidden in the woods.
  13. Retheme it ti Barvarian Railroad to match Oktoberfest. The station already has a chalet type roof. Turn the tunnels into ice and snow tunnels with cold blasts of air. And if they really wanted to market a new rude, extend it with a double helix and tunnel after the final lift.
  14. AE was definitely designed for three trains. It has two full lift hills.
  15. It would be a dump with poor operations. Six Flags parks are neglected with weeds growing instead of landscaping. They want to force sales of atlas passes with their slow operations. And there would be incoherent superhero rides in the park. They really are the bottom of the barrel in theme park chains. Cedar Fair has done a great job at the mess they were handed to by Paramount.
  16. It was closed on every visit early in the year. But they had it open during Carnivale. It’s not mechanically complicated. It seems to be popular when open
  17. If a park has higher attendance, they can afford more staff to clean restrooms. The park also should have more restrooms. Busch has 10 restroom locations in the park. Ki has 9.
  18. Most of the restrooms have a urine smell to them. A few have been updated (maim entrance, Coney-Oktoberfest) but most look like they have their original interior. Cedar Point, the so-called flagship park is even worse! Theme park restrooms can be clean and not smell bad. Busch Gardens Williamsburg accomplishes that.
  19. Why is the food at Coney Barbeque always cold? Is it because the use bowls on hot plates instead of steam tables? It’s a huge disappointment every time I have eaten there. They should visit one of Busch’s smokehouses....
  20. Off the Charts is a great show but Hot Rhythm Nights was absolutely outstanding. It’s the same great vocalists and band, but it took the show to the next level with the dancers and tight choreography They should have one show like that at all season in place of the three nightly less choreographed shows. It’s a shame all the effort put into Hot Rhythm Nights for just three weeks of performance.
  21. I agree that the middle seat is smoother on any 3 bench wooden coaster.
  22. I think the best place to see it is the first stop in Coney because iit is the most open stop. You can look down the entire parade there and see everyone in sync when they stop. That’s around 8 when it starts. Also around the park entrance is a pretty wide open place to see the parade go by, but the dance party doesn't stop exactly there.
  23. Sunday 6/23 was my first experience of this event. A monsoon hit shortly after it started, around 6:00 PM, which cut all of the smaller shows and activities short. However, it dried out enough that they still had the parade and final Hot Rhythm Nights despite that most of the crowd left after the rain. I can already say from what I seen, this event deserves and A+. The parade was a modified version without the costumes and it was still amazing It was so full of energy. SOOOOO many performers. 7 or so sets of performers, each with their own choreography (with movements matching the countries) as the parade moved from location to location. Then when it stopped for the participation segments, it absolutely looked incredible as all of the performers did the dance moves in sync. Hot Rhythm Nights is absolutely one of the best shows the park as ever had. Live band, great vocalists and excellent dancers with top notch choreography and play list. It too has so much energy! It is a shame this show only runs 3 weeks, because the performers had a lot of material to learn and put so much into it The smaller shows are great. There is so much to see/do at this event. Cedar Fair has absolutely mastered these special events. First Winterfest. Now Grande Carnivale. They aren't taking shortcuts with the number of performers at these events and it just creates a spectacular atmosphere. We are so lucky with the direction that current CF management has taken with the Taft parks.
  24. Noboby is looking for attention except for immature people that like to pick fights on this site with other members. This site is for comments and opinions, which exactly is what those ARE.
  25. After seeing the new fountains in action yesterday, they have full approval. The jets may not be as thick as the previous ones, but there are over 100 jets and they fill the entire fountain area with water in the air. It is a grand feeling seeing that much water in the air and nice feeling the mist. The fountains have more action than the previous fountains. Each jet is capable of its own activity I believe. The Royal Finale is nice. Nice song selection of Tiesto with Aviici playing afterward. The fountains still have not met their full potential yet as far as the show they can produce. They Royal finale is nice, but it still doesn't meet full potential. If they get someone that can expertly sync these fountains to each powerful note of the music, they have the capability of producing a show that can make you feel the music like Illuminations at Epcot. I am not suggesting as many fireworks, large fire etc as Illuminations, but syncing visuals (the fountain, building lighting etc) to each powerful note of the music and having a longer show with multiple songs leading up to the last song with the fireworks.
