  1. Does anyone else think this change is a sign that Cedar Fair also put Valleyfair up for sale? They said in the California's Great America sale announcement that the company conducted a strategic review of all assets in 2021 and then in Feb. 2022 they announced that the Halloween events were being scaled way back. https://ir.cedarfair.com/news/news-details/2022/Cedar-Fair-Capitalizes-on-Opportunity-to-Sell-Its-Land-at-Californias-Great-America-Amusement-Park/ It appears the waterpark expansion plans have fallen through and there isn't much of a growth opportunity at this park. https://screamscape.com/html/valleyfair.htm The best use for this land could still be as an amusement park, but it might be a better fit in the Premier Parks/EPR Properties or Palace Entertainment/Parques Reunidos portfolios. Selling this park would allow Cedar Fair to pay down more debt and would put the company in a better position to acquire another property that they could grow or add resort accommodations to.

  3. No, it isn't. If you read the SEC filing, Cedar Fair only sold the land and still has ownership of everything else on the property.
  4. It will probably be gone in 2-6 years. https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0000811532/78a5bf4c-e155-489d-b56b-5161d8809409.pdf "On June 27, 2022, and as a condition to the sale of the Park, the Company entered into a lease with Prologis pursuant to which Cedar Fair, L.P., through its subsidiaries will continue to operate the Park. The lease has a six-year term, and the Company has the option to extend the term for an additional five years. The lease is subject to a right in favor of Prologis to terminate the lease early by providing at least two years’ prior notice. The annual base rent under the lease is $12,247,500 and will increase by 2.5% each year" "(b) The Property does not include any property not listed in Section 1(a) and each of the following is explicitly excluded from the transactions contemplated by this Contract: (i) All inventory, furniture, machinery, equipment, tools, maintenance parts, computers, point-of-sale equipment, telephones, and all other tangible items of personal property; (ii) All contracts relating to Seller’s operation of the Park; (iii) Any and all governmental or quasi-governmental permits, licenses and approvals relating to the operation of the Park, including, but not limited to, environmental permits and occupational and liquor licenses; (iv) All of Seller’s, its affiliates’ or any third party’s trademarks and trademark rights, trade names and trade name rights, service marks and service mark rights, service names and service name rights, brand names, trade dress, business and product names, logos, maps, including Park maps, and slogans used or held for use in connection with the Park; (v) Rides, water slides, rollercoasters, improvements, inherently permanent structures, buildings, and underground storage tanks located on or about the Land; or (vi) Fixtures and all plumbing, gas, electrical, ventilating, lighting and other utilities and utility systems, ducts, hot water heaters, air conditioning systems and all other building systems, in each case attached to or comprising a part of any building located on or about the Land."
  5. There is more detail in the SEC filing. https://d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net/CIK-0000811532/78a5bf4c-e155-489d-b56b-5161d8809409.pdf
  6. 2023 doesn't seem unreasonable based on the gap between the last few coasters. Banshee: 2014 Mystic Timbers: 2017 Orion: 2020 ??: 2023
  7. Based on the rides Carowinds is getting for 2023, a Zamperla Nebulaz would be cheap and fit on the existing Slingshot pad. I wouldn't mind seeing a Zamperla Air Race in this location, but it will require a larger concrete pad to be constructed.

  10. You are correct. A stock offer isn't always bad, but the Six Flags offer was mostly in stock at a time when the Six Flags stock price was crashing. Analysts think this deal will end up in the $70-80 per share range. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/02/seaworlds-bid-for-cedar-fair-makes-sense-but-it-may-have-to-pay-more.html

  15. You can see the six photos on reddit.com/r/rollercoasters. The horse has left the barn. A large section of the helix was removed down to the footers.

  17. The press release and SEC filing make it sound like Spanos was fired and pushed out by the Board of Directors over the weekend. The new CEO, Selim Bassoul, was the Chairman of the Board and should have a solid understanding of the company.
  18. According to the owner's son and multiple employees, the loop base pieces needed to be moved about four inches on the footers.

  20. What if Cedar Point removed Power Tower (S&S Space Shot) to make room for a new Top Thrill Dragster queue/station extension and relocated the ride to Kings Island with the new spin shot seats on two of the towers? Drop Tower could be removed as part of the eventual Action Zone redo. I will admit this idea is a bit out there.
